Good Morning,
I was out walking and enjoying myself the other morning…just taking life nice and easy…when here comes KITTY. She is one of my new Lane’s End Farm friends.
I absolutely love other animals…and on this morning…I was able to spend time with KITTY. I hope she was not concerned that our sizes are so different. I really am very gentle!
I must say, I am quite used to being around cats. At BARN 55, we had 3 of them who were all really a part of our daily lives. They constantly relaxed around the barn and ‘hung out with us on the grass by the trees’ while we were grazing.
This particular cat reminds me so much of home. KITTY is the exact same color as one of MY BARN 55 cats. For 5 years, she was very much a part of my life. Each morning, when they’d wash the saddle pads and set them out in the sun to dry…she would go out to the grass and nap on them. No matter what happened, she’d just relax there, in the sun, and enjoy watching us graze each day! Often, we’d have to graze right around her. She wouldn’t even move…she was so used to us! I think deep down inside, our Barn 55 Kitty always knew we would watch out for her!
Such FUN!
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

I have pics of your Barn 55 kitties! They were docile and friendly ~ I guess you rubbed off on them :-)

Some very, very exciting racing this weekend! “Gracie” won the Woodward against the “boys” :-) On a sadder note, we lost several horses. At Del Mar we lost stakes winner, BURNS! :-( :-( I HATE this part of racing! :-(

For “Z” Friends who would like to share a Morning Prayer:
…………………………………..
Lord God, be present now,
And let your Spirit bow
All hearts in love and truth today
To hear your wisdom and keep your way.
Give us the grace to grasp your word,
That we may do what we have heard.
Instruct us thru your Creation, Lord,
As we draw near, O God adored.
May your glad tidings always bring
Good news to men, that they may sing
Of how you came to comfort men.
Instruct us now time and again.

Catching up on the posts. @Katie Clawson, future jockey-Always a pleasure to see a post from you. @”Charlie”-I’m sure that the Duke of Wellington conducted some strategic retreats in his time. Maybe that’s what the new “Duke” is doing. @Susan in TN-I am sure that Judy Berube can be counted on to provide you with that item. Enjoy! @signofthetimes-Enjoyed bantering with you about Zenyatta. Your opinions are valued here. @Gary Moulton-Glad Granny enjoyed the statue joke. @Anne from Paramount-It is difficult to discuss Jeanine Sahadi without being accused of libel. Sahadi had her share of top horses during the period in question when Baffert discussed the matter openly. I would be interested in your opinion. You are welcome to couch your reply in terms that would not get you in trouble. @Vicki B- Well said. Almost exactly mirrors my position of thew subject. IT is difficult for me to explain all of the nuances involve but you came the closest. @Trina Nagele-Thank you. @Patricia-Nice post. @Kate Wheeler-No argument, just a discussion about a topic all near and dear to our hearts, Zenyatta. You and signofthetimes expressed valid opinions which I respect. @Kari Bussell and Susan in TN-You might be a redneck if your mattress gets rejected by the Salvation Army. Also, you might be a redneck if you wonder how service stations keep their restrooms so clean. Today’s joke–On Sunday morning the pastor noticed a young man standing and staring at a large plaque hanging in the church foyer. The pastor walked over to the young man and bid him good morning. The young man replies “Good morning, pastor.” and not taking his eyes off the plaque, asked “Sir, What is this?” The pastor answered “These are all the people who have died in the service.” Soberly, the two stood there before the plaque and after a long silence the young man asked “Which service sir, the 8:30 or the 10:30?.

Great picture, Thank You Sarah and Dottie. Congrats to Havre de Grace on her big win. I have been reading some articles about her, and yes she is a good horse and getting better with age. In some of these articles they are trying to compare her to Queen Z. Yes she is getting better with age, but she isn’t in the league with you Zenyatta, YOU ARE NUMBER ONE. Have a great day Z.

@Terry Crow: You’re right- maybe that’s why I laughed!
@Sherry Drish: I never knew where that expression came from!

My horse Cassie loves kitty’s too. You are so sweet liking them too!!!

I’ve found that a lot of horses are facinated by cats. They love their fur. I’ve known some barn cats to sleep on the backs of horses at night.
Mary Margaret
Zenyatta you certainly look picture purrfect with your friend Kitty. Luv ya Zenyatta.

I love that picture!!! I have three cats and I volunteer for an organization that does theraputic horse back riding for children with disabilities. So even though I do not have a horse, I am around them once a week. I love your daily postings, you always make me smile and feel good inside.
Love you Zenyatta,

Rescue at River Edge: Chopper is the 28-year-old chestnut gelding who came to the rescue in June with his best friend and constant companion, Dolly. She was adopted and, you may remember, Chopper was devestated. he stood in the corner of the field where he had last seen her and called for her, for days. Over the summer, he stayed at the periphery of the herd but never actually bonded with any one. Some days he didn’t even come down with the herd to the “people” area. He lost weight over the summer. SO, I thought that he and Chester might become great buddies. Well, Chopper was brought out to live in the same area where Chester, Sass and his mother are and…Chester was terrified of him!! I couldn’t believe it. I fed them lunch and when they were through and Chester was leaving the round pen where he eats, Chopper did kick out at him, but not really in a serious attempt- more like a “warning shot.” I think that over the summer, Chopper had to fend for himself in the very “active” herd. The next day, better. Chester was not as alarmed and Chopper was calmer, too. I’m hopeful. Just goes to show, you can’t always pick friends for someone else! Chopper is very dignified and VERY sweet. I think they’ll get there.

I too have a photo of that very kitty you mention Z,relaxing by the drying saddle pads at barn 55. Too Cute, the kitty just lies there like queen of the lower air space, occasionally lifting her head to survey her empire, and letting her subjects (us) pet her. I am soooooo behind in horse world, to say nothing of real life. Was having a fight with AT&T and had no internet for a few days, hence no Trott party update until now. The party (on 28th) was so much fun. As usual, it drew a really nice crowd of people. Somebody said, going to a Trott party is like going to a really fun wedding reception. Golf cart polo was a hit, and those Argentinian polo players were a hit too! Good wine from Cougar Winery in Temecular, really good food by Chile Co. It was a buffet, but they served the food so stylishly, I was impressed. Liza G Fly’s beautiful voice filled the party tent at just the right volume, and who doesn’t love the Zenyatta song? Even the polo players cheered for that one. We had 3 artists displaying work, each had a completely different style, their work was amazing. I will put a link to their websites, Cherry Sweig whipped up an oil painting on the morning of the event. You won’t believe how gorgeous it is, what a talent, ‘oh, I think I’ll whip out a quick oil painting before noon’! It’s of Zenny & Mike and can be seen on her website. It is a one off and was raffled at the event with all proceeds going to Trott. http://www.cherrysweig.com Marcy Leonard was there with her whimsical drawings, many of you know her from facebook. I just love her drawings, Marcy was completely overwhelmed when Laffitt Pincay bid and won one of her framed prints in the auction. He really enjoyed her work and couldn’t stop chuckling every time he looked at it. Marcy is soooo cute, she was so honored that Mr. Pincay thought so highly of her work. Marcy’s website is cardsbymarcy.com. I will tell you about artist Samantha Wendell later, now I’m late for work! It was great to see Mike Smith & Jack Van Berg recieve Inspiration Awards for all their charity work. It really was a good party, next year it will be on the Saturday night before the Pacific Classic, same place, Polo Club, not even 2 miles from Del Mar track. Oh, the paparazzi from L.A. crashed our party! It was so funny, they commandeered a golf cart and were chasing up and down the polo field all hanging out of the cart snapping photo’s!
