Good Morning,
I can’t believe that it is October 4th already. There are so many wonderful things happening in our sport. The first round of Breeders’ Cup prep races are now in the books and the balance of them will take place this weekend. It is really getting exciting now!
I am doing MY very best to keep up with all of the racing activity around the country as well as my own duties and responsibilities as an “OFFICIAL HOSTESS FOR THE BREEDERS’ CUP. I actually have a ‘CALENDAR’ which keeps track of all of the appointments I have
with sports writers who are doing articles and promotion for our SPORT! Needless to say, I am very happy to help.
People are really getting excited about MY PARTY. Leonard, who is working with Dottie on all of this, said that people from 26 different states and Canada have already purchased tickets. This is fabulous! Also, today is the first day that Breeders’ Cup will be going public with the ticket announcement. How much FUN is this! My Team is really getting excited!
Amidst all of my other activities, I also want to keep up with my philanthropic work. I am pleased to say that a visit with ME was recently auctioned off at the Crystal Boots and Silver Spurs Event—to benefit MS. The final bid was $6,219. I am so, so pleased that I am able to help raise money for this special charity!
Yesterday, I met with Anna Ford and we are planning an activity for NEW VOCATIONS which is a horse adoption charity. Then on October 17, The RIDING FOR HOPE AUCTION winner will be coming for a visit. LUCKY ME! I really feel so proud that I can do my part to help.
It is also important for ME to keep in touch with MY FAMILY. “E” is training nicely at BARN 55 and getting into a regular routine. She has breezed 3/8ths a few times and is moving forward. MIKIE always stops by to visit her…and I know that MY JOHN and Mario give her HUGS from ME all of the time. I’d know those ‘ears’ anywhere. I guess they run in the family!
Hmmm! Wonder if BABY Z / B’s ears will look like mine? I hope so!
Have a terrific Tuesday!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Come to my party!

OMG…EBBY is Beautiful!!!! What a great looking filly…I hope Mike gets the call. What a gift for Ebby as she begins her campaign to have Mike guiding her. YOUR John knows best for all so I will keep my “fingers and hooves” crossed for her. Who is in the picture with you? I can’t make out the rider’s face and the horse is unfamiliar…best of luck to them too with YOUR John. He is THE BEST!

Exquisite “E” surely does strike a beautiful pose—so much like that of the gorgeous bronze replica of her illustrious half-sister!

The Best ears-the BEST horse!

Nearly forgot: Here’s a link of the interview by Melaina Phipps of Horse Racing Nation with Allen Jerkens, the Hall of Fame trainer. QUESTION #16: Who is your favorite race horse? Answer: ZENYATTA!!! I think that is high praise that a trainer of Mr. Jerkens’ stature, with over 60 years in the business, and having seen the quality of horses he must have come across in all those years, picked you, Queen Z!!! http://www.horseracingnation.com/blogs/Around/The_Proust_Questionnaire_Racing_Edition_H_Allen_Jerkens_123
High hooves, sweet girl! Still the ‘leader of the pack’! Hugs. Ann Maree

Zenny! I forgot one piece of info to share with YOU. When I was at Santa Anita on Saturday, I saw John and Dottie, Mario and Frank, AND Steve Willard. I spoke to Steve for a while. I told him the next time he visits you, he must whisper in your ear to deliver your foal on MARCH 9th. I explained to him that that is John Henry’s birthday; then he understood. He promised he would :-)

What a pretty girl your sister is, Zenyatta. Ebbylou is gonna make you proud, I just know it.

Dear Great One,
Your little sis is in good hands with Mikey, and he has “all in the family” experience with the “Vertinguex girls.” Hope I spelled your Mom’s name correctly. I hope you are doing exceptionally well today and you and your BEST PAL TT are having a wonderful day. Give my best to PQ as well.
Your humble J

There s no question that Baby Bump will have your ears. They seem to run in your family. I expect Baby Bump will look a lot like your little sister Ebby Lou.

Thanks for sharing all of your fantastic photos over the last few posts! “E” certainly is one beautiful girl too! I beleive it is in part by the way she is loved & cared for, just as you were with John…and Team Z! I am sure Team “E” handle her with a tender touch.
Congrats to Zazu!

Zenny, we’ve been on another mini-vacation and have missed you and the “dumplings”. It’s so great to be back home reading your diary. We’d be at your party in a flash but a conflict will prevent us from being there. We have no doubt YOU and your team will be perfect hosts. Love you bunches…

Zenny, I love E’s ears, too, because they’re the same as YOURS. Your mom sure made beautiful babies!
Thanks for the updates on all your activities…you are one busy gal!

Zenyatta, good looks sure run in your family. I am hoping that my favorite jockey, will be riding Eblouissante, when she starts racing. Mike Smith, I’m rooting for you. Would love to hear Mike compare the rides of E and Z. Good to see Mike again. I sure hope he gets to visit Zenyatta from time to time.

E is beautiful! Good looks definitely run in the family. I can’t wait for her to start her racing career. I think she is going to be something special.

Mike E. Smith gets my vote. E you are getting more beautiful each time I see you. I know that you will have your own running style. You run your race and I’m sure you will do just fine. Love is EZ when you have two such athletic thoroughbreds.
Janis
Zenyatta, 2012 is going to be such an exciting year with both you and Vertigineux expecting and E racing. Sounds like Mike is going to have some busy years ahead. Love ya.

“E” is so beautiful and Mikie does look so very strong and handsome taking her out for her breeze. Another great team up! ;)
Miss you much Z! But so very proud of all the good things that you and your connections are doing! You are awesome! :)
Love & Blessings,
Kathy from SoCal xoxo

She is a beauty but you are equally beautiful.

Hello Zeny: Thanks for the update on the charity events you are helping. You and your family are one of a kind. It takes a lot of work to put these events together and make them successful. I wish your Party to be the best ever. Hugs and Prayers for you, baby, Tasty and her baby too. Marilu
By the way, EB looks beautiful. Mike is all smiles…..

Good looks certainly run in the family, fantastic legs and ears that can be recognized anywhere. There does seem to be a hint of a dance move in that leg so maybe dancing is in the genes altho I think YOUR JOHN developed that talent. E is coming along nicely and it must be a real pleasure for Mike to work her. I’m so glad to know that Canada is going to be represented at your party, just wish the Canadian was me. Zenny, make sure that you take lots of breaks and naps during the next few weeks when you are so busy, a few extra pears would be nice when you are doing so much.

This is really one good looking 2 year old! She is set up and balanced so well. This could be a snap-shot of your foal, Z. Wonder what Mike thinks of her? No fair comparing her to you, she’s a different horse but I’d love to hear what he has to say about her.
Fran Doos
Hi Z! So glad you are doing so much work for charity. You are a tremendous help and a great advocate for retired horses and their welfare. I am very proud of you! Have a wonderful day Z! xxoo

Just like almost very post before me, I think E is absolutely stunning. Mike looks right at home and very happy right where he’s at. @Denise in AZ – what an awesome thing you did, taking in the two neglected horses. They have to feel like they’ve arrived in heaven to have someone to take care of them. Wish I had property that allowed horses, but I do not. Not enough can be said about you and all others on this site who have rescued these poor horses who have no one to speak for them. Good things come back to people who care.
