Good Morning,
My JOHN got a chance to download some of his photos last night…so I wanted to share a few of them with you. It has been so exciting seeing everyone. As usual, we always have a great time together.
Here I am whispering ‘sweet thoughts’ into My John’s ear. At this moment, I really gave a great deal of thought to playing the ‘hat game’ with him as well. It was rather windy at this particular time…so I decided to just ‘kiss’ him on the cheek. I have done this so many times in the past. It brought back so many special memories to ME and I know to him!
What a wonderful day we all shared!
This weekend seems to be packed with a great deal of stakes action at several different racing venues. I am particularly interested in the KENT which is on the turf at Delaware Park and the Pennsylvania Derby on the main track at Parx. Both races are for 3 year olds going 1 1/8. It is great to see how horses continue to develop and mature at this stage. I am especially interested in the Parx race as Bernie sired one of the main contenders, TO HONOR AND SERVE.
I must say, I do keep track of ‘his’ horses and how they are performing at the race track. His babies sold very well in the various yearling sales to date and his horses are running very competitively all over the world! This is such GREAT NEWS!
I’m proud of you, BERNIE!
On the West Coast, Fairplex is concluding their meet…and then back to Santa Anita for their Autumn Meet of Racing. Opening day is September 30th. This marks the beginning of a great time of racing on the West Coast as one terrific race meet follows another from this point forward for the next 11 plus months.
I hope you enjoy all of the FUN! Good Luck to all of the horses competing this weekend!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@Eveline
Love the links, thanks

Zenyatta, while at the track did you have other tricks besides the “hat trick”? I remember hearing that Secretariat used to like to play tricks on his groom. Big Red would grab a brush and run to the back of his stall. You are so regal, yet such a cutie, all at the same time. Little Zen will have mighty big shoes to fill.

@Judy B
Yes, since there have been so many sales, I
Tried to look him up and did not realize he
Was as you said. So Darley and Lanes End
With Mineshaft have two of AP Indy most successful
Sons.
LauraJ
@Eveline, thanks for the entertaining links. Did you know that Anky has taken up reining?

@eveline–thankyou for the update on Better Talk Now. Hope things progress smoothly from now on.

@Laura J–way to go, Uncle Mo!

These photos are great Z. All of you look wonderful and so happy. Glad you had fun with your visitors. We live near Parx and saw To Honor and Serve take it away! Bernie must be proud.

GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!
I know we are closer to our goal of saving the dear horses that Marlene Dodge is so devoted to. I expect she will update her website tomorrow and I will also email her to get an update so we can see how we are doing toward the goal.
I read how the “pile of horse shoes” affected some of you. It did me too. It is like a holocaust if you are an unwanted horse. I have to do something to stop this inhumanity.
Your humble J

For those of you who are interested, here’s a link to a video of Uncle Mo’s and Stay Thirsty’s workouts today: http://www.paulickreport.com/news/thoroughbred-racing/video-unclo-mo-stay-thirsty-have-final-works-for-weekend-stakes/
Also, Thoroughbredtimes.com has stories on Banned and Better Talk Now – nothing really new that hasn’t already been posted. But it’s good to see that things are still progressing along just fine from the earlier posts.
@signofthetimes, @judy berube, @Barbara Wood and @Mary Copelin – you’re welcome!!
@eveline – thank you for the link. It’s good to hear that Better Talk Now is eating up – that’s always a good sign.

Jeanie–you are so right. The sight of that pile of horseshoes haunts me. And no horse is safe, no matter his pedigree or his background.
Dear Z–these pictures you’ve posted here are some of my very favorites. Love you always.

To all who have asked about Pirate Queen and why she’s not with Z now: since Z. lost her first foal and PQ did not, they are now on different schedules. Evidently Z. and TT are due around the same time. I learned this on a Bloodhorse blog.
Jenna
Does she ever take a bad photo? Uh, no. She’s beautiful always.
I’m so happy for your company and their visits. Love you.
Thank you, Dottie, for all that you do.
Nighty night!!

@Anne from Paramount: WHOA! What kind of trip am I supposed to be on??? That would be strange – oh, what the heck – fun too. But alas, I’ve been learning the intricacies of A/C units this past couple of days. Ugh. Look forward to seeing you on 10/8!

For our “Z” Friends who would like to share together a Night Prayer:
…………………………………..
God, thou art the light and day,
Who chasest nightly shades away,
Thyself the Light of Light confessed,
And promiser of radiance blest;
O holy Lord, we pray to thee,
Throughtout the night our guardian be;
In thee vouchsafe us to repose,
All peaceful till the night shall close.
O let our eyes due slumber take,
Our hearts to thee forever wake;
And let thy right hand from above
Shield us who turn to thee in love.
O strong defender, hear our prayers,
Repel our foes and break their snares,
And govern thou thy servants here,
Those ransomed with thy life-blood dear.
Almighty Father, this accord
Through you our Creator, and our Lord,
Who with the Holy Spirit and thee
Doth reign through all eternity.

@Lou in TX: I have never had much luck navigating the ABR site – way too much stuff, so I’ll welcome your post here, or contact me off blog diastu46@gmail.com. Cheryl’s boyfriend and family must be devastated.
