Good Morning,
I can’t believe that it is October 4th already. There are so many wonderful things happening in our sport. The first round of Breeders’ Cup prep races are now in the books and the balance of them will take place this weekend. It is really getting exciting now!
I am doing MY very best to keep up with all of the racing activity around the country as well as my own duties and responsibilities as an “OFFICIAL HOSTESS FOR THE BREEDERS’ CUP. I actually have a ‘CALENDAR’ which keeps track of all of the appointments I have
with sports writers who are doing articles and promotion for our SPORT! Needless to say, I am very happy to help.
People are really getting excited about MY PARTY. Leonard, who is working with Dottie on all of this, said that people from 26 different states and Canada have already purchased tickets. This is fabulous! Also, today is the first day that Breeders’ Cup will be going public with the ticket announcement. How much FUN is this! My Team is really getting excited!
Amidst all of my other activities, I also want to keep up with my philanthropic work. I am pleased to say that a visit with ME was recently auctioned off at the Crystal Boots and Silver Spurs Event—to benefit MS. The final bid was $6,219. I am so, so pleased that I am able to help raise money for this special charity!
Yesterday, I met with Anna Ford and we are planning an activity for NEW VOCATIONS which is a horse adoption charity. Then on October 17, The RIDING FOR HOPE AUCTION winner will be coming for a visit. LUCKY ME! I really feel so proud that I can do my part to help.
It is also important for ME to keep in touch with MY FAMILY. “E” is training nicely at BARN 55 and getting into a regular routine. She has breezed 3/8ths a few times and is moving forward. MIKIE always stops by to visit her…and I know that MY JOHN and Mario give her HUGS from ME all of the time. I’d know those ‘ears’ anywhere. I guess they run in the family!
Hmmm! Wonder if BABY Z / B’s ears will look like mine? I hope so!
Have a terrific Tuesday!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Come to my party!

Dearest Zenyatta,
What a busy girl you are and for such great, worthwhile causes. Your generous heart never ceases to amaze me.
‘E’ reminds me so much of you, dear Z. I’m so excited to see her run! I’m sure that Mikie, John and Mario are taking fabulous care of her.
Of course baby Z/B will have your ears. How could it not? :)
Have a fun day with Tasty!

‘E’ certainly is growing up nicely!
I was checking out a few things on the ‘net’ yesterday and came to realize that your BFF Tasty T is a 1/2 sister to the lovely Rachel A! This little bit of irony makes me smile.
My but you’re a busy girl! Thanks for all the work that you and yours are doing for the worthy causes out there. There is a philosophy that what you send out to the world will come back 10 times. If so, you’re due for some kind and special happenings.

E is a fantastic looking filly!!
We took in a 7yr old paint mare and her yearling last week- the owner couldnt take care of them anymore.. both thin and needed farrier badly, but coming along nicely already- and couldn’t ask for better temperments. My daughter has bonded so sweetly with the little guy- he’s 1 1/2 but about the size of an 8 month old and testicles haven’t dropped so we’ll have to see how he does with plenty to eat.. Definately need prayers for hubby finding the perfect job now!!
Hugs to all- D.

Weemissfrankie, recent winner of the Oak Leaf Stakes and the Del Mar Debutante is by Sunriver (Saint Ballado x Goulash). For those who enjoy studying pedigrees here is a link to an interesting analysis on Weemissfrankie’s star-crossed family. This article reminds me of how fragile a sire line can become and therefore I am grateful that the sire line for my equine hero Man O’ War lives on through Tiznow. I wish I had the resources to do my part at trying to revive the Saint Ballado sire line.

Hi, Z,

Beautiful picture of E and Mikey! Thanks to John for his wonderful photography. BTW, do you think you could put a bug in John’s ear that it sure would be great to see some more training videos!!! Those are so special for all his horses and love watching those babies train!

Also, YOUR JOHN has one of his babies working on his third try to break his maiden Thursday, Race #1 at Santa Anita, Moroccan Sky, owned by YOUR ANN AND JERRY! High hooves for “third time’s the charm” for Moroccan Sky!
