Happy Friday, Everyone!
Suddenly it has become a bit chilly in Lexington. I need to have MY cozy blanket on for my early morning grazing fun with Matt! It is pretty out, though! The fall leaves will start to change soon…and the added color will really make the trees look amazing! This is MY first ‘fall’ in this regard for many years. In California, the seasons do not change as prominently as they do in Kentucky!
I am so pleased that YOU really like the idea of MY PARTY. So many fans have already responded and purchased tickets. If you have done so already…you are definitely in the first 500…so do not worry. The computer people are getting this refined for you so the people purchasing tickets in the future will know this information right away. This should all be completed today. Thank you for your patience!
I am also so excited about the incredible weekend of racing we are all going to be able to enjoy. From the East Coast to West Coast, it is one contentious stakes race after another with so many of the results having Breeders’ Cup ramifications. I love the fact that Havre de Grace and Blind Luck are each performing at such a high level. Their races are going to be so exciting! (I have a special fondness for the LADY’S SECRET which runs this weekend.) Then to see all of the other possibilities…whether turf or dirt for so many other terrific horses…will make handicapping GREAT FUN this weekend!
I can’t wait!
All the best to each of the horses competing during the next few days! All of my pals at Lane’s End and I will be watching!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Zenyatta, I will be at Santa Anita on Saturday to cheer on Zazu in the Lady’s Secret. I watched you win all three times you were entered in this race. This weekend will provide some great racing. Until then, some more redneck humor: How to speak Redneck. BARD – verb. Past tense of the infinitive “to borrow.” Usage: “My brother bard my pickup truck.” JAWJUH – noun. A state just north of Florida. Usage: “My brother from Jawjah bard my pickup truck.”
MUNTS – noun. A calendar division. Usage: “My brother from Jawjuh bard my pickup truck, and I ain’t heard from him in munts.”

The racing across the country is going to be fantastic, Z! :D I hope you are having a great time with your girl friends :) Enjoy the big stakes races.
I wish I could go to your party :/ Hopefully next year I can :D
Take care of yourself and your baby!
Love, Katie(future jockey)

OLD FRIENDS:
Oct 17th when Skip Away will be honored with his grave dedication. This is also Hall of Fame day as they now will have three Hall of Fame horses buriend on the grounds. Creator is already there. *Noor and Skip Away in the new cemetary.
Ceremonies start at 3:00pm that day with Skip Away’s ceremony beginning at 4:00 all are welcome to attend. Would appreciate as many as possible showing support for Skip Away. He was an amazing horse and huge money winner believe he was third behind Curlin, and Cigar.

@Abigail, I enjoyed reading about Jericho. I know it is very hard to lose our BEST FRIENDS. You have great memories of him.

@Rosemary McCauley-Good redneck jokes. Good luck tomorrow. @Signofthetimes-I like Flat Out. But, I haven’t picked a winner since the Ford administration. @Trina Nagele-Thank you. @Susan in TN-Yup, the hay bales cinched the deaL. However, you were already the leading contender. It is Chester and Chopper who are lucky for having you in their lives. @Kari Bussell and Susan in TN-You might be a redneck if you refer to your dog as your dishwasher. You might be a redneck if you put a clapper on your headlights. You might be in a redneck hospital if dogs hang around the OR for scraps. Today’s joke–A priest was sitting non a bench waiting for the bus when a drunk staggered up and sat down. The man was reeking with the smell of alcohol and his clothes were disheveled. There was a half empty liquor bottle hanging out of his pocked and his face was smeared with lipstick. The priest just shook his head. The drunk then took out a newspaper and started reading. After a while, the drunk turned to the priest and said “Father, what causes arthritis?” The priest, thoroughly disgusted with the man, said “It is caused by excessive drinking and association with loose women.” The drunk nodded his head and went back to reading his newspaper. After a while, the priest began to regret his treatment of the drunk. So, he asked him in a kind voice “How long have you had arthritis?” The drunk replied “I don’t. I was just reading that the Pope has it.”

JUDY BERUBE- Thanks so much for the site
focusing on Bernardini. I subscribe to The Blood Horse -both on line and in hard copy- but had missed that special on him. It was very worthwhile.
JAG- Judy, thanks for the Santa Anita program for tomorrow. I will have to go out to the local betting parlor to see the races since Stronach refuses to let
TVG broadcast them.
TO ALL ZSTERS- I always remember to send you positive energy and prayers.
Debbie

@Terry Crow
I guess you are well over due to predict the winner
for JCG. It is going to be a good one. If Flat Out
brings his A game, you might for the first time since
The Ford Admin predict the winner. So many good
Races this weekend.

@Laura J

In the breeding shed and only has one testicle.

Dearest Zenyatta, I cannot believe that a year has passed since I last watched you run—Ladies Secret day, 2010. I went to the track, confident that it would be an extra-specal day, but also very sad, having recently lost someone who was very dear to me. I came away with a memory which shall be enshrined in my heart forever. I will never forget. Love and blessings to you and your team until the 12th of forever.
Cathy Marshall
You look so pretty in your sweater. I hope you enjoy the Fall with Tasty T! Love ya!!

@Kathy Kimber – Thanks for the update about Skip Away. I LOVE Skip Away. He’s always been one of my favorites. I’m going to try to make it to Old Friends for his burial ceremony.

@Barbara Wood – you’re welcome.
First Strike retired due to nagging injuries. I want to thank his connections for doing “right by the horse.” I hope he has a relaxing and a long and happy retirement. He beat one of my favorites, Go Go Shoot, to win the Vanderbilt two years ago. When Fabulous Strike was on – he was really on: http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/racing-news/2011/09/30/fabulous-strike-retired.aspx

JAG from California:
Thanks for the info about Awesome Feather’s return to racing.
I was fortunate enough to see her race and in the paddock at Calder (in Miami).
And she stared right through me and didn’t stop staring until she went out onto the ring. Incidentally, her great-great grandsire Secretariat and her uncle Smarty Jones, were quite famous for their intense stare of eagles. Oh my goodness what an unbelievable experience seeing her was.
I hope she gets back to her old form.
Kari Bussell
My Queen, I Love this picture. You look so cuddly…..I just want to wrap my arms around you and snuggle. I love you beautiful.
Karen Keen
You look adorable in your winter sweater, beautiful girl. Stay nice and cozy and warm. I love you, Zenyatta.

@JAG– thanks for the Funny Cide link. If I remember correctly, they are having one for Mine That Bird toward the end of November.
@Terry Crow–over the top, but lol! anyway.

@Susan in TN—Wonderful news about the “C” cap from DMCQ in honor of Chester! Too cute!
@DMCQ—Thank you for giving Susan in TN such a thoughtful gift—-truly something to smile about! High hoof!

@Sue Frederick, ITA. Tapit, however, is A.P. Indy’s grandson. Pulpit is his sire. Frankly, I think that’s even more impressive–he’s a sire of sires of sires.
–
@Kathy Kimber, I think you mean Precisionist. Creator is alive and well and his handsome haughty self. I’m wondering if they’ll leave Precisionist where he is or move him up front. Do you know?
–
@Signofthetimes, LOL the one worked pretty well for a long time.

@Laura J

With AP Indy as the model. I bet there are very
Few that successful. He is such an awesome guy.
I hope to see him at LE sometime.
