For the last 3 years, BREEDERS’ CUP has truly been a huge part of my life. It has been a focal point in my career each season. So thanks to ALL OF YOU and the powers that BE…this year I am still going to be completely involved with Breeders’ Cup and the activities…but in a different role than ever before.
I am the OFFICIAL HOSTESS at the INAUGURAL ZENYATTA CELEBRATION
to ‘kick off’ The Breeders’ Cup Weekend Festivities.
Can you imagine this! ME, ZENYATTA, hosting a party at Breeders’ Cup!
I truly hope you can attend!
This has never been done before in RACING. (Blush, Blush!) I am able to invite my fans to come and join ME to celebrate this BIG DAY, Friday, November 4th, at the Kentucky Derby Museum adjacent to Churchill Downs. My Team will be there to join in this celebration by sharing some of our fun experiences, visiting with ALL of you, and signing autographs.
We will have a lovely buffet, my races will be playing, there will be live entertainment, we’ll have many fun products for you to see, and so much more.Breeders’ Cup will even provide the first 500 Z party-goers complimentary seating for Friday’s races. This way YOU can sit together and share in this fabulous day! I think we should call this the Z SECTION!
What is even more special…is I will be there too with ALL OF YOU…via LIVE VIDEO FEED from LANE’S END…to participate in the celebration. Tasty will be joining ME! We don’t want to miss a moment of this memorable occasion!
I simply can’t wait! I will be at Churchill Downs again…with ALL OF YOU…to enjoy great racing, MY PARTY, and share in all of the wonderful times and memories we have experienced during the last 3 plus years at Breeders’ Cup.
Breeders’ Cup has been so gracious. They have granted ME the opportunity to announce this to ALL OF YOU first before they release MY PARTY news to the public next Tuesday. They know how much I adore ALL OF YOU and SO APPRECIATE the relationships we have shared during my career!
LUCKY ME!

How totally exciting, Zenny!! Thank you, Team Z, for this terrific offer! I am studying the possibilties! This is the next best thing to seeing you for real!! At the ultimate venue for racing, no less!
Take care, beautiful girl! Endless Hugs from North Carolina!
@Abigail in Montreal: What a beautifully touching tribute to Jericho at The Vault!
How lovingly mystical. Hugs and thanks for sharing your Earth Angel!
All the very Best to all Z’sters!

Dear Zenny and Dottie! I so love to read from all the comments the Zisters leave! What a great web site this is. Thank you, Dottie, and all your team for keeping Zenny “out there” for all of us. The party is a fabulous event! Will make the B.C. much more interesting. Would be nice to hear Zenny mentioned and credit given to her on HRTV. She has done so much for the sport! Abigail, my heart breaks for you. Jerico will be with you, always! I too had a spirit dog, Sampson. Lost him 10 years ago, and still feel him with me, and will miss him forever. Wonder if we will be blessed with another one? Breaks our hearts when our dog children don’t live as long as us, but we keep making more room in our hearts for another.

@Abigail from Montreal- I am so very sorry for your loss of Jericho. I have been sitting here crying , staring at this page for well over a hour grasping for the words to tell you how deeply (to the core of my being ) your story touched me. Let me start by saying that I am half Cherokee, Cree & Choctaw and half Irish. I have both on each side. While I am very much a Christian, I have been taught the ways of my Native American culture as well as many other cultures. The most precious gift I was ever given is my understanding of animals, which stems from the belief they have a spirit. I believe somethings defy logic and well lets just say…when it comes to spirit dog(animals)….I Believe. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful story and especially for making sure I saw it.There is NO doubt in my mind that you and Jericho will meet again.
Elizabeth
Hope everyone has a great time at your party! You are certainly the “hostess with the mostest! Maybe next year there will be a celebration of you at Santa Anita? We’re already making plans to attend all the races.
>
Condolences to Abigail in Montreal. So sad to hear you lost your beloved Jericho. We have lost 3 darling dogs in 3 years so we know how you feel. Best to you…
Trina Nagele
Dearest Zenny—This is wonderful news. Best wishes to all the Z-sters who can make it! And, Zenny, I hope you’ll host another party at Santa Anita in a year—Santa Anita I can make!
Responses to #345:
@Stephanie—Great idea for a Z calendar.
@Ann Maree—Love the web-cam idea as a fundraiser for charity.
@Linda in NJ—Great suggestion about broadcasting the sounds of those galloping hooves on the track.
@Kathy in Studio City—The Basenji Zenyatta, sister to your Poesy, is gorgeous—so nice that’s she’s a champion too, like her namesake.
@Alex—Beautiful, thoughtful tribute to Z—and that shows the kind of person YOU are, beautiful and thoughtful.
RE: Barbara Livingston’s exquisitely beautiful photoshoot “Saratoga Scenes”—How sweet that Teri Bohl , owner of Code Z, sticks small pieces of carrot into his stall window screen so he can entertain himself extracting them one by one, and hides peppermints in his hay. It’s even sweeter that she is retraining several of her retired racehorses for second careers. High hoof to her! Thanks for the link, Judy Berube!
Responses to #346:
@Kari Bussell—First: Go, Kari, go! Second: Speak, Kari, speak! We’re rooting for you!
@Susan in TN—Sure hope you’ll be there!
@Terry Crow and Rosemary McCauley—Great jokes.
@Gary Moulton—I enjoyed your poem—high hoof!
@Abigail in Montreal–It’s very late now, so tomorrow first thing I’ll go to The Vault to read your tribute to your beloved spirit dog Jericho. Blessings to you both as you each continue your journey, though on slightly separate planes for just now.
Nancy
How can those of us who can’t attend still contribute to show our support of this wonderful – and deserved – honor for you?
Brenda S..
Good morning Zenny, I hope that you and
Tasty had a good night, stormy overnight here in Fort Erie and lots of leaves on the ground this morning.
@ signofthetimes – thanks for the encouraging words about snow. It’s not Ky I’m worried about, it’s NY, PA and Northern Ohio – all along the shore of Lake Erie. Last year, in November, there was a huge storm that closed a lengthy stretch of I90 down for two days, lots of people were stranded so I guess I’m nervous. In this neck of the woods the lake effect snow can be really bad.

i can’t be there, Zenyatta, but I will be hosting another Breeders Cup party, in my “Horse Racing Hall of Fame” room! There are two pictures of you, two of Secretariat, one of the two of you, and one of Seattle Slew! I’ve taken a break from acquiring more photos because I bought a new saddle for my horse and a pop up camper for horse camping! It’s all about spending time with my horse and I know you would support that whole heartedly :) have a great day!
Hideko I. Harris
My hat’s off to Jerry and Ann Moss. You are so generous and gracious. If more horse owners are like you, this industry would flourish.
Joanna from TX
@Abigail in Montreal: hugs for you and yours and a nod to the spirits for Jericho.
He will be in excellent company!
Have a great weekend everyone. I’m going to be glued to the TV watching all the great racing! Go MO, Thirsty, Zazu; hope all runners get home safe!! Get well soon to Fire in Ice with condylar(sp) fracture of a real leg; will be out rest of the year :(((.
Suzanne Metzinger
Z……this is such a great opportunity. I watched you win at both Santa Anita Breeders Cup races and look forward to seeing you via “live feed”. Now just to choose which package I can attend. BYW I love today’s picture of you and the little one.

Dottie and website manager, thank you so much for finding my lost diary entry. I appreciate your expertise and send a BIG thank you. You folks are TOPNOTCH!!!! Zenyatta, only 5+ months to go. I wonder if his/her first steps will be a strut. Love Ya oodles and oodles.
Linda
Can’t be there, but will be there is spirit. Hope one day to see you at Lane’s End.
Ida
Wow Your Royal Highness..You look great with your beautiful baby bump.
Kendra
Just a thought, Zenyatta. Since you will be appearing at the Big Breeders Cup Party via CAM, you might want to have Dottie have them play the “Dancing with the Stars” segment that they played before the 2009 Breeders Cup Race. I know that they will have you looking spiffy and of course, you have that maternal glow about you. You are cool, funny and so, so sweet. Dance on, Zen.

Dear Zenyatta,
You look absolutely beautiful! Wonderful idea to kick-off Breeder’s Cup weekend. I’m with @Pam and @Carol–would love to be there in person but cannot so we’ll be there in spirit. Are there any plans for a video or some TV coverage? Enjoy all the fun and excitement and special thanks to your families for ALWAYS sharing and being so creative. Love and hugs, Suzanne G
@Gary Moulton–great poem
@Dakota–also noticed Mikey hasn’t been riding much lately but he is riding a lot this weekend. If you create a virtual stable on equibase.com, you can put him in as one of your jockeys and keep track of him.
@All–thanks for great links. In case you didn’t see this about the use of whips in the U.K.

Cannot find out what’s going on with this filly (other than Dutrow) but, once again, Indian Tale was scratched from race 8 on September 30, 2011, at LAUREL PARK. Second time she was scratched in past 2 weeks or so.

Hi all NJ Zenyatta people. I just got hotel reservations & tickets for the Zenyatta celebration. Is anyone else from the Garden State going? We should meet somewhere as the NJ contingent !!! I’ve never been to a race track, have never seen a horse race, nor bet on one. Now I’ll be able to say I’ve been to a race track, and I’ve seen a horse race. The betting I don’t even know how to do, so that’s probably still not so much. Are horses really as big as they look? Do ladies wear silly hats to the Breeders’ Cup ala the Kentucky Derby? As I’m fairly silly I do have a Sherlock Holmes deerstalker hat that’s pretty silly looking. Oh horse! Oh horse! I’m really, really, really excited.
Suzanne G
@J Smith and @Judy Berube–in case you miss comment on previous post, would you let me know what email address you’re using to express concern about Indian Tale? I tried emailing jockey club but no response. Thanks! Suzanne G
Pam Green
Yipee already ordered Breeders Cup tickets months ago and now get to party with the Z team !! Will order those tickts next. Thanks Queen Z for the heads up on this wonderful event can’t wait to meet all your team and keep your hooves croseed for me to win a visit with wonderful YOU.
Rita
I love Jerry’s comments on DRF yesterday. He’s talking about Zenyatta being happy, in foal and eating her way across her paddock. And then he mentions that sometimes maiden mares are a little unpredictable with their “due dates.” “Doesn’t matter, though,” he vowed. “Come early March we’ll be back there, camped out, and waiting.”….and so will we Jerry! Can’t wait for a baby Z.
DJ
To Pam Green: Congratulations on your trip to the Breeders Cup! I hope you have a wonderful time and wear our Dumpling “Z” Tag to represent us! :)
Molly
John, thank you for all of your “So Zenyatta” photographs. Hopefully, many of these pics will be in the Zenyatta book, which I hope is in the making. When Mr. Moss accepted the Eclipse Award for Zenyatta as Horse of the Year 2010, he got it Right when he said that there was not one bad vibe in your barn. Last week, when I was visiting horse farms in Lexington, I noticed that the horses DID seem to reflect the emotional tone of the people around them. Thank goodness you were Zenyatta’s trainer and that you have such a terrific wife who was willing and quite able to become the voice of Zenyatta. The Zenyatta Diary means so much to me. Both you and Dottie bring so much happiness to so many. Thank you.

@Abigail of Montreal; Reading about Jericho was so touching; I began to love him too. I am truly sorry for your loss.
