Happy Friday, Everyone!
Suddenly it has become a bit chilly in Lexington. I need to have MY cozy blanket on for my early morning grazing fun with Matt! It is pretty out, though! The fall leaves will start to change soon…and the added color will really make the trees look amazing! This is MY first ‘fall’ in this regard for many years. In California, the seasons do not change as prominently as they do in Kentucky!
I am so pleased that YOU really like the idea of MY PARTY. So many fans have already responded and purchased tickets. If you have done so already…you are definitely in the first 500…so do not worry. The computer people are getting this refined for you so the people purchasing tickets in the future will know this information right away. This should all be completed today. Thank you for your patience!
I am also so excited about the incredible weekend of racing we are all going to be able to enjoy. From the East Coast to West Coast, it is one contentious stakes race after another with so many of the results having Breeders’ Cup ramifications. I love the fact that Havre de Grace and Blind Luck are each performing at such a high level. Their races are going to be so exciting! (I have a special fondness for the LADY’S SECRET which runs this weekend.) Then to see all of the other possibilities…whether turf or dirt for so many other terrific horses…will make handicapping GREAT FUN this weekend!
I can’t wait!
All the best to each of the horses competing during the next few days! All of my pals at Lane’s End and I will be watching!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

I finally got a chance to read your post for Friday. I went to Santa Anita today for their Autumn opening day. I will go tomorrow again to see Blind Luck, Harmonious and Zazu. Nice sweater Queen Z. Enjoy grazing outside with Tasty. I love you.

For dog lovers, this link has a tribute to the long-time companion of a friend of a friend. I never met the “friend of” or her beloved dog Oreo, but found her tribute very affecting — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xz_QLb4Sw8k

@Arlene in Vermont–So nice to see you posting again, and hope your clean up from the flooding will soon be over so you can be cozy in your own home again.
Trina Nagele
@Vicki B–Thanks for sharing that moving tribute to Oreo.

@Trina Nagele – You’re welcome. By the time I got done watching, I almost felt like I knew that dog. The last song, “Goodbye My Friend”, got to me the most.

You and the little on need to keep nice and warm! Love and hugs to Z and Team Zenyatta.

@Alex: From Post 345: As you probably have guessed by now, this blog welcomes all so long as they stay relatively civil to one another (a couple of school marms, and cranky old farts like me tend to get on those who don’t behave :-). This is a healing place, a safe place, a place to dream, day-dream, learn, grow, take action, and above all, love. Some strong friendships, both real and virtual, have been forged here. All this from an other-worldly mare named Zenyatta! Can you believe it? I have enjoyed your posts.

Link to Cara Rafaela Bernie’s Dam, Broodmare of the Year 2006. Wondered what she looked like, she is a grey mare, and her story. She was purchased by Shiek Mohamed when she was pregnant with Bernardini to expand his US breeding operation.

Hi Zenny: Brown looks good on you. I plan to go to the Belmont today. The weather isn’t going to be too good though. And you’re right it is a bit on the cool side. I hope the weather clears up. Take care Zenny. We love you.

@Abigail from Montreal: I am so sorry for the loss of your friend, Jericho.

Talking heads say Shack did not like Belmont
Track in Travers and was held back which he does
Not like either. They are saying
Indiana track is fast, he should like it and use his
Speed and rebound. What do you think?

Am still going to try and be there.

Dear Signofthetimes:
I hope they know what they’re doing with him. I will be rooting for him. Is the Indiana Derby shorter or longer distance than the Preakness? Hugs, JB
Kathy KImber
@LAURA J: You are correct I knew after I posted and was upstairs I had made a mistake. No plans in the works to move P that I am aware of. He was buried whole the others in that cemetary were cremated. So really don’t think they plan to make a move yet. It is a remondous job to that. You have to also remember Skip Away has only been dead maybe what a little over a year. That will be difficult.
Also with *Noor, we had problems on site when we went to bury him but lessons learned and good information for any future moves. Thanks

@Judy B
Preakness 1 and 3/16

Time to throw in the towel .
Did you see link I found on Cara Rafaela above?
Wondered why at one of the sales Bernie sired

@Terry Crow – As usual, enjoyed yesterday’s & day before’s jokes. Also enjoyed the redneck club roll-call, and that we’re improving our ranks by gathering new members continuously. There’s plenty of hay and corn to go around.
