Happy Wednesday Everyone!
Throughout the visits with MY TEAM during the last few weeks, I enjoyed several opportunities to have very, very intimate conversations with MY PAL, Dottie! As you know, she and I speak quite often and constantly work together on several projects. At this particular moment, we are reviewing some exciting plans of things WE anticipate doing in the future. I hope all of these ideas materialize…as they will be SO MUCH FUN!
I must say….I loved the comments many of you made yesterday in the Diary Responses as to what my NEW CAREER choices could be! Several of you are right on target! YOU know ME very well! YOU GET ME! YOU truly know what would be the best way for ME, at this point in my life, to successfully apply my skills and talent towards MY 2nd CAREER! I loved reading ALL of your comments and thoughts on this topic!
Here are some of the options YOU, my dear friends, suggested:
Artist, Spokesmare, Dancing Queen, Entertain Visitors, Model, Actor, Ambassadress for our Sport, being a MOM, tester for Guinness, teacher to both horses and human, inspirational speaker, and philanthropist!
You are ALL TOO CUTE….for thinking about ME in such a fabulous light!
Hooves Crossed!
We will know more tomorrow. I promise!
With Love,
Hugs to All~ (Especially my 91,115 Facebook Friends….WOW!)

Hi Zenny, I’m sure you’re wonderful at whatever you do. This lovely picture of you makes # 500 in my Zenyatta album. I love watching the slideshow, especially when waiting in an airport or somewhere boring. I’m 3 posts behind, will catch up at some point.
Paul
Zenyatta, I read some very good suggestions as to what your 2nd career should be. You will be a mother next March. You already are a great and wonderful teacher and an inspiration to everyone and every horse and every other animal for that matter. I also like the idea of you being a taster for Guinness beer. However, I sometimes think the best second career for you is to simply be yourself. You do that all the time and you are really great at it. After all, horses are like people. No 2 are exactly alike.
tony
Zenny, great picture of “girls” talking…something they do very well.
How about a full length movie of your magnificient self with your team playing themselves, of course.

Dear Susan in Tn:
What wonderful news. Chester and Chopper are too lucky boys to have the love and care of you and Sharon. They certainly will have all the attention they deserve. The pasture and the family helping out sound perfect for them. So happy, too, that Chester and Chopper have become Buds. They will be company for each other every day. Just like Z and TT. You and Sharon are two Angels. Hugs, JB

you and dottie are the pair!

@Kimberly Potter: Thank you! Campaign donations happily accepted here.
@Deborah Richman: Have to love it…”Equicrats.” Or should she run on the “Equican” ticket? L’shanah tovah!
@Abigail in Montreal: Total heartbreak. Sending you a cyberhug.
@Kari B.: 12th heart.

@Abigail, I am so sorry for your loss. It’s easy to see how much Jericho meant to you, and always will. Dogs’ lifespans are even shorter than horses’ and it just hurts to see them go so soon… when you feel more like it, please tell us about him, and share a memory or two with us. Even through more tears, it makes things a bit easier when we share. HUGS

Zenyatta,
“The Look of Love.” What a beautiful picture of you and your BFF Dottie. Ummm!! Wonder what you two are talking about. ;) Anxiously awaiting your next career move. Whatever it is, you will no doubt be the best at it.. Keep healthy and happy Big Beautiful Mama..
Patricia
Zenny, and Dottie, you have created a wonderful place for some wonderful people to gather and share fellowship. This circle of affirmation just gets bigger and stronger every day. THANK YOU. To Mr. and Mrs. Moss, to wonderful John, to David, to Mario and Carmen and Steve and Mike… IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER; you, the Z Team, each have a niche to fill and you have done it admirably, with dignity and humor and grace. Now add the LE team too…
wow, we are blessed.

RE: Zenyatta’s next career move — remember, her first career, for the rest of her life or until nature retires her, is to produce foals. Every year. She may have ten or twelve, or more if she and we are lucky; I cannot imagine her being anything but a VERY good mother. She will always have the best of care and attention, and she will pass that along to her kids.
Anything else she does will be secondary to that, and will have to be fitted in around it. No, she will not become a dressage horse; she has done her performance duty. Yes, she would probably be able to do the advanced movements well, but dressage requires YEARS of daily training to accomplish those upper level movements. That doesn’t fit in too well with broodmare duties. In fact most dressage and showjumper mares have their foals by embryo transfer, with a surrogate mare carrying and raising the foal while the biological mom is off doing more of her performance career thing. Of course this could never be done for a racing Thoroughbred, and any foal Zen has will be intended first for racing.
And the next bubble I am going to pop is the “husband” one— even though handsome Bernardini is perfect for her, she may go to other, different stallions over her career. It’s not often that a mare will have several foals by the same stallion, unless the early ones are very successful, then they try to get a duplicate — which doesn’t happen very often.
Have a great evening, everyone, and I’ll check back in the morning. Sleep well, Zen

@ Susan and Sharon – Chester and Chopper have been adopted and have not one, but two new Mommies. What lucky boys to have you in their life.
@ Terry C – Good one.
@ Melinda K – Welcome to Z-Nation
@ Deborah R – Hope your kitty does well on the antibiotics
Happy New Year to all Jewish Dumplings, or should we say Matzos Balls.
Marian M.
Has anyone nominated you for a US postage stamp now that the postal service has extended that honor to living individuals? If not, might we write to the USPS to nominate you for serious consideration? I know that Secretariat and Seabiscuit appeared on US postage stamps. It would be great to have a Zenyatta stamp. I’d wager that they would sell out in record time.

@Abigail from Montreal– I am so sorry you are facing this unbearabole sorrow. All of us would be there to hug you and wipe away your tears if we could.
@Deborah Richman–sending up prsyers for your kitty. Please let us know how it’s going.
@Lil from KY–sadly, no rain for us this time, although there was quite a bit to the south of us. 102 tomorrow. Getting really, really, old. Thanks for caring.
Margaret Murphy
I know you will be a great addition to any career you choose with Dottie. I’m waiting until tomorrow. My heart is pounding for you in excitement. I want you to be safe and happy whatever you do. You give us so much love just by being Zenyatta the greatest race horse that ever lived. Love you sooooo much. Good luck. High Hooves to you.

Susan and Sharon — YAY!!! for your adoption of those two lucky – and I’m sure grateful – horses. BLESS you both!
Zenny and Dottie – I’m so excited to hear the news. I’m sure it will be something we will all cheer, since that’s the kind of heart that guides Team Z!
Laura Rutkowski
Zenny, you’re my favorite athlete & favorite mare (my gelding JP is my favorite gelding-don’t want to upset him) But you just take things one day at a time. The future will take care of itself. & there will ALWAYS be someone there looking after you & your children. Much love, kisses, & bananas. Laura
Jill in Jersey
Z – I absolutely love the pictures. I must say, I love watching you be a “regular” horse just as much as I loved to watch you race. Being in that big paddock, visiting with your friends, and hanging out with Tasty all day! Can’t thank you and Dottie enough for letting us all share in your experiences. And if you weren’t going to be a mom, I think you would have been a great dressage horse – you already have all the “dance” moves!
Kimberly
Queen Z, you are FABULOUS!!!!!!!

@Abigail from Montreal, I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved dog, Jericho. I know you must be heartbroken. Please know that those of us who love dogs grieve with you. I am so sorry. My husband and I have been there three times ourselves and the pain is awful. I know just how you feel Abigail. You and your family will be in my prayers tonite.
Dottie this is the sweetest picture of you and Zenny. It looks like she is giving you a big kiss. She should. You do such a wonderful job of expressing her thoughts for her!
Kim S
Zenny, you could stand around looking pretty for a 2nd career and I don’t think anyone would mind that at all :)
High Hoofs to Susan in TN and Sharon Call on their adoptions. Great going for Chester and Chopper.
Also High Hoof to Marlene Dodge and Valley View Rescue—oh and to a lot of us for saving those Equine Angels.
@Kari Bussell–prayers and strength to you
@Abigail from Montreal, Phyllis and whomever I’m missing–so sorry for your losses. We are thinking of you and praying for you.
Have a great night Zenny and all Z Dumplingz, Z’sters, Teams Z. We have accomplished and will accomplish more wonderful things.
Lotsa love to all.
Sunny Boyd
Good evening Zenyatta,
it looks like you & Dottie are playing nosies with each other. :)
Too cute, yes, and as competitive as you were in your racing career, you will have no problem in handling your 2nd career.
Indeed, the start of the Jewish New Year began tonight , meals during Rosh Hashanah include brisket, sweet carrots with honey, and traditional challah bread, baked in a circle, which is also served with honey. Also apples & honey and honey cakes to symbolize a sweet new year. Honey and apples seem to be the most important foods.
Well, this is certainly very interesting.
Rest well, and dream sweet :) :) :)

Dearest Z…you have already embarked on the greatest career possible. Mom!
Vicki B.
@Marian M. – You are right, Zenny on a postage stamp would be a runaway success! Larger versions would happily sell too.
Vicki B.
@Abigail from Montreal – I’m sorry you lost Jericho, and are feeling so bad. I’m glad you’re taking the time to grieve.
Jane D
I think you should come and visit all your fans … start with me please!
Love ya!
Vicki B.
@JAG from California – That is good news about the new whip rules. The whip has been the thing I most don’t like about racing.
Barbara Wood
@Marian M.–that is a GREAT idea about a Z-stamp!
@JAG–thanks for the link about the whips. I can’t tell you how many people I know who won’t watch racing because of the whips.
@Sunny Boyd–you’re making me hungry…………

Hi Zenny: I have missed reading your diary over the past few days. But I did go back to see the photos of you with your family. I loved the idea of you being a hairdresser. I tell you Zenny, you could work on my hair and it would be an improvement. With all the humidity here in NJ, I can’t remember the last time I had a good hair day, so I know your skills would come in quite handy. But I tell you Zenny, you should be an Ambassador for your sport. Everyone LOVES you. And I think you should tell the tracks to install microphones around on the track so the fans can hear the hoofs of the race horses as the race. Sound is always very exciting. I can’t wait to read tomorrow’s diary. Take care, Zenny.

@Linda said: I read your post. What is Mine that Bird up to these days. He is a cutie!!
