Happy Friday!
As you can see, I’m getting my BEAUTY REST and making sure that I am taking great care of myself these days!
Additionally, I want to get plenty of rest so I can be energized and watch all of the terrific weekend of racing on both coasts. I’m going to be spending tons of time with my guys here at LANE’S END handicapping and watching the races. The conversation around the barn is already heating up now on who likes who in which race…and why! It is great FUN!
From Saratoga, running the Travers and the King’s Bishop… to Del Mar carding the Pat O’Brien and the Pacific Classic to name a few of the quality stakes running the next few days, it will be one very sporting weekend.
Uncle Mo…is making his first start back in the King’s Bishop since ‘feeling under the weather’ around Kentucky Derby time. There are so many contentious 3 year old colts running in the Travers….that I will really have to study the FORM here.
Then in Del Mar, they are running The Pacific Classic which is their premiere race of the entire meet. My farm, Lane’s End, has a horse competing in the field…TWIRLING CANDY. So this is very, very exciting!
My friend, BLIND LUCK, and her connections decided to ‘skip’ the Pacific Classic for this year and have her compete on another path: The Lady’s Secret and if all goes well The Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic. These are both very distinguished and prestigious races….I know them quite well. All the best to her and her future plans.
Enjoy your weekend! Have a terrific time watching all of these high quality races! It is SO MUCH FUN! I can’t wait!
Hey, Matt, Charles, Mike, David and Sarah…who do you like???
With Love,
Hugs to All~

I know I said I was leaving for the night, but I’m back. Just have to respond
@Sunny Boyd–love the Seinfeld quote. I think that’s so funny because giving a speech in public wouldn’t bother me in the least, but some of the simplest things in life leave me terrified (anything to do with computers, for examle, or anything involving ANY kind of technology). Good night, Dumplings.

I was a big fan of his show, too. ‘Seinfeld’ :)

Does anyone know if “The Factor” raced at the Del Mar today?
Vicki B.
@Linda in NJ, signofthetimes posted the link for “The Factor” in the O’Brien Stakes at Del Mar today: http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/64755/the-factor-makes-huge-impact-in-pat-obrien

@Terry Crow: You’re in!!

Zenny….what a great week end of racing. Congrats to all the winners and the horses that were second by a nose!
Eveline: Thank you for the link about stem cell use for equines. My mare is fighting a battle with laminitis and I am open to any and all possible treatments to help her. Dr. Doug Herthel sounds like a pioneer for horses.
Susan in TN
@Karen Gogue: I really liked what you wrote above re: Noor and Charlotte!
Great racing this weekend, wasn’t it?
Thanks to all for links, comments, jokes, etc.
Will be glad when all of us are accounted for!

@Kate Wheeler -Thank you. Yes, all the footage and photos in that one were taken by either me or my husband except for the beautiful ‘Z in the Sky”
It was featured in Z’s Diary as you may recall. Also the bunny sculpture near Z’s paddock. It was also featured in Z’s Diary.-
For the record anyone is more than welcome to use anything my husband & I managed to capture. I still cry for Ruffian.
@Debbie G- thank you for sharing about your Mom…and all your kind words.
@Barbaro Wood- I love forward to it.
@Lil from KY- thank you for all your kindness. Your caring words mean very much to me. Never worry I am good.
Judy B- hope to hear from you soon.
@Sunny Boyd- Hilarious!..and so true of me. :)
@Trina Nagele- My husband was off work this evening (rare) and we have been clowning around all night. So I am in a silly mood..I must confess that being referred to as ‘Our Dear Kari’ caused the scene from ‘Gone With the With the Wind’ to come to my mind….where Rhet forces Scarlett to attend Ashley’s ‘surprise’ b-day party after the busy bodies caught her and Ashley in a embrace. Rhet pushes her through the door and leaves her ….Melony stands by her and calls her ‘our Dear Scarlett’….I laughed until I cried. That scene is the source of a huge longtime joke with my family & friends….thank you ….and you words have always touched me deep in my heart and they always will-friend-
@Eveline- love the link on stems cells. I think we are so close to cures for so many things.
@East Coast Dumplinz- Still praying.
Susan in TN
@Trina N: Well said!
@Lil in Kentucky: Hope you have heard from your granddaughter by now- let us know <3
Hope DJ is okay! Also haven't heard from Diana S- hope all is well.
Goodnight, friends!
Peggy (N)
@Judy B and Russ, hope you are all O.K. let us hear from you as soon as possible. Blessings Peggy

Wonderful time – at the Pacific Classic today in Del Mar. Wore my Z-dumpling tag, got some inquiries as to “is that a dumpling really?” Too cute. Anyway, sad to say, Setsuko didn’t really fire. I hope he is ok – when I saw him in the paddock, something about him just felt off, but I put my money on him anyway. And on Stately Victor because of Mike.
Terrific day, good thing I’m a small better and enjoy just admiring the beautiful horses and the skill of the riders. It still feels so strange to see Mike in different colored silks!
Hope things are settling on the East coast and everyone stayed safe.
Denise
I am happy to see that you & baby Z are getting plenty of rest. Too cute !!

@Karen Gogue- I love you too!

Awful that Repole and Pletcher would be disappointed in Uncle Mo’s performance…just awful. He was so sick. He was rushed to wellness and he ran great yesterday–and were it not for his lost shoe, he darn well would have won. Were he my horse, I’d be thrilled with his performance and happy to see how much the fans adore him. As a person who doesn’t know horses, would a beautiful young stallion with a history of an almost deadly disease bring Repole the money he envisions? Is he talking about putting him out to stud–or are he and Pletcher coldly thinking of other things for him. This good boy needs to be in another stable, like with the Mosses or John and Dottie or Winstar…someplace where he will be cared for and appreciated.

@All- I am the Space Queen- I left out- the picture at the end of the video of Zenny at Lane’s End…that is not my picture. It is 2 BH photos super-imposed. I would have done at lesst 30 videos of her from L.E. if I had been there.

You gorgeous creature!

@Cynthia…Setsuko is adorable. I took several pictures of him in the paddock. He has the face of an angel. My other long time fav, who I think has a beautiful expression is Jeranimo. I think the people I was standing between thought I was an obsessed fan. While I got pic of everyone…I think I can now complete a photo album of these two boys.
Acclation was awesome, he really loves this track. 2 graded stakes in a little over a month here.
The Factor looked great today..was so happy to see him win. And..Camp Victory is one flashy dude.
Beautiful day today……sorry I didn ‘t run into any dumplings.
Hope we hear from everyone soon…DJ, Judy and other east coasters. Finally heard from my brother in Westport CT. Few trees down, but they missed the house. No power expected for a few days..so they are in a hotel 45 minutes away. Safe. Thank You Lord. Praying for all of you…Kari and Sharon in Seattle..daily. xoxo
Peaceful Sleep w/ Sweetdreams to all. God Bless.

OOPS again.. Acclamation. Wish we had spell check on here, that included TB names…LOL

Goodnight and sweet dreams, Zenny! Hugs!
@Judy Berube: Hope you and Russ are okay in Rhode Island. Thoughts and prayers are with you. Check in as soon as you are able. All the best!
@Kari Bussell and Susan in TN: Thanks for your prayers and good wishes! Your beautiful state of Tennessee is one of my favorite states! TN and VA come in right after NC!
@Kathy Kimber: Thanks so much for the Noor updates. Safe trip to you and all involved.
Lil from KY: Thank you for your concern! I do hope things in Norfolk are improving quickly. Norfolk is about 3+ hours (I think) northeast of where I am. I think the northeast coast of NC and the southeast coast of VA had quite alot of rain, flooding and power outages. The lack of power and crippled cell-phone transmission is most likely why you haven’t been able to reach your granddaughter. Hope you hear from her soon and that things get back to normal quickly. All the Best, always!
@Z’sters in the Northeast: Take care and stay safe! Thoughts and prayers to all from NC.
Trina Nagele
@Robin S—What a beautiful dream.
@Our dear Kari—I’m glad if my phrasing gave you a chuckle.
@Quarterhossgal—Dr. Herthel’s Alamo Pintado Clinic is in Los Olivos, Santa Barbara county, CA. It would be great if he could help your mare with her laminitis. Here is a link I had posted earlier about Dr, Herthel successful treatment of Thorn Song for laminitis from the Thoroughbred Times webpage of June 17, 2011: http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/horse-health/2011/06/17/stem-cell-treatment-for-laminitis.aspx
Trina Nagele
@Signofthetimes–Thanks for the kind comments on the two poems, but I have never made a video–that beautiful Ruffian video was made by “our dear Kari,” or as I also like to call her, Kari the Queen of Videography! Thanks for all you do, Kari!
Trina Nagele
@Terry Crow—Love those pre-declined credit cards!
@Signofthetimes—Excuse me, but I’m perplexed. Did you truly mean to say in your post “Some horses respond better to women than to me”? Or did you perhaps intend to say “Some horses respond better to women than to men”? Just curious…
Marshall (girl's name)
Hi, again! I realized that I left a couple of things off my previous posting.
@DJ: Hope you are okay! We miss you. Hugs!
@Diana S.: We haven’t heard from you in several days. Are you okay? Please check in if possible. Thoughts go out to you!
@Christine in VA: How are things in your part of Virginia? Hope Irene did not treat you too badly. Let us hear from you when you can. Take care!
Trina Nagele
@Sunny Boyd—Good one!
@Barbara Grimaldi—You are really, truly TOO kind to mention my name with those true poets! I am very happy if my efforts brighten your day, but I don’t think I really qualify to be called more than “a rhymester.” Of course, please don’t tell them that at DEE (Dumpling Equine Enterprises)—I am applying for that position of poet laureate, you know.
Trina Nagele
Funny to say, but it was Mike Smith who got that “show” in the Classic, beating out Chantal (who I thought had got it) by a nose.
Snoprinz
You’re so beautiful Zenyatta. Have a good nap and take care.
Trina Nagele
@Our dear Kari—I was so sad to see you use the past tense, that you “wanted” your health to allow you to see Noor’a arrival and his ceremony. Is it for sure that you can’t make it? Can we do something to make the trip easier for you, like overnight accommodations? We are here for you.
Kari Bussell
@ALL- especially California Dumpling Delagation-This will make you smile. Zenyatta’s 2010 Lady’s Secret-19th race- to The Beach Boys-“Califronia Girls”
It was done by our fellow Dumpling & my dear friend Anita in Ca. It is her footage. We meet on youtube a long time ago. Her friendship is a true blessing. She has blessed us all in doing this video. MY Queen your Kingdom spans far and wide You have caused nothing but JOY to shine upon us all.

2Trina Nagele- My Mother(72) gets on to me about using the wrong tense all the time(49)_LOLoL as if I 12…I have a friend that by her own admission destroys the English language. When we first became friends I would notice. Throughout the years I fear I am forgetting many correct terms. You hear something said the wrong way long enough it starts to sound correct. My Mother could hold her own even with you, CH, DC and GM- ……and No dear friend. I greatly appreciate your very kind offer and everything else you do. Thank you.
@ Judy & Russ- DJ- Diane S-LIl-Ky (g-child)- Christine In Va. and all impacted by Irene – You are in my thoughts & prayers.
