Good Morning,
I was out walking and enjoying myself the other morning…just taking life nice and easy…when here comes KITTY. She is one of my new Lane’s End Farm friends.
I absolutely love other animals…and on this morning…I was able to spend time with KITTY. I hope she was not concerned that our sizes are so different. I really am very gentle!
I must say, I am quite used to being around cats. At BARN 55, we had 3 of them who were all really a part of our daily lives. They constantly relaxed around the barn and ‘hung out with us on the grass by the trees’ while we were grazing.
This particular cat reminds me so much of home. KITTY is the exact same color as one of MY BARN 55 cats. For 5 years, she was very much a part of my life. Each morning, when they’d wash the saddle pads and set them out in the sun to dry…she would go out to the grass and nap on them. No matter what happened, she’d just relax there, in the sun, and enjoy watching us graze each day! Often, we’d have to graze right around her. She wouldn’t even move…she was so used to us! I think deep down inside, our Barn 55 Kitty always knew we would watch out for her!
Such FUN!
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@J Smith..stopped by the TROTT table on PC day to say “hi” but you were not there. Heard it was a great event.
Tomorrow (or today for some)last day of Del Mar :( but then Santa Anita soon, just a longer drive, but well worth it.
@Kari and Sharron..sending prayers and hugs.
@DJ Thank you for your beautiful prayers (as always) <3
Sweet dreams to all. Good night

One year our mama cat had her kitties in the feed bin for my mare and she would look down on them and they would not move. Horses are so awesome!!

@Terry Crow – Thanks! In what you wrote earlier, it kinda felt like you were saying something similar.
@Kim S – Thanks for the rescue story!
@Delrene – I agree about the new posters, maybe it’s partly because of today’s cat producing a warm and fuzzy feeling.
@everybody – In the bio of Kincsem, 54-0 (1874-1887), a great cat anecdote: “…a minor catastrophe occurred after the filly was unloaded from her ship. Kincsem had developed an intense fondness for a particular cat, which, along with a young lad named Frankie, traveled everywhere with her. On this particular occasion, the cat was unable to be located. The distraught filly refused to budge, calling incessantly for her cat. This went on for two hours. Finally, the truant feline heard her friend’s neigh and came running. The cat jumped on Kincsem’s back, and once reunited, horse and cat were loaded aboard the waiting train to take Kincsem to the racecourse.” http://www.tbheritage.com/Portraits/Kincsem.html

Dearest Zenny, I’m still trying to catch up.
@Dunie—“Can a cat look at a queen?”—Good one!
@Terry Crow—Good ones.
@Sherry Dish—Thanks for the explanation of the expression “to get one’s goat.”
@Shirley and Linda—-More thanks for the charming kitty and kitty-and-horse stories.
@Susan in TN—Good point about trying to pick friends for someone else, but ya gotta try, at least with Chopper and Chester. Good luck to you all.
@All Texans, two-legged and four-legged—Praying for your safety. Condolences to those who have lost dear ones and possesions.

OK, Z, now sleep tight till the morning light. I’m glad that new posters joined us today.
@Brenda S—Had to laugh at your too cute description of what people must think of the nail marks left by that golden on your face. So sorry…
@Kim S—It thrills my heart to read that you have found your calling at the rescue—I’m very happy for you and for them! And it’s so nice that your daughter is joining you. Wishing you both all the best in your equine endeavors.
@Cynthia H—Love the picture of your mom, kitty, and Z at Barn 55 on Z’s fb page. Thanks for sharing! I was sorry to read just now that your dear mom isn’t well– please tell her that the Z-sters are thinking of her and wishing her a speedy recovery from what ails her.
@Jackie Feinberg—So sad. I hadn’t heard about the horses lost in Irene. And now horses are dying in the Texas fires—two that I’ve heard of, and I hope there aren’t more.
@Deneen in NE—So nice to hear from you!
@Vicki B—Great post about Kincsem and her kitty!
@Erin—Loved your posts.

@Vicki B. I enjoyed the link to the story of the friendship between Kincsem and her cat. The picture with it seems to be of her, her cat and Frankie. This was a great story. I hope that Zenyatta has such a loyal feline with her. Kitty appears to be as impressed by the Queen as the rest of us.

ZENNY & DOTTIE: What a sweet picture! A great, great mare saying hello to a tiny little fur-ball…..my 3 kitties are so excited. They want to know if they could visit you too!!!!!

@Vicki B-Thank you for posting the link on the history of Kincsem. Wow. I love everything Zenyatta & thanks to everyone here I am learning so much about other famous race horses & their stories. It’s such a pleasure to read the diary each day.
@Zennie-A long time ago, I moved my horse to a new boarding stable. Every morning, a soaking wet cat would run to greet me. Every one questioned why & how this cat was suddenly consistantly so wet-until we saw the answer. This cat would leap into my horses stall & receive a daily grooming courtesy of my horse. He would just lick & lick. Your diary post just reminded me of this past memory & made me smile.

Good morning Zetty,
I have a cat story, too, for you to read with your oats & pears. Haha
Some yrs ago during the autumn I visited a little bitty feed store, catering mostly to the appetites of the two-legged with wings types and their patrons. Itsy bitsy little store, could hardly turn around in it. You would have never fit inside, not even in your lean &(mean?) days, that’s how small it was. Anyway, I stepped up to the counter where one of those really old cash-registers was still being operated by the very old store’s owner. And next to it, all curled up in great big ball was the biggest Russian Blue, I had ever seen. His head perfectly snuggled into his chest, only one of his bright green eyes opened and stearnly fixed on each customer. “He’s all the shot-gun I need”, answered the owner to my question of safety, him being there alone, in an isolated area.
He was truly the biggest ‘Blue’ I have ever seen. Very impressive.
Have a great day :) :) :)

Wonderful picture showing how inquisitive and sensitive Zenyatta really is!! You’ll make a great mom, Zenny.

Good Morning to my sweet Zenyatta and Z family. If you go on the Peppermint Pals.com website everyone can see the horse my class is going to be writing to. She is so pretty and sweet. Zenyatta started it all. How blessed I am to have her and all of you in my life. Love, Shari

For “Z” Friends who would like to share a Morning Prayer:
…………………………………
When morning fills the sky,
Our hearts awaking cry:
May Our God be praised.
In all our works and prayer
His almighty love is there:
May Our God be praised.
The night becomes as day,
When from our hearts we say:
May Our God be praised.
The powers of darkness fear
When this glad song they hear:
May Our God be praised.
Let earth and sea and sky
From depth to height reply:
May Our God be praised.
Let all the earth now sing
To our eternal King:
May Our God be praised.
By this eternal song,
Through ages all along:
May Our God be praised.

Hi Zenyatta. What a great picture of you and the gorgeous kitty. Just beautiful. I remember seeing a kitty just like her at Barn 55 – too cute!! Love the idea of the exercise mats to do exercises. I am never without one – each morning I do my pilates. Say a big Thank You to John for serving his country and keeping us safe in our great country. Love you big girl. Stay comfy and cool (we in Texas are having such beautiful weather – in the 80’s), eat well for two and have loads of fun and girlie time with TT and your other paddock friends. Love you, Angel in Disguise.

Catching up on the posts. @Trina Nagele and Barbara Wood and Marshall–Thank you. @Vicki B-You caught my meaning perfectly. Great story about Kincsem and “her” cat. I more I learn about this horse, the more I feel that she was truly exceptional and does not get the credit she is due. @Brenda S-Here is a couple just for you. You might be a redneck if you’ve ever been in a custody fight over a huntin’ dog and you might be a redneck if your grandmother has ever been asked to leave a bingo game because of her language. @Barbara Grimaldi-Glad you enjoyed the joke. @Kim S-You got it right. It was a friendly debate. I respect signofthetime’s opinions. @Anne from Paramount-I asked for your opinion because if it differs from mine I will not dump on JS any more. There is nothing worse than seeing a friend trashed, if that is the case. @Susan in TN-Take care of Chester. I have a soft spot for toothless old guys who can’t defend themselves any more. @Kari Bussell and Susan in TN-You might be a redneck if your school fight song is Dueling Banjos. Will post a joke later.

Hi Z, I have an orange kitty too. Her name is Jelly. What is this kitty in the photos name? Did you know that 90% of all orange cats are male. So if you have a female orange cat that is special. Like you a very special find. love you and baby zybie
