Happy Friday, Everyone!
Suddenly it has become a bit chilly in Lexington. I need to have MY cozy blanket on for my early morning grazing fun with Matt! It is pretty out, though! The fall leaves will start to change soon…and the added color will really make the trees look amazing! This is MY first ‘fall’ in this regard for many years. In California, the seasons do not change as prominently as they do in Kentucky!
I am so pleased that YOU really like the idea of MY PARTY. So many fans have already responded and purchased tickets. If you have done so already…you are definitely in the first 500…so do not worry. The computer people are getting this refined for you so the people purchasing tickets in the future will know this information right away. This should all be completed today. Thank you for your patience!
I am also so excited about the incredible weekend of racing we are all going to be able to enjoy. From the East Coast to West Coast, it is one contentious stakes race after another with so many of the results having Breeders’ Cup ramifications. I love the fact that Havre de Grace and Blind Luck are each performing at such a high level. Their races are going to be so exciting! (I have a special fondness for the LADY’S SECRET which runs this weekend.) Then to see all of the other possibilities…whether turf or dirt for so many other terrific horses…will make handicapping GREAT FUN this weekend!
I can’t wait!
All the best to each of the horses competing during the next few days! All of my pals at Lane’s End and I will be watching!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Here is the link to Bernardi (Bernie) from the Darley US web site:
Look on the left and down to video’s; all of his racing videos are there. There are also conformation photos, pedigree etc… if you click on each topic. Daley has a really nice web site for its stallions. Darley is an international operation in Europe, Japan and
Australia.

Hello Queen Zenny. I would love to come to Kentucky for this event but unfortunately it is near impossible to find a hotel due to Breeders Cup and then reasonable air fare. Would you ask Dottie to consider doing something again like this for next year’s Breeder’s Cup at Santa Ana for your west coast fans? Also, if you wanted to have a charity drawing to come see you – example we could donate to your favorite charity and someone would win a visit with you at Lane’s End (not on Breeders Cup weekend) that would be a great way to raise funds and get an opportunity to potentially come and visit – just a thought. Have a wonderful weekend.

Anyone going to the Maryland Million Day at Laurel Park tomorrow?
Ingrid Arnone
You look so cute, love you Ingrid.

@signofthetimes,I wish I met Zenyatta!! I live in MA. I was lucky enough to see Cigar and pat him, John Henry, stood next Charismatic when he was being saddled for the Lexington Coolmore where he won that race so he could go to the Derby. I have a fond place in my heart for him, he looks so much like my old show horse who was a Thoroughbred and really did not want to run! Lucky for me!! I got to meet Saint Ballado and Candy Stripes and saw Silverbullet Day win the Kentucky Oaks…I had a great time in Kentucky seeing beautiful horses and meeting the nicest people!!
Sharyn
I’ll be watching Zazu in the Lady’s Secret, as I’m sure you will too!
You look beautiful with your Autumn blanket keeping that chill away. Here in Vermont we are already seeing the beautiful colors of Fall!

Zenny – unfortunately I won’t be able to attend your party, but thank you for giving Z fans the opportunity to be able to purchase tickets before its open to the public. Fall is my favorite season of the year, especially here in New England. I love wearing sweaters and enjoying the crisp fresh air. It’s very invigorating.
@Abigail in Montreal – so sorry to hear that Jericho passed on – my condolences to you and your son.
@All – a promising 2-year old, Fire and Ice (a handsome grey colt) is out for the rest of the year with a non-displaced condylar fracture. He’ll be undergoing surgery on Monday. His connections were looking to run him in the Grade 1 Champagne on October 8th. Sending well wishes for a success surgery, an uneventful recovery and best wishes for a full return next year: http://nyra.com/belmont/stories/Sep292011c.shtml
Good luck and safe trips for everyone today as well as this weekend. Good luck and safe trips Stay Thirsty, Uncle Mo, HDG, Blind Luck and Lisa’s Booby Trap!!!

@Alex Bowdoin
WOW !!! You have met a lot of the great equines. Yes, to meet Zenyatta would be wonderful. I am afraid I would want a ride, though. Silverbulletday is a very beautiful talented filly.

Hi Zenny, that is quite a nice blanket that you are wearing and it fits you well. I do think you need to stay warm on the cold days. That is a nice picture of you and Matt, I’m sure he takes very good care of you and also likes the fun times with you. Have a great Friday and also a great weekend. I thought the Lady’s Secret was going to be re-named the Zenyatta stakes now that you are not racing anymore! Sending my love and keep warm sweet Zenyatta.

@Abigail from Montreal
Just read your blog in The Vault on Jericho, what a very special
dog he was and so lucky to pass in you and your sons arms.
I also feel like I knew him after reading the blog. So glad you posted it for us.
sharon in seattle
keep warm in your “bankie” Zenyatta!! we all love you!
@judy b – thanks so much!! all of the good wishes mean so much.
Doreen
Sorry, I forgot to wish good luck and safe trips to Zazu too!!! Love the greys.
Trish & Mike in Colorado
Wasn’t the Lady’s Secret your last prep before the BC, and didn’t they change its name to the “Zenyatta” but you guys asked to change it back? Oh, how we miss you racing, thank you so much for the photos and updates. It’s cute how Havre de Grace has learned to stand and pose . . . kind of like you, but not quite so regally. I wonder what you horses think those cameras are, anyway?
Alex Bowdoin
@Irene, I hope they create a new race in Zenyatta’s name and keep the Lady’s Secret race as it is. She was a Great Lady in her own right.
Mary
Hi Z…..It is going to be cooler this weekend in Central Virginia and cold at nights. I have to pull out the sweats. I will be watching the races this weekend…I am pulling for Uncle Mo and Stay Thirsty. That Uncle Mo is quite a character…I bet you two would like each other…both have great personalities. Hugs to you Z…

Lady’s Secret the daughter of Secretariat win in the 1986 Breederc Cup Distaff.
Mary
So cute in the sweater. Hope its stretchy.
Zenyatta, how much time do you spend outside grazing, on a lead? Is it just for variety/to stay like your racing days, and for you to get out of your paddock for awhile?
Hugs and Prayers

@A.P. Indy fans, I picked up an interesting tidbit on another foru. A poster pointed out that of the seven horses contesting the Jockey Club Gold Cup, five of them are grandsons of A.P. Indy.
LauraJ
Ooops, that’s “another forum.” I can’t type today.

You look nice and warm today…Can’t wait till we can see the little one…Really miss you running…You were so beautiful to watch..Love you

Zenyatta,
Nice sweather, and I must say, a perfect fit. Hopefully it will start to cool down here in Houston, @ all you Texans lol….
@Susanna G.& Judy B, I hope Indian Tale is OK. Seems like they run her too often… Keep eating Big Mama. :)

Re: Question about Lady’s Secret Race name.
I don’t think that the Mosses will allow the Lady’s Secret to become the Zenyatta in deference to Penny Chenery. Ms. Chenery owned the sire of Lady’s Secret (the great Secretariat) and also awarded Zenyatta the initial Secretariat Vox Populi Award. And Mr. Moss is on the board of California Racing and some influence on that matter.
I’m sure that they can name some other race at Santa Anita the Zenyatta Graded Race instead.
To Abiagail in Montreal: I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved dog, Jericho. My little Schipperkee is limping along at age 17 and I feel very fortunate to still have him.
Arlene
Hello Zenny and all, It’s been a while since I’ve posted due to our flooding.
Wow – a wonderful opportunity you’ve given your fans. I don’t expect to be going, but it sounds like a grand time!
We are gradually making progress in cleaning up. We had a lot of help from family, friends and relief volunteers. Hopefully soon we will begin doing some finishing steps so we can begin getting things set back up in our house. We have temporarily set up our computer in one of the corner rooms so we can use it. We’re still staying at my husband’s brother’s nights.
@Kari Bussell – Glad to hear about your treatment. Interesting to hear about your Indian background/tradition. Great opportunity coming up with Zenyatta and her team. The Lord will help you speak – don’t be shy.
Zenny, Wonderful pictures of you!
LOL, Arlene

@Sally B–saw your post and that Jeanie already answered. Thank you so much! Marlene Dodge said that she figured most of the help came from Z-fans.
@ALex Bowdoin–how blessed you have been to have seen thoses great ones. What was your Thoroughbred’s name? Reminds me of our grandhorse:”What? You want me to do that AGAIN? I already did it once. Did I not do it right?” LOL. As you say, lucky for us.
@Doreen–thanks for the info. om Fire and Ice. Prayers for him as well as those running this weekend.
