Happy Friday Dear Friends,
It truly has been an eventful week. The 2 primary summer race meets completed their sessions…and now both Belmont Park and Fairplex open their individual meets. Good Luck to All!
Fairplex is a lovely ‘fair’ meet which runs on a ‘bullring’ race course. This means that the oval is a 5/8ths mile track. They do not have a grass course. All races are run on the main track. Belmont Park is beginning their fall meet and they will offer several major stakes and prep races for the Breeders’ Cup. When the Santa Anita Autumn Meet begins on September 30th…they will have the same quality for their stakes program. The fall racing action is really heating up!
Also, on Sunday, the KEENELAND SEPTEMBER YEARLING SALE begins. The sale will open with 2 evening sessions…which begin at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. These 2 sessions are offering some very fashionably bred yearlings. They are listed in BOOK ONE of the sales catalogs.
When a sale is going to take place, the sales company, Keeneland in this case, prepares a ‘SALES CATALOG’. The catalog provides you with all of the pertinent information relating to the sale and the conditions for the sale. It then lists the horses by HIP NUMBER starting with Hip #1. This way when you are reviewing the catalog, you use this number to find all of the information on a particular horse, the date it is being offered during the sale, and all of it’s detailed pedigree information.
HIP # 147 is of special interest to ME! The colt is a very close relative of mine. He is by STREET CRY (IRE)…my sire…and out of BALANCE. She is my 1/2 sister by Thunder Gulch. What makes us 1/2 sisters is that we have the same MOTHER…VERTIGINEUX.
This colt sells on Monday evening. The bidding on him will be very exciting to watch. You may also follow the activities on your computer. Go to KEENELAND.COM, then click on SALE…and select LIVE for the actual viewing of all of the action as it is taking place. This sale lasts for approximately two weeks. All sessions after the first two start in the morning at about 10 Eastern Time.
The catalogs and pedigree pages are on the web-site for you to review as well. It is really quite fascinating to see this side of our industry.
By the way, BLUSH–BLUSH, my photo is on the cover of BOOK ONE. My pal, ZAZU, has her photo on the cover of BOOK TWO. We are both ‘graduates’ of the September Keeneland Yearling Sales.
MY TEAM is coming to Kentucky for the sale…and most importantly they told ME…to SPEND TIME AND VISIT WITH ME! I can’t wait!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

My thoughts and prayers for those who died or lost love ones ten years ago this Sunday.
Good luck and safe trips to everyone this weekend.

Z the first thing I noticed was they didn’t have the chain over your nose during your bath! Either you know and trust your people so much now or they were bribing you off camera with treats…
Have fun with your mom and dad. I want to hear all about it. Are John and Dottie coming to–to see you?
Alene

Catching up with all the good people here! Have been busy putting up our new website, http://www.equi-army-ndo.com, a dumpling site and group dedicated to the welfare of horses. Hope you join us…
ABIGAIL FROM MONTREAL:very impressed with your article and loved learning about what you wrote! Thank you! TERRY: I always wonder–now where does this man get all of these jokes–from Captain Billy’s Whiz Bang of Music Man fame? You never miss!!! KARI: how I love that new video–how it shows the incredible charisma, class and elegance of Zenny–she is a oner, and we all know that…everytime I see her in a video, I just love her more…JAG from CA:loved the Power Rankings–I sure wish my sweet Shack’s trainer would put him in shorter races so he can go up on that chart where he belongs…thanks for the hat postings–got mine in the Royal Purple of Zenyatta!!! Also, thank you for the film of Julie Krone–great to see her again. MICHELLE–I posted your message on http://www.equi-army.com about the wonderful people rescuing horses in the Texas fires–thank you. SUNNY B: love your quotable quotes! SIGNOFTHETIMES: I marvel at your knowledge of horses–like I marvel at LauraJ’s. Appreciated seeing the British race and wonder why their tracks are so much wider than ours! We run counter clockwise and they run clockwise! JAN: thank you for helping the horses in the Texas fires. I wish there was some way the clouds could be seeded or something to break the drought…I worry and pray about it all the time. ESPECIALLY HORSES: YESSSSS! A great statue of Zenny at her favorite California track–perhaps it could be an exact replica of the magnificent statue made earlier this year that few of us can afford!!!!!!!
ZENYATTA AND DOTTIE: you have no idea how your love and kindness and heart have changed my life. I was happy before, with lots of friends and activities, but now I am a humble but happy member of Zenny’s dumpling family…every time I see Zenny’s films or photos I am just so amazed at her beauty and class and uniqueness. We are so lucky to know her!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE AND HUGS TO ALL!

Dear Zenyatta – Your picture today is just beautiful. Having fun with the sprinkler and two nice young men! Pretty much have our power back in San Diego, but they closed the beaches due to pollution in the areas of Del Mar and Solana Beach. I love your more rounded appearance. Have fun with your family and I for sure will enjoy waching some of the sales on live video. Thanks Dottie for the great updates. We love them

WHOOPS!! Forgot to post this earlier…it is a photo of the billboard Equi-Army-NDO.com will be installing near the Mountaineer track in a few days. This was the track where Deputy Broad was sold to slaughter. We are very proud of this first group step together, trying to make people aware of a part of racing that we wish to change for the benefit of the sport. We don’t want racing to end…we want it to correct itself and treat its horses better and its backside people better.

How wonderful that your family is coming to visit you, Zenny! And it is marvelous that they will be speaking at University of Kentucky, free and open to the public! I hope many Z-sters can go.
@Diana S—You’ve done a really super job on the new and improved “annex” which is now user-friendly. It’s a beautiful site and will certainly make a difference. High hoof!
@All—The new “annex” addresses the problem of US horses being sent to slaughter outside our borders and offers people easy ways to be part of the movement to stop that inhumanity. It’s not graphic, thank goodness—no one need fear seeing anything gruesome. http://www.equi-army-ndo.com

@Barbara Grimaldi–GREAT BILLBOARD! High hoof!
Trina Nagele
@Doreen—Thanks for the great links!
Barbara Wood
Big Z–Look at you! You are going to have such FUN this weekend, and your team is as well.
@Sue Fredrick and Susan in TN–thank you for your prayers and concern. 180 fires at the last count.
@Kimberly Potter–thank you as well. Mommy and baby still ok?
I want to agree with Barbara Grimaldi. We saw what a huge difference we made when we Zsters were able to help rescue 4 horses a while back. What one of us can’t do alone, many of us banded together can do.
@Terry Crow–you are just full of it today!
