Good Morning, dear friends!
It is such a glorious day outside. As a result, I am able to just stand under the trees and graze for a bit. This is just like I would do at Barn 55! It reminds me so much of those moments in my California Home!
The weather has been rather lovely…and I am enjoying every single moment of my time outdoors. I must say, I have adjusted beautifully to my new life and my ‘new career’ as a MOM-TO-BE!
I am wearing my ‘sunglasses’ often these days…not just for the sun but to keep those ‘adorable…yet pesty flies’ off my face. These masks really work.
As you can see, I am ‘growing’ a bit…but in all of the right ways. While relaxing and grazing, I do use the time to think about so many things!
It is always interesting to reflect upon what one has achieved and the different paths one may experience in life. Last year at this time, I had just won #18 in a row and my 3rd Clement Hirsch-G1 stakes. I was enjoying a few weeks of RNR after the race with MY JOHN, Mario, and Steve at Del Mar. The cool ocean breezes were making it such a comfortable environment. I was also grazing on the grass and standing by trees…just like I am now.
Some things in life change and one’s life goes through various stages. Other things remain very much the same…and constant! I am such a BLESSED HORSE. I have been so fortunate to experience all of the different stages of being a very successful and world-class athlete in my sport…and yet have so many special and sweet things in my life stay happily the same.
Lucky ME!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Zenny, you look so peaceful enjoying your munchies in the shade of the tree and your bump looks very regal. Sarah’s picture has reassured us all that you are growing gracefully, as all good Moms to be should. Is Tasty T growing as nicely as you? Now that Sarah is back we can look forward to lots of pictures of you both.
@ Abigail – Today is a red letter day in this house thanks to you so I suspect I’ll be spending a lot of time reading and salivating. The photo of Zenny is so beautiful, I can hardly believe that you could part with it, your generosity completely overwhelms me. You have sent me more than a keepsake, you have given me treasures. Thank you dear, dear Abigail.

@judy berube – Thank you so much for posting “Tale of the Green Saddle Cloths.” So moving and we do not recall reading it previously. It reflects our feelings as we stood under that ominous purple sky at Churchill Downs and how she has affected our lives.

I remember that race-and all 15 others I was privileged to see in person. Try as I have I just cannot fill the Zenyatta racing hole. Don’t get me wrong, I love horses like Zazu, Blind Luck, Uncle Mo, Gio Ponte and others but its just NOT the same.
Love you Z

@JB (326), Their legs, I know. When I look at them I wonder how they carry 1000# plus. When I speak of their legs, I speak from the hip to their ‘toes’, and I so wonder why their feet (hooves) are made that way, and their legs so slender..so delicate, yet they love to run and kick. I love horses, and when I am near one, I clearly check the Hip down in wonder..RIP Kensei…Thank you for the comfort..Lisa g

@Abigail from Montreal–thank you for the interesting info. on Over the Top.
Does anyone know when Z.’s next dr. visit will be?

Ms Zenyatta, you look absolutely gorgious in your shades. As I said before, you carry pregnancy very well, you are ‘weight appropriate’. That Baby Bump, what a special baby to have you as his/her MOM…Cannot wait until March 17…I love you…Lisa g.

@Barbara Wood-Eli Manning showed a lot of class in that incident. More importantly, a lot of kids were treated to the time of their lives. Life At Ten? I’m sorry to say, in my opinion, she should not race again. @Eveline-Thank you for your comments. Here is another joke for today–A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minister, if they could discuss the use of the car. His father took him to his study and said to him “I’ll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your Bible a little and get your hair cut and we’ll talk about it.” After about a month the boy came back and again asked his father if they could discuss use of the car. They again went into the father’s study where his father said “Son, I’ve been real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you’ve studied your Bible diligently, but you didn’t get your hair cut!” The young man waited a moment and replied “You know Dad, I’ve been thinking about that. YOu know, Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had ,long hair.” His father then said “Yes, and they walked every where they went!”

@All: At UncleMo.com, Uncle Mo discusses the race this Saturday, and has the cutest picture. He has that ‘surprised’ look in his eye. I think he was trying to eat his num num and the camera surprised him…You gotta go check this cutie out…Lisa g.

Love that tribute to AWAD; when riding a true champion, a person will feel one with the horse and SOAR; so very very very true.

To all of you who have lost horses
and in remembrance to Kensei:
MY GRANDEST FOAL
(author unknown)
I’ll lend you for a little while
My grandest foal, He said.
For you to love while he’s alive
And mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be one or twenty years,
Or days or months, you see.
But, will you, till I take him back,
Take care of him for me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you,
And should his stay be brief,
You’ll have treasured memories
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return.
But, there are lessons taught on earth
I want this foal to learn.
I’ve looked the wide world over
In my search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes,
With trust, I have selected you.
Now will you give him your total love?
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come
To take him back again?
I know you’ll give him tenderness
And love will bloom each day.
And for the happiness you’ve known!
Forever grateful stay.
But should I come and call for him
Much sooner than you’d planned
You’ll brave the bitter grief that comes
And someday you’ll understand
For though I’ll call him home to Me
This promise to you I do make,
For all the love and care you gave
He’ll wait for you, inside Heaven’s Gate.

Hello Beautiful Mommy to Be…I’m heartbroken because we lost the beautiful and talented Kensei this week. At times like these, I’m just so grateful that you were able to retire sound and healthy and that you’re enjoying a wonderful retirement. I remember saying a prayer every time you raced asking the Lord to keep you safe. He answered my prayers and I’m incredibly grateful.
