Happy Monday Everyone!
It was such a fabulous weekend of racing with so many Breeders’ Cup ramifications! Tasty and I reviewed several of the results with our pals here at Lane’s End. You have to LOVE a filly, DANEDREAM, beating the field very impressively in the ARC. As a matter of fact, the first 3 finishers in that prestigious race this year were FILLIES! This is very special and quite unique. GOLDIKOVA gave it her all in her race and just lost by inches in a photo. A great effort on her behalf for sure!
As for the American results, I must send a HIGH HOOF to my Moss pal, ZAZU, for her fabulous finish in the Lady’s Secret-G1. What a terrific victory! Dottie and I were commenting that this is the 4th year in a row the Moss’ have won the Lady’s Secret…and each year the winner’s name began with a Z…..3 for ME and now 1 for Zazu. This is rather remarkable!
Then in other races, Havre de Grace, Uncle Mo, Plum Pretty, Flat Out, Game on Dude and all of the other winners performed beautifully. What a very special weekend..with so many of these horses now making their plans to go to the Breeders’ Cup. The two year olds stakes action is also heating up…and it will be fabulous to watch horses like Creative Cause, Wemissfrankie and others continue to develop!
Let the FUN BEGIN!
Dottie also commented that all of MY PARTY PLANS are making great progress. As of Saturday afternoon, people from 12 different states have already ordered tickets. Several people stopped Dottie at the races and said THEY ARE COMING! This is getting to be very exciting. I can’t wait!
I’ll keep you posted on all of these fun things to come!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@All. I see in Bloodhorse that Life At Ten has been retired and will go to the Breeding Stock sale at Keeneland. She hasn’t won a race this year. I think most of us remember her loss last year in the Ladies Classic at which time it was claimed by her trainer, Todd Pletcher, that it was thought that she had an allergic reaction to Salix. Can they say the same about every race she’s run this year? We all agreed last year there was something there that would never come to light and apparently it never has. Let’s just hope that she has a legitimate buyer this year and won’t wind up in a bad place. I’m hoping that kind of thing doesn’t happen at Keeneland.

I just wanted to let you fans of Zazu know, if you don’t already, to check out her Facebook pictures. There is one of her looking out of her stall, background is black, and her sweet, lovely face is looking right at the camera, ears pricked, with an expression that I just can’t describe but it melts my insides. Her darling white spot on her nose almost looks like a heart around her nostrils with the point just down to her upper lip. Just beautiful.
I want to add my condolences to the connected of Banned. So very sad.

RIP Banned. So sorry to hear about troubles for Blind Luck and Cape Blanco. Congrats to ZAZU and the Mosses! My best wishes to Life at Ten. That poor mare!

Absolutely beautiful picture…two gorgeous mommas-to-be ankle deep in lush Kentucky blue grass.
@signofthetimes- From Diary Post #347, I don’t know how I missed your explanation for “turn of foot”, but did finally see it. Thank you. I did rewatch Goldikova’s 2010 BC race and she certainly did accelerate!! When I see the term in the future, I’ll know what it means.
Happy Monday, everyone.

@Julia and Andrea in Germany—Congratulations on Danedream! High hoof!
And, Andrea in Gemany, are you the same Andrea whose birthday is July 28?
@Kimberly Potter—LOVE that Montana cowgirl and her hero-horseTONK who saved the little boy from a grizzly! Mark your calendars, everybody, for October 11 on the Letterman Show. And high hoof to David Letterman for featuring them live in New York! Thanks for the update, Kimberly.
Terry Crow
@Anne from Paramount-Happy belated birthday! @Trina Nagele and Judy Berube-Glad you enjoyed the joke. @Debbie G-The Kentucky football fan disguise was just a joke. Don’t worry that you think you won’t know anybody. You’ll be surprised at how racing fans are. PLus, there are a lot of rednecks there. I used to go to the track with a core of about 10 buddies. There are only two of us now and my remaining friend is having a tough time. IT hasn’t stopped me from going. I hope to meet you some day. @Vicki B-You and Debbie G are fellow redneck club members. Some day we will all meet. @Dawn Conrad–You’re welcome. Thank you for the tip on the Swale book. I wrote to Seth Hancock after Swale died, and he replied with the nicest letter, inviting me to visit Claiborne. At that time it was not open to the public. @Kari Bussell and Susan in TN-In honor of Kimberly Potter, you will never hear a redneck say duct tape won’t fix that. You might be a redneck if your toilet paper has page numbers on it. You might be a redneck if your local ambulance has a trailer hitch. You might be a redneck if your dog sleeps closer to you than your husband/wife. Today’s Joke–A man who had drank quite a bit the night before went to Sunday services. He nodded off while the preacher was giving his sermon. The preacher noticed this and became disgusted. He then said, “All of those who want to go to heaven, please stand up.” Of course, all stood except the sleeping man. IN an even louder voice the preacher shouted “All those who are going to hell please stand up.” The sleeping man woke up just in time to hear the part about standing up, so he did. Looking around, the man said “I don’t know why we are standing up, preacher, but it looks like it only applies to you and me.”

Hi Zenny, just popping in with a quick “I love you” as I’m at work and there are people here who actually expect me to get something done. I know, they’ve got a lot of nerve when I’ve got Zenny business to conduct. I’m just sayin’…:-)
Yay for Zazu and Uncle Mo.
RIP Banned and Fleet Indian

Hay Z I mentioned this on Friday but will do so again because ALOT of us can’t go to Kentucky for different reasons.
You should find out if there’s a way to broadcast your portion on the web. Many of us I’m sure would be willing to donate funds to a horse rescue or Old Friends. Something along those lines. Or maybe people can email copies of their receipts for whatever 501 inspires them and that would suffice.
I just hope someone on the team sees this and thinks about it.
Vicki B.
Zenny, you two gals are just so gorgeous.
Sue Fredrick
Oh Big Z and Tasty, you really look like two girlfriends out to lunch……warms my heart to see you soooo happy!! Well my girlfriend and I are planning our trip to your coming out party, however, we are running into problems trying to see some of the farms…..seems most of them are closed to tours because of the races and Keeneland sales starting. If Lane’s End doesn’t have their Open House that weekend I won’t get to see my Indy, or get to waive to you across the pasture. We are really bummed!! We are going to Pin Oak Stud, Airdrie and DAWN CONRAD your favorite, Claiborne, thanks for the heads up it sounds wonderful.
@Debbie G and Melinda K you single gals, we’ll be glad to talk to you be sure and say “Hi” we’ll have our Dumplin tags on.
@RIP Banned and Fleet Indian, so much beauty gone.
@Congrats to Zazu and Wilburn on your wins.
Luv you Z kisses on your nose
Trina Nagele
@KARI BUSSELL —Did you see the posts from Sue Fredrick and Sally B from Wisconsin on the “It’s Party Time” entry who said that if either one wins the visit to see Z they are going to ask YOU to go with them? How sweet! High hoof to you all, and best of luck.
Kathy B.
I had a feeling Zasu would win when I saw her looking regally out of the stabling area at her fans. I wore my “Z” hat/cap in honor of you Zenyatta never realizing I was also celebrating the current winner! The ladies I at the gift shop were very complimentary on the Z merchandise from your website, and several other patrons commented that you truly had to be in the know to know what the Z stands for! And now it can stand for Zasu too….although there will only be one true Queen!

Am I the only one lighting candles for Zenny and Baby Z on http://www.gratefulness.org? Check in and light a candle when you think of them?

Dear Zen, I love this photo of you and Tasty. Ahhh, the good life you are having indeed! And yes, the weekend racing was quite wonderful. You know, it’s because of YOU that I’m paying so much attention to the Breeders Cup prep races. Could you singlehandely, well, along with your incredible team, you can’t be separated … be reviving the sport of racing! You have had that impact on me for sure!

Sweet Zenny, TT, Dottie & Zensters:
My goodness but don’t you two grazing ladies look lovely together. It’s so easy to see what good friends you both are — and it will be lovely to see your babies frolicking together in the Spring.
@ Dawn Conrad, Kari Bussell, sign, Shari Voltz, Judy Berube, Sue Fredrick, Debbie G., Laura J., Elizabeth, Karen Gogue, Kathleen Kimber, Charlotte Farmer, Tracie Fream Noel & Ann Maree, as well as any that I may have unwittingly forgotten: Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your words of warmth and condolences to myself and my son, James, on the loss of our beloved Jericho. Your words have been flames of hope & inspiration over the last few, hard days … days of healing tears and rememorying my beautiful boy, whose spirit is here with me and will be forever, I know. I feel so privileged to have such wonderful & caring friends. Many, many thanks. HUGS to all…..
