Happy Monday Everyone!
It was such a fabulous weekend of racing with so many Breeders’ Cup ramifications! Tasty and I reviewed several of the results with our pals here at Lane’s End. You have to LOVE a filly, DANEDREAM, beating the field very impressively in the ARC. As a matter of fact, the first 3 finishers in that prestigious race this year were FILLIES! This is very special and quite unique. GOLDIKOVA gave it her all in her race and just lost by inches in a photo. A great effort on her behalf for sure!
As for the American results, I must send a HIGH HOOF to my Moss pal, ZAZU, for her fabulous finish in the Lady’s Secret-G1. What a terrific victory! Dottie and I were commenting that this is the 4th year in a row the Moss’ have won the Lady’s Secret…and each year the winner’s name began with a Z…..3 for ME and now 1 for Zazu. This is rather remarkable!
Then in other races, Havre de Grace, Uncle Mo, Plum Pretty, Flat Out, Game on Dude and all of the other winners performed beautifully. What a very special weekend..with so many of these horses now making their plans to go to the Breeders’ Cup. The two year olds stakes action is also heating up…and it will be fabulous to watch horses like Creative Cause, Wemissfrankie and others continue to develop!
Let the FUN BEGIN!
Dottie also commented that all of MY PARTY PLANS are making great progress. As of Saturday afternoon, people from 12 different states have already ordered tickets. Several people stopped Dottie at the races and said THEY ARE COMING! This is getting to be very exciting. I can’t wait!
I’ll keep you posted on all of these fun things to come!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Zenny- you and Tasty look like two peas in a pod- healthy, relaxed and happily at peace with the world. Another great picture by your John! Bet you’re enjoying this fall weather- it’s just right, isn’t it? I am excited about your party- I hope to be there. Love you <3

Dear Z just wanted to say to the connections of Banned and now the champion Fleet Indian how sad it is to lose them It is also sad that poor life at ten is going to be sold at the sale also St. Trinians I hope they end up in good places but why cant the owners be like yours and take care of them after they retire ? No commitment to these horses after they cant race no more this is very sad.

Congrats to Zazu and the Mosses! Got to see most of the races on video replay and enjoyed them all. Something is amiss with Blind Luck- hope nothing serious and that it passes quickly. So great to see Uncle Mo healthy!
@Kimberly Potter: Wow- what a story! That took some guts on the wrangler’s part AND Tonk’s! What a beautiful horse! You Montanans are TOUGH! Speaking of tough, how are your daughter and little Montanan-to-be?
@Terry Crow: Funny! Were you referring to your friend Don? Sorry he’s not doing better.
Thank you to all for your race reports and personal stories- I really enjoy them!

@Dawn Conrad – You’re welcome, “Goodbye My Friend” got to me too, that’s when I thought, oh, I’ve got to post this one. It said so much, with few words.

Rescue at River Edge: Well, good news, really: Rootbeer has been adopted! A college student from UT who wants to be a vet and is on their equestrian team was at the rescue on Saturday with her grandparents and they took an immediate liking to him. He has grown and filled out and really is very handsome! And I was watching from a little distance like a proud mother because I realized that they could not tell that Rootbeer was “the shy one”! He was calm and friendly and I think it will be a good fit for him. I liked the people- had a good feeling about them- and Rootbeer did, too! I will miss him like crazy but nothing compared to how much Rusty will miss him. He will also be missed by his special friend Shari Volz. I think this is a good chance for him to have a full, happy life. Worst case scenario, he doesn’t work out and he comes back to the rescue!

Chester and Chopper will be moving this weekend instead of today. Their shelter is really going to be nice but it is not quite done. This lovely family is so excited that they will be boarding there- it really is TOO CUTE! They wanted to know what treats each horse likes (Chopper: apples- NOT carrots! Chester: Finely-chopped carrots or apples)because they want to have them on hand. Both of the boys are really looking good. They feel so much better now that the summer heat is over! Wish you all could meet them!

@BRENDA S I would be honored to do that for you and for the “KING”.
@TRINA NAGELE thanks for the high hoofs but I bet any one of the Z’sters would do it, I just thought of it first. Don’t know if she got the message though.

Rosemary McCauley
@Susan in TN thank you for the update and all the hard work on behalf of the rescue horses.
@Kathy B. I wore my Z initial pendant to the track on Saturday. It stands for Zenyatta but but Zazu borrowed it for the sixth race. She’s very beautiful and came like a flash down the stretch.
#Terry Crow – great jokes as ususal.
Debbie G
Congratulations to Zazu, Uncle Mo, HDG, Creative Cause, Flat Out, Game on Dude and all other winners from this weekend. Of course I was cheering for Zazu and I love Uncle Mo and HDG, but it was also good to see Chantel Sutherland win on Game on Dude. I’m just worried about Blind Luck and Life at Ten. I read on the Bloodhorse that Life at Ten is being retired. I’d say that’s for the best. I just hope that everything is OK with Blind Luck.
@Sue Frederick – I don’t know how long you’re going to be in town, but Three Chimneys is having their open house on November 2. It’s a beautiful farm. Point Given, War Chant and Dynaformer are there. And I definitely will look you up at Zenny’s party!
@Terry Crow – I know the UK football disguise was a joke. I laughed out loud when I read it. Believe me, they’re the biggest joke in town! And I hope there are a lot of rednecks at Z’s party. I’ll fit right in! I also would love to meet you one day. We could hang out at the racetrack together and make fun of all the rednecks.
@Cynthia H – I left you a message on post #347.
@Dawn Conrad – Thank you for your kind words. I’m fully intending on having fun at the party!
@Susan in TN – Congratulations on finding a home for Rootbeer. I know you’ll miss him terribly, but it sounds like he’s found a great home.
Cynthia H.

@Debbie G:
Messages at the end of Diary #347. Arms full of Z hugs for you all!
@Kari B: 12th heart.

Dottie & Zenny, thanks for all the news updates. I think I have some farmer blood in me because, if I’m not riding a horse, I’m happiest watching a healthy horse eating well. The photo above makes me very, very happy. Zenyatta and Tasty look so well cared for, and so peaceful. It’s a fine picture indeed and testimony to great management as well.

Good evening Zenyatta,
what a couple of cuties you are! :) And it looks like T. T. has one white sock on her left front leg & one on her right hind leg. Too cute :) :) :) Great news about your party, right?! It’s going to be a totally fab bash with almost all of your fans attending.
Thanks for all the up-dates.
Have a restful night and dream sweet
Doreen
Zenny – you and TT look so serene munching on the Kentucky bluegrass. There’s nothing like having brunch with your best friend. It was a thrilling weekend of racing – a preview of the Breeder’s Cup to come.
RIP Fleet Indian – gone to soon. My condolences to your connections.
I am so glad that Life At Ten was retired and I hope that she and St. Trinians find homes befitting them.
Well wishes to both Blind Luck and Cape Blanco. Happy Retirement Cape Blanco, you ran a great race in the bog at Belmont, heal well. I hope that Blind Luck just had an off day and nothing more.
@Dawn Conrad – it definitely was an enjoyable day at Belmont. For all that Uncle Mo went through, he looked stunning. Both HDG and Stay Thirsty are such cuties and they look like they have sweet dispositions. Larry Jones was beaming over HDG while walking her around the paddock – I’m so glad that he’s back and training and hopefully HDG helps ease his pain over losing Eight Belles, who will never be replaced. He’s a true horseman.

Hey Big Mama Z!It WAS a great weekend for racing. I saw Zazu win the Lady’s Secret Stakes. So exciting!! Good for her. It was just an exciting day of racing. I wish every racing day had 4 stakes races. Take care, sweetie! XOXO!

Harve de Grace was outstanding…Maybe HOY…Hopefully, she`ll win The Classic..Then she`s a shoe in.. Uncle Mo was outstanding as well. Goldikova has a place on my wall of champions just under your photo. She is truly a once in a life time horse. Just like you know who….Things are much more exciting then around Derby time… And you Zenny,a class of your own!!! Congrats to the wonderful Mosses… They deserve all the admiration they get..Dottie you looked so happy when Zazu won…Thank you as always!!! Love you Zenny. Such peaceful beauty of you & Tasty. Loved this picture; thanks John. I learned of the great wins that took place and hurrah for all! I was pulling for Stay Thirsty, and I wanted to see that Zazu won her race too. Here in Wi., our college team Wi. Badgers won their game, the Milw. Brewers theirs and our Packers won too all on this week-end as well.
What more fun and surprises could you bring us Z!! I’ll always love you for all the things you are and do and have done.
love with 2 kisses on your soft nose, one for baby z
@Abigail of Montreal; I still am thinking of your spirit dog Jericho. I believe you have started healing from your loss when you wrote such a touching tribute showing such love for him. Hope you read my first.

Cape Blanco retired; he laid down his body, heart, determination, courage and won the race; suffered a slab fracture of knee; all of the true characterisics of the TB
