Good Morning,
I was out walking and enjoying myself the other morning…just taking life nice and easy…when here comes KITTY. She is one of my new Lane’s End Farm friends.
I absolutely love other animals…and on this morning…I was able to spend time with KITTY. I hope she was not concerned that our sizes are so different. I really am very gentle!
I must say, I am quite used to being around cats. At BARN 55, we had 3 of them who were all really a part of our daily lives. They constantly relaxed around the barn and ‘hung out with us on the grass by the trees’ while we were grazing.
This particular cat reminds me so much of home. KITTY is the exact same color as one of MY BARN 55 cats. For 5 years, she was very much a part of my life. Each morning, when they’d wash the saddle pads and set them out in the sun to dry…she would go out to the grass and nap on them. No matter what happened, she’d just relax there, in the sun, and enjoy watching us graze each day! Often, we’d have to graze right around her. She wouldn’t even move…she was so used to us! I think deep down inside, our Barn 55 Kitty always knew we would watch out for her!
Such FUN!
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Cats are very wise, Zenny. I’m sure that she knows that you mean her no harm despite your large size. I love cats and glad that you like them too!

Zenny, This is a wonderful story and photo, and I’m glad to see that it has inspired many to post who don’t always. As for me, I’m still catching up, as usual.

What a cute picture of you with the kitty, Zenyatta! I’ll have to share that with my three kitties, George, Gracie and Molly. I’m sure they’ll think it is TOO CUTE!

@Terry Crow: Still laughing- I’ll do what I can to keep Chopper from goin’ all gangsta on your man Chester!
@Brenda S: perfect nursery rhyme!
@Judy B:Thanks- me, too!
Actually, I just got back from the rescue and they were hanging out together along with Sass and his mother. Chester was leery of him but this was definitely an improvement! Hooves crossed!
@Barbara Wood: You’re welcome!
@Sharon in Seattle: Thank you! As I said, today was better. Sass was the trouble-maker today! It is cool and windy here today (feels wonderful) and he was wound tighter than Dick’s hatband! He was running, leaping (sort of), bucking and then he would run up behind Chester and bite him on the behind, run away, come back and do it again. Of course, it’s not really a bite-he can’t close his little mouth on a relatively large area- but it couldn’t feel good! Chester was so tolerant, as all horses are of young foals, but I made Sass stop anyway!

@JSmith: That DOES sound like quite a party- fun! Thanks for the re-cap!

Zenyatta, what a lovely kind horse you are to be so kind to Kitty. I bet you miss your kitty back at barn 55. You are just TOO CUTE for works. Take care and kisses on the nose.

@ judy berube: The first horse that ever evoked tears was the Legendary JOHN HENRY. It’s been a while since I visited the link you shared ~ thank you!

@ Paul: You wrote: “In many ways, animals are better than people…” I echo that sentiment! Animals can be so loving and trusting ~ even in the wild! How many times have you read, or heard, a story about different species befriending each other… Incredible!

Having written the above ~ Zenny it was so damn easy to LOVE you!! Thanks for all of those beautiful memories. I wish I knew how to share the videos I took of YOU on here!! :-(

Another example of your gentle nature. What a wondeful mother you will make. We’re all dying to know when your John will start Emboussante. We know he’s conservative but we’rre dying to know as well as folks on Mike E’s website.

Zenny, I wonder what Kitty was saying to you, it must have been interesting, your ears, those beautiful ears, are so perky so it must have been quite interesting.
I have spent a quiet weekend, getting Vic ready for back to school and nursing a rather sore face. My friend’s champion golden retriever decided to give me a hug and kiss, and I think he wanted to sit on my lap. He somehow managed to wave his paw down the left side of my face and so I now look like a fugitive from a Freddy Kruger movie with two red lines from eye to chin. So far most people have been too polite to ask – domestic abuse or drunk and disorderly – so I’ll be staying close to home for the next little while.
@ Terry C – More redneck sayings please. I recommend a cookbook – White Trash Cooking by Ernest Matthew Mickler. Essential for all rednecks.
@ Susan from Tn – Please referee and protect Chester.

To Susan: Yes, we always shared the same ‘Zenyatta Laugh!’ !

I have my cat, some day, hopefully, I’ll get my horse. Love the pic and so happy that you are doing god!!

Susan in TN: how that horse suffered when his best friend Dolly was taken away…and mourned her loss, stayed in the same place where he had seen her last, and became surly and stayed alone…isn’t that exactly the way humans react to loss? They may have hooves, but their hearts are bigger than ours…
Terry–9 out of every 10 of your jokes are hysterical–the other 10 generate a few guffaws. THIS ONE, about the service, is beyond hysterical…i just sent it around to my close friends! Did you get the redneck video I sent to you about donut seeds? Thought you’d love it!
Where’s our Kari B?
Dearest Zenyatta, my four favorite animals on earth are cats, dogs, horses and cheetah!!!! Today’s photo is so sweet and means a lot to me. You are mighty, but you are so sweet and gentle. You are a gift, given to us all, and the love and respect and caring we feel for you just grows and grows. Love you, Zenyatta!

Dear Brenda S.
Funny post, but ouch! Hugs, J.B.

Aw Zenny, you are just the sweetest! It’s nice to have the kitties roaming around. You can tell them things and they can deliver messages to your other friends that you might not get to see every day :)
I’m really gonna try to work on retiring. After spending 3 days at the horse rescue this weekend, I know I have found my calling. Well, I really can’t retire–yet. I’ll just have to spend what free time I can there :)
@Quarterhossgal–Really good news about your mare, keeping prayers coming your way.
@Terry Crow–wonderful jokes and loved the friendly debate with signofthetimes about Queen Z.
@DJ–beautiful prayers
@Susan in TN–keep trying with Chopper and Chester, sounds like it could work. I’m paying more attention to William’s girl, Lacy. She’s not as skittish as she used to be. She even let me groom her yesterday, after my daughter groomed William to ride him. It was TOO CUTE, I was holding William after being saddled, so my daughter could go get someone to work with her in the round pen. That’s when Lacy got curious about the grooming. I started by brushing her and then she and William did the horse-grooming, at each others withers. Then the next thing I know, Lacy rested her head on my shoulder and I was between her and William. So I guess I’m part of their “herd” now–LOL. She was such a good girl that she even let me brush her tail. I didn’t do it too long, didn’t want her to get aggravated. My daughter did great with William, even though the wind was blowing quite a lot, she kept good control.
The day before she rode him as well and I was stanging outside the round pen watching. Every time William got to where I was he would stop and glance at me, like he was showing off. I told him was very handsome but to keep on moving. It was a good lesson for my daughter to keep him going and in figuring out when he would try to stop.
I need to thank you Zenny. You are the reason I got involved with these wonderful horses. If it hadn’t been for your diary and these wonderful posts with others doing volunteer work, I may not have found this haven for my daughter and I.
Have a great night and lotsa love to all.

Dear JAG:
You’re so welcome. Thank you for all the great links and videos you post for us. Hugs, J.B.

Dear Zenyatta. What a cute picture Sarah has taken of you and Kitty. You are so kind, I am sure you welcome everyone you meet with your sweetness. I have met many a barn kitty and they are so loving and ready to greet you with a big rub against the leg and hello meow. How is TT? Hope everything is well with her. There has been some discussion of your last race, Zenny, and I agree with those that feel it was truly the race of a lifetime. I believe it will be remembered in thoroughbred history as one of the most amazing races ever run. Your beauty never ceases to take my breath away. Love you more than the stars in the sky!! Sweet dreams. Hugs and kisses.
@Brooke – Hello, it is so wonderful to see your posts and hear about your beautiful Dusty. I hope you two are becoming the best of friends. I had a horse when I was your age and I loved her very, very much. Have fun together!
@Jane Wade – Loved the picture.
@Susan in TN – I am wishing the best for Chopper and Chester. It is just heart breaking when you describe how much Chopper missed his beloved friend. So glad they are doing better today. It will be so good for both of them if they bond. I still remember that sweet little welcoming whinnie from Chester when we arrived at the farm. Too Cute!
@JSmith – Sounds like the Trott Party was great and alot of fun!!
@”Charlie” from Delran NJ – I looked for the video I was thinking of on the Three Chimneys You Tube site and did not find it. Although there is a wonderful one where they talk about riding the stallions. I did go to You Tube under Seattle Slew and found a tiny piece of it on the video titled the Great Seattle Slew. It lasts about 10:30. I am glad some others shared with you. I will have to send a request to Trina for her lesson again.
@Evaline – Prayers for Jacky Martin.
@Ingrid in MA – Hope you continue to improve and feel better.
@Quarterhossgal – So glad that you are getting some good news! Hooves crossed for continued success in the battle.
@Trina Nagele – Yes, Duane was an amazing man!!

Zenny you are so gentle that Kitty doesn’t even realize that one snort from you could flip her right into the grass. You’re lookin’ good Z.
