Happy Thursday!
I am still basking in the glow of all of the attention I have been receiving the past few weeks from ‘my family and close friends’. In the Diary posts, several of you asked if MY TEAM was able to come to Lane’s End and visit with ME during the Sale. The answer is ABSOLUTELY YES. They were here on several occasions. We always share so many great times together!
John promised Dottie last night that he would download the photos so we can share them with you. Since everyone is just settling in at home post Del Mar and Kentucky, it has been rather busy. So, I’ll have them for you soon. In some, I’m simply sleeping. I guess they think it is fun to even watch ME do that!
This baby thing is really becoming quite fascinating to ME! I’m learning that babies grow up and that they come in so many different sizes! Here I am with Brian, Jeanne’s grandson. He is absolutely adorable! I can tell he has been around a lot of horses in his life…he knows WE LIKE SNACKS!
I’m off to roam around in the paddock now with Tasty. She is such a dear friend. We are great paddock mates…and get along fabulously!
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Thank you for all the positive messages. <3
@DJ: So happy to hear Shawnee is better!!
Our 27-year-old Paint had a mild impaction colic tonight- not fun but he is fine now. Thank you, God.

Dearest Z, I’m just part way through reading, but I want to make some responses now, more later.
@DJ—I’m so relieved to get the good news about Shawnee. High hoof!
@Dawn Conrad—LOVE that Snowman! Here’s a link http://www.showjumpinghalloffame.net/inductees/snowman.shtml
@JAG—Terrific story about the gutsy horse and rider charging the bear that was after the little boy. Hoof ray for them!
@Viktoria in Russia—So nice to read your post and learn the Russian for Queen Z.

Good night all and especially you, sweet Zenyatta and Baby Z. Off on a short vacation. Will have lots to catch up on when I come back. I really enjoyed the photos on the foal project site. Thanks to all. Everyone take care.
So sad to hear about Banned’s injuries. Such a dark side to thoroughbred racing. Makes us realize that with all the best care in the world sometimes bad things happen. Thanks to all who took care of you Zenyatta.
Marshall (girl's name)

@JAG: Yhanks so much for the link about Tonk and Erin. Ecstatic that Erin bought Tonk! I love Happy Endings!
@DJ: Great update on Shawnee! Hope the healing continues splendidly. Hugs!

Sorry, that should be “Thanks”! I am very sleepy! Goodnight, everyone!

Dearest Z, I’m still reading, not through yet.
@Kimberly Potter—Here’s hoping all your grizzly bear encounters are at a safe distance! Glad that your daughter-in-law has made it to 36 weeks and counting—hope your son will be back for the blessed event. Hugz back to you.
@Joanna from TX–The Foal Project is so beautiful!
@Eveline—Great article on fillies and mares.
@Judy Berube—Hope your toy poodle will be OK for many, many years.
@Deborah Richman—I hope your tabby gets good news tomorrow. Hugs.
@Especially Horses—I’d love to get some vareniki or one of those quilts at the Mennonite Sale and Auction. What I can offer in return, is a way you can make the Z’s diary pictures larger if your computer works like mine. First, to highlight the picture, place the cursor in the upper left corner, click and hold the mouse down while you drag the cursor to the bottom right corner—you can include diary text too if you wish. Then copy and paste into WORD. Next left-click on the picture—a line will appear around the picture’s edge. Place the cursor in the lower right corner on the line—it will turn into a two-headed arrow. Left click, hold the mouse down and drag the corner down and to the right to enlarge the picture. Hope this works for you.
Also, you can make the whole diary page, pictures and text, 50% bigger simply by clicking twice on the tiny magnifying glass (on my computer, when I’m on the Internet, it is in the lower right corner of the screen just above the time) and selecting 150%, or select 125% (a single click of the mouse) if the image gets blurry for you at the higher magnification. This makes it much easier to read with senior eyes, I find. You can also click on the tiny arrow to the right of the magnifying glass to select a different magnification.
I’ll ask my ex about how to make a picture into your wallpaper, or maybe another Z-ster can tell us all. (If you would like directions for COPY and PASTE, or want a clarification of the above, you can e-mail me at trinambn@yahoo.com.)

Goodnight, sweet Z, till the morning light.
@Brenda S—I can just see Sizzle nosing and pushing you to get those peppermints!
@Terry Crow—Love the blond joke.
@Banned—Hope you win this fight. Prayers for you.
@Susan in TN—Oh my goodness! Thank God your paint recovered from that episode! Hugs.

How lucky indeed! All that have seen you since your retirement are certainly lucky. I hope they realize how jealous the rest of the long time Z fan are. Too bad we couldn’t have hidden in one of their pockets. Then again, Z might have thought we were a treat! ha
Brooke(From Mrs.Voltz 5 grade class)
Dear Zenyatta I just came back for the barn. Its funny when Dusty filps her lip up when she dont like somthing. My Mom and I went out to buy some treats for the horses. We bought apples flavor oats. So we took them out to the barn.Dusty pickey. She did not like them. But the others like them. One of the horses Hoss was laying on its side. We thought somthing was worng. But then he was rolling on his back. And got up.And a horses name Winnie shows off and digs her hoof in the dirt like you Zenyattta. And when she wants treats.LOL. They all say hi.I had the ribons in my hair and Dusty tried to eat them. Those and very important to me and Mrs.Voltz.:) I just wanted to tell you They said hi. Bye Zenyatta Love Brooke

@Peggy (N), did LE tell you they were closed to visitors the whole month of September? Their website says no tours during the sales, but that’s only two weeks out of the month. If they are open before and after, get to Kentucky a few days prior to the sale, or else plan to stay a few days afterward.
Stella Bagwell
Dearest Zenyatta,
You look fabulous as always! I missed you while the sale was going on, but I’m sure you’ve heard a lot of exciting news and tidbits about the yearlings that you’ll eventually share with us.
Yes, being a mother is fascinating business. You’re going to be amazed at how quickly it all passes, and how busy your little one will keep you until he or she grows up! :)
I notice that the fences at Lane’s End are very tall as you’re an extremely tall girl and you have to stretch to get your head over. I suppose the height prevents you and Tasty from getting too playful and wanting to jump!! :)
Have a lovely weekend with all your friends.
Hugs and kisses,
Stel
LauraJ
@Trina N., the photos aren’t high enough resolution to make good wallpaper, and the aspect ratios are off. I tried just for kicks. Looks terrible. Sorry.
Allen
Brian is one lucky little boy. Can hardly wait for John to download the pictures. You are looking great Z, have a good day.
Sally B.
Sweet Z; What a perfect Fri. morning; I was surprised by your Thurs. post! I knew you had your Z Team visiting & they were busy. I love you Zenyatta and adore your pictures John and others take. Glad you have your friend Tasty, friends are wonderful. Still wish I could see you!!!! love with 2 kisses on your soft nose, one for baby z

@Peggy(N) –it is a small world, indeed. So glad you got rain. Yes, it’s difficult to go at a time when it’s convenient for LE. In the summer, it’s too hot for me, and I don’t want to go in Nov. with all the BC crowds spilling over.
@Susan in TN–joining you in giving thanks.
@All who donated to the Valley View rescue project–just got word that 5 of the horses have been saved!
Suzanne G
Hi Zenyatta,
You look gorgeous! How lucky that you find such good photographers wherever you are and so many sources of treats–large and small! Thanks to your families for sharing and taking such superb care of you.
Love and hugs,SuzanneG

Indian Tale is running tomorrow at Belmont, Race: 8 – 4:45 PM.
Wrote to Jockey Club about her recent workout but no response.

It would be really awesome if Zenyatta could get to 100,000 Facebook fans before the Breeders Cup this November! Let’s all try and make it happen. Tell all your friends and family to Like her page. Thanks

@Trina M Nagele: I actually “played” with the photos this morning. I did a right click on the photo (the one where Z is looking down at little Brian), a menu came up and one of the choices was “Save as Background”. I clicked on “Save as Background” and the photo was saved as my Desktop Background. As LauraJ mentioned it is not the best resolution. But it is centered on my desktop and is only covering about ¾ of the screen so it’s not too bad. I’ll probably keep it for a few days and then go back to using my old background.

Regarding the Vareniki dumplings (which I spell as Verenika), the dumplings are filled with a hoop cheese. They’re eaten with a gravy-like sauce, sour cream or maple syrup and are often served with German sausage and wiebach (Mennonite rolls, pronounced like sweebuck).

Ahhhh, those pictures are adorable and Brian is too cute! I sooooooooo hope I can meet you some day, Zenyatta! You’re so beautiful and I love you!
Dottie, I really love reading Zenyatta’s diary. You do such a great job! We do so appreciate it!
Sally B.
@Jag from Calif. thanks for the links, especially the wrangler story & hero Tonk; glad she bought him!!
@judy berube, thanks for the link to Z’s newer pictures and news. Z’s just too lovely & special. Do you have a link to A.P. Indy photos from early on to now? Just thought I would ask. Thanks again.
@Patti (N) You said one can not visit the stallions in Sept.? in Kentucky. October, Nov. must be safe months to visit then?
Cynthia H.
@Abigail in Montreal: Many thanks for the Genuine Risk link.

For all our lovely “Z” Friends who would like to start this new Day with a Morning Prayer:
…………………………………..
As we worship, grant us vision,
Till your love’s revealing light,
Till the height and depth and greatness
Dawns upon our human sight;
Making known the needs and burdens
Your compassion bids us bear,
Stirring us to faithful service
Your abundant life to share.
Called from worship into service
Forth in your great name we go,
To the child, the youth, the aged,
Love in living deeds to show.
Hope and health, goodwill and comfort,
Counsel, aid and peace we give,
That your children, Lord, in freedom,
May your mercy know, and live.
……………………….Albert Bayly

@Laura J—Thanks for the info about the photos not being suitable for a screensaver —you are an amazing source of knowledge for all of us here, not only for all matters equine but also for computer expertise. Thanks again for all your ceaseless contributions.
@Especially Horses—Glad you’re enjoying the larger pictures despite the loss in resolution.
