Good Morning,
I’m hearing from MY TEAM that ‘working the sale’ requires a great deal of effort, hard work, concentration, and energy! They get up very early each morning and leave for the sales grounds. By that time, David and his crew have already gone over ALL of the horses to be offered that day and come up with the ‘short list’ which Dottie, John and The Moss’ review. All aspects of the individuals are evaluated: conformation, size, pedigree, walk, and other physical qualities! Monitoring the horse’s overall temperament is also a part of this process.
Each horse on this list is inspected. If they make this ‘cut’, the veterinarian then examines the horse and his / her xrays in the repository. The VET also scopes the horse’s throat to be sure “all parts are working well’ for good breathing to take place. A good throat is essential for a race horse!
Once a horse passes all of these steps, the decision is made as to the fair market value of the horse. As many of you may know, at an auction people can get caught up in the bidding. MY TEAM tries to be very careful not to do this. They thoroughly appraise each horse before the bidding begins and really try to stay within those limits while bidding.
If all goes well and the hammer falls while a particular HIP they are bidding on is in the ring, they sign the ticket and he or she is now a part of the racing stable!
Attending a sale as this one, is really a fun process…but truthfully a great deal of hard work. Every moment of every day while there is totally consumed with the SALE. It is all about planning for the future and getting the RIGHT HORSE for the program!
As you can see, BABY REAGAN is resting up for all of the company and activity this week. I think she wants to stay up a bit late on Monday night to see my relative, HIP # 147 sell! I do too!
By the way, HRTV is carrying the first few sessions live on their programming schedule. Otherwise, the internet is the best way to follow the events.
HMMM! This baby thing is rather interesting to ME! Reagan was born on March 7th, 2011. That is about the time MY BABY is due in 2012! I just didn’t realize human babies are so small! They told ME my baby will weigh about 125 pounds or so when he/she is born.) This becoming a MOM is really a fascinating process! I’m learning!
Enjoy the week, the racing, and the sales! Dottie is attending them this week and also spending time visiting with ME! When she returns home, we will update you on all of the action. She also promises that MY JOHN will take some terrific photos of ME to share with all of you!
With Love,
Hugs to All~(To my dear fan who made the Z BLANKET as a thank you….THANK YOU! It is absolutely priceless!)

@Dearest Trina, you are so talented. What lovely prose! I am sorry that your friend has such a tough row to hoe. If she needs someone to listen, my e-mail is posted above. TBI is something that you have to experience to understand. Wow! Her car rolled into a ditch..mine did too-I was hit me so hard, my car traveled across four lanes of traffic and ended up in the ditch inches from a telephone pole! I was so lucky!
@Barbara and Judy you are both so kind, I feel so blessed that Zenyatta has brought us all together.
@Alexandra, I hope that you get to opportunity to meet Zenyatta, she is “Magic!” Mrs. Moss is often quoted, “She chooses to be kind.” After meeting all the team at Barn 55, you know that she learned kindness from them. They are the real deal. John Shirreffs is so kind, and patient with her fans. No matter how many fans were visiting, Steve Willard, Frank Leal, our darling Mario, and Michele Jensen made sure that each person had their picture taken with Zenyatta. Many times, they took the pictures! Every so often would give Zenny a little break, then they would bring her back for more love and pictures. The entire team exhibited the patience of Job, day after day, in order to share her with her fans. My friends have met her sister, Eblouissante, and say that she is remarkable, too. So perhaps you should plan on meeting her someday. :)

@ Abigail I also wanted to tell you that I loved the article about Eddie Sweat. You are such a gifted writer :)

Ha! My artist friend, Judith Berkshire Jones, also met Team Z after the lecture! She introduced herself and told Dottie she’s also an artist (a great one, I must say!)
———-
Then I got a message from Judy this a.m. She was coming out of the Starbucks near Keeneland when Team Z was getting out of their car :-) Judy thanked them again for everything – TOO CUTE! Judy, now you know how we’ve felt all this time – to rub elbows with “TEAM ZENYATTA’S GREATNESS”! :-))))

@Susan in TN: I’ve got a few critter friends who are enjoying Tiny’s company but I’m sorry he went so suddenly.
The redneck jokes…I think this one is from Jeff Foxworthy ‘ You know you might be a redneck if you go to a family reunion looking for a date.’ (kinky, I know but still funny!)
The Moss’s got another Tapit filly! Tapit has turned out to be an outstanding sire, especially of fillies…Jerry and Ann have Zazu (I love her). And the new girl has Mr Prospector on the dam side.
Take care everybody!

Has anyone heard the results of voting for the cover of the Breeders Cup calendar? Last I heard Zenyatta was well ahead in the voting. And, does anyone know how/where we will be able to purchase one of the calendars if Zenyatta is on the cover?
Also, you might be a redneck if you think a stock tip is advice on worming your hogs.

@All—Brenda shared her story above about receiving a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and her long struggle to regain faculties that she’d lost.
To Brenda
Thank you for your kind words
About my prose.
But I couldn’t leave it there,
So here goes–
A Poem for Brenda
We heard above from our dear Brenda,
Who sadly had needed to mend a
Brain injury from a car accident
(O the lament
At that tragic scene!)
Caused by a careless teen.
For a lack
Of the best mode of attack,
She suffered twenty-some years
In frustration and tears
Till she found
Something new
To do
To bring her around,
And she put it on her agenda.
Now our dear Brenda
With neurofeedback
Is as sharp as a tack!
Her brain now is sound!
And to her we say
“Hoof, hoof, hoof-ray!”
And a heart-felt “Welcome back!”

A friend had this posted on FB–
The Pentagon announced today the formation of a new 500-man elite fighting unit called the US Redneck Special Forces (USRSF). These southern boys will be dropped in Afghanistan knowing only these facts about terrorists.1. The season opened today. 2. There is no limit. 3. They taste just like chicken. 4. They dont like beer, pickups, country music or Jesus. 5. They are directly responsible for the death of Dale Earnhardt. The Pentagon expects the problem in Afghanistan to be over by Monday

Dearest Trina,
You are AMAZING! Thank you so much! This really made my year! I was only telling my story to reassure another that you could make a full recovery. I have never had a poem. I am speechless! I wish I had the words to thank you! This has been the perfect ending to a great day!
I have something I would like to send to you. Could you e-mail me?
Hugs

@Trina Nagele, Judy Berube and signofthetimes-Thank you. Glad you have enjoyed the jokes. @Sunny Boyd-The Custer battlefield is an amazing place. Enjoying your jokes. I especially liked the one about Santa Claus. @Joanna-That was a good one. Are you willing to be a member of the redneck club? January 27 is important to the members. @Rosemary McCauley-Good one. @JAG-Thanks for the link to the Churchill-Jockey’s Guild situation. Looks like trouble ahead. @Annie-Would be interested in your blog but the URL did not come through when you posted.@DJ-Welcome back. @Kari Bussell-You might be a redneck if bikers back down from your momma. This diary entry has gone on for some time. I’ll just post a short joke for today. It is sort of aa redneck joke, but both longer than one of those and shorter than one of the usual variety. A family was being visited by a redneck relative, a brother of the husband. The husband’s wife was about to have a baby, actually twins. The time came, and everyone piled into the car to take the wife to the hospital. On the way, another car ran a red light and plowed into them. Everyone was knocked unconscious except the redneck brother. When the husband came to in the hospital, the brother said that he had called an ambulance and took care of everybody and that the babied had already been born. He further stated that it took so long for everybody to come to that he had to name the kids, one boy and one girl. The husband asked “What did you name our daughter?” “Denise” the brother replied. Giving a sigh of relief that his brother didn’t do anything stupid, he then asked what he named the boy. “Denephew,” he said.

@Kari and Judy – constant thank yous and hugs for your thoughts and good wishes.
@Susan in TN – my heart goes out to you on the loss of Tiny. My precious terrier mix, 13 year old, Flores, died in July of heart failure. I was devastated and am still healing from what lots of us know to be a heart-breaking experience. May Tiny rest in peace.

Happy Weekend my Queen…I hope you are having the time of your life with your family…and munching on all that fabulous Kentucky bluegrass……I love you so very much. Your light shines all the way here to Tennessee.Your blessings are endless.
@DJ-I am so glad you are back..I was very worried!!
@Terry Crow-check your email…Great Jokes!
@Laura J- It was raining and they were all in their stalls in the barn…..My trip was very sudden and unexpected…I have family & loved ones in KY… It was in the afternoon and I had exhausted myself playing with a Arabian named Dancer before we got to the Hall of Champions..We had to head back home…I did not get to see the shows…Go for Gin was in his stall. The medal criss/cross on the door did not make for a good photo or video or I would upload then to share so others could see how fit they all look….Cigar was the only one where they opened the door…We were walking away and the very kind lady heard me tell my husband how disappointed I was that I couldn’t get a good look of him at least and she kindly opened his door for me…Cigar- however, did not appreciate the invasion of his space-LOL…I love that the still has his spunk! I don’t know if GFG has been added to the show…
Peggy(N)- i left a comment for you way above, but it was late..I was tired a left it to wrong person-.You are in my thoughts ans prayers & I am believing that you will get Great news!

@Denise in AZ and Terry Crow: Loved the jokes. Have a great weekend everyone. ZENYATTA – we hope to hear from you sometime next week about your visit with your family.
Vicki B.
@LauraJ – Thanks so much for your equine & racing knowledge.
@Terry Crow, @Denise in AZ, & @Rosemary McCauley – Nice redneck jokes, thanks. Terry, those Phis’ mom is definitely a redneck. Denise, I Love the USRSF! And Terry, liked Denise/Denephew, that’s a good one.
@Terry Crow – Annie’s name itself, above where she said “This is the URL” is the link to her Blog.
@Terry Crow – I didn’t know the info on Jesse James’ second funeral, but I think I had heard Quantrill’s group was outside the army. I watched most of Ken Burns ‘The Civil War’ series — did you see it? I wished I could’ve met my grandfather, too. On the farm, he “went thru” 2 wives, they just kept having kids, who all picked the beet fields, and almost all ran off & married in their teens. He was 25 with his 1st child, and 65 with his 12th, who he lived to see grown up, in the Air Force in WWII. It was a different era.
@Brenda – Yours is an amazing story. I had no idea neural recovery could still happen, after so long. Incredible and Excellent!
@Sunny Boyd – Like the horses in creek story. And the Rodney D. jokes.
@Lil from Ky – as others mentioned, I’d love to hear more details of the UK seminar, if you are interested in telling it.

What a great article on top females; like the way it was said the BCLC is going to be war. I really love the 1998 BCC that Larry Jones talked about, 4 great colts come to the line almost together and Awsome Again wins. What an awesome race!!!!
