Happy Monday Everyone!
It was such a fabulous weekend of racing with so many Breeders’ Cup ramifications! Tasty and I reviewed several of the results with our pals here at Lane’s End. You have to LOVE a filly, DANEDREAM, beating the field very impressively in the ARC. As a matter of fact, the first 3 finishers in that prestigious race this year were FILLIES! This is very special and quite unique. GOLDIKOVA gave it her all in her race and just lost by inches in a photo. A great effort on her behalf for sure!
As for the American results, I must send a HIGH HOOF to my Moss pal, ZAZU, for her fabulous finish in the Lady’s Secret-G1. What a terrific victory! Dottie and I were commenting that this is the 4th year in a row the Moss’ have won the Lady’s Secret…and each year the winner’s name began with a Z…..3 for ME and now 1 for Zazu. This is rather remarkable!
Then in other races, Havre de Grace, Uncle Mo, Plum Pretty, Flat Out, Game on Dude and all of the other winners performed beautifully. What a very special weekend..with so many of these horses now making their plans to go to the Breeders’ Cup. The two year olds stakes action is also heating up…and it will be fabulous to watch horses like Creative Cause, Wemissfrankie and others continue to develop!
Let the FUN BEGIN!
Dottie also commented that all of MY PARTY PLANS are making great progress. As of Saturday afternoon, people from 12 different states have already ordered tickets. Several people stopped Dottie at the races and said THEY ARE COMING! This is getting to be very exciting. I can’t wait!
I’ll keep you posted on all of these fun things to come!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@Marty R
Not sure Z does not have a turn of foot; with she gets into the clear she clearly accelerates and that comes from the hind end, hers was very powerful and the hind feet. I think that she may have an excellent turn of foot.

@Susan from TN
One of my trainers who owned the barn I trained at used to get a lot of really good horses from rescue; takes a lot of work and know how to make them good, but they were really good when she got done with them.

@Marty R
It was confusing to me also, I had to look at a lot of racing videos that the talking heads said showed turn of foot, it is a racing slang, but makes sense. The turn their back foot and use hind end to accelerate.
Did you see the TB racing definitions that I posted for you???

Thanks for the B-day wish.

@Terry Crow
Another great joke today. Did you see Flatout won???? Had you been rooting you would be out of the Ford administration.

That baby bump is growing by the day..What an exciting Lady’s Secret! Zazu had the worst post position out of the entire field but had a huge closing kick just like you winning the last 3 years. I really hope Blink Luck is okay. While she is 0-2 on the SA track, I don’t believe she’s ever been out of the money and that is cause for concern with her last placing. I can only think about Uncle Mo in the Wood and Lost in the Fog and Devil May care.
Kimberly
Hi Z. You and Tasty look so relaxed and enjoying the sunshine… Nitey Nite ZZZZ.

There is a rescue raffling off a photo of Zenyatta that was signed by TEAM Z for a horse that is in very bad shape. A rescue now has him in Florida called Pure Thoughts. Check it out http://www.purethoughtshorserescue.com

BABY NEWS~ Momma back in hospital last Friday for a few hours. Baby is very active and heart rate is good…but they discovered that Baby is not growing anymore…she is about 4 pounds. So they turned Momma loose and said start walking…let’s get this baby born! Momma and Daddy walked all weekend. Dr appt today said Momma is dialated to 2 and 90% effaced, so progress is being made. She has two more appts scheduled for this week and they are keeping a very close eye on Baby. We are hoping she can get this done on her own as they will not let her go any longer than a week from now because Baby has stopped growing. Prayers are always appreciated….and I know first hand the power of this Army. I will keep you posted on any news.
Love~
Zenyatta’s #1 fan in Montana!

Hi Zenny I thought you and your fans would find this bit of information interesting:
Santa Anita earns bragging rights Saturday in east/west rivalry–At Santa Anita the on-track crowd of 16,013 and at the Belmont the on-track attendance was 10,481.
Congrats Zenny, I am sure you had a lot to do with energizing your CA base.

I must agree with eveyone…beautiful picture of you girls. A perfect picture to come home to after a crazy Monday at work. I had planned on being at your party…had looked into my flight, hotel room, fortunatly before entering the credit card number, I thought I should confirm the time off. Just needed the Thursday-Friday-Saturday and Sunday and still have 22 days of vacation..so did not see how it could be a problem..but it was. Blacked out weekend. The lovely world of Retail. So needless to say…not a good day:(. But while feeling sorry for myself, God put someone in front of me late in the day, that made me feel ashamed of myself. I am so blessed to have a job that has supported my family for 35 years, provided great care for my daughter during years of chemo and other treatments. SO…while I will miss the party, I will be there in heart and praying for all those traveling and the wonderful horses and their connections.
It really was a wonderful weekend of racing and Zazu was Fantastic. Also…really will be watching Battle Force. Uncle Mo, HDG …Love them and great to see the Mo of last year back. Stay Thirsty is still one of my favorites and he just ran into a little traffic up front. I am also concern about Blind Luck but happy to read that she is going to get a rest.
Well..xoxo to all, sweet dreams and God Bless.

Dearest Z– what a perfectly gorgeous and serene picture of YOU and TT–2 lovely moms-to-be. I can only hope that Life at Ten has such a peaceful life ahead of her.
@Dawn COnrad–thank you so much for the book titles. I remember Swale so well–our daughter was a little girl at the time, and she was so crushed when he died that she wrote Woody Stephens: “I loved him too.”
@Susan in TN–congratulations to Rootbeer. What great news. I do hope Rusty can find a forever family as well.
@Scott Davis–thanks for the link to Pure Thoughts. There are so many that need our help.Hope and pray many can help.
On that note, I must mention that if any of you live anywhere near Collin County, TX there are abotu 5 horses at auction. We are looking for a 501 (c) that could take them. There is funding available if someone has room. I have made calls with no results so far. It will happen this week, so time is running out for them.
The drought here has made life miserable for so many, and the economy has made it even worse. Our grandhorse’s board facility is having to pay $180/round bale of alfalfa.

Blessed are The Broodmares…yes indeed!

So happy to read that Life At Ten is being retired. I wish they had done that last year. She is such a beautiful mare who use to look like she loved being out there. But..sad to hear that Cape Blanco will be retired due to a fracture from Saturday. Maybe he two of them will meet in the Spring :)

Z and lit’l z,
Your connections are awesome. You’re so fortunate to have one another. Thank you so much for the constant photos and info on this site.
I have some great photos of Zazu from early this year; winning against the lovely Turbulent Descent, at Hwd Park. Zazu is such a beauty, and such a will to win. I viewed her race on-line. I too am concerned about Blind Luck, hope she is well. Just read that she will not go in the Lady’s Breeders Cup.
