Good Morning, dear friends!
It is such a glorious day outside. As a result, I am able to just stand under the trees and graze for a bit. This is just like I would do at Barn 55! It reminds me so much of those moments in my California Home!
The weather has been rather lovely…and I am enjoying every single moment of my time outdoors. I must say, I have adjusted beautifully to my new life and my ‘new career’ as a MOM-TO-BE!
I am wearing my ‘sunglasses’ often these days…not just for the sun but to keep those ‘adorable…yet pesty flies’ off my face. These masks really work.
As you can see, I am ‘growing’ a bit…but in all of the right ways. While relaxing and grazing, I do use the time to think about so many things!
It is always interesting to reflect upon what one has achieved and the different paths one may experience in life. Last year at this time, I had just won #18 in a row and my 3rd Clement Hirsch-G1 stakes. I was enjoying a few weeks of RNR after the race with MY JOHN, Mario, and Steve at Del Mar. The cool ocean breezes were making it such a comfortable environment. I was also grazing on the grass and standing by trees…just like I am now.
Some things in life change and one’s life goes through various stages. Other things remain very much the same…and constant! I am such a BLESSED HORSE. I have been so fortunate to experience all of the different stages of being a very successful and world-class athlete in my sport…and yet have so many special and sweet things in my life stay happily the same.
Lucky ME!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

i agree with AudreyC, Zenny, you are CERTAINLY starting to show and you do look absolutely ADORABLE in your fly mask. Only you could given a common piece of horse gear such a chic look!!! And it always does my heart good to see you being hand-grazed at LE just the way your Mario, John and Frank used to do.
Some random responses to previous messages:
–ANGIE DICKENSON!!! WOW! I was such a HUGE fan during days of old. She was one gorgeous lady and how SPECIAL that she got to meet you.
— Happy, too, that Michael Blowen got invited to visit. Like so many people out there, he is doing GREAT work for our retired thoroughbreds and I knew that the Mosses RUHLMAN was one of his earliest retirees, although there are other Moss horses retired there too, I believe.
— KENSEI ….. I saw the news of his death late last night on The Blood-Horse site. This sort of thing always saddens me so deeply that I hardly know what to write. R.I.P. sweet Kensei.
— I was so thrilled to see Dahlia’s name in previous post. WHAT A GREAT GREAT FILLY she was! Dahlia is one of the “girls” that I still want to write about on THE VAULT in the “Euro” series. I think she still has many, many fans out there.
— Other than the connexion to Will Harbut that came up in a previous post, some of you might remember an earlier article I wrote for THE VAULT called “Off The Radar” about horses who get lost over time or even in the present. One of the horses I wrote about was a very handsome son of Man O’ War, who was a contemporary of War Admiral’s called Over The Top. He died young, of unknown causes and seemed to never reach his potential. Well, I heard from a descendant of his owner who informs me that his poor race record was due to the fact that the horse had growths in his throat that interfered with his breathing. He was so CHARGED to read about his grandfather’s horse on THE VAULT and is trying to find out how he died for me. Isn’t that REALLY NEAT?
— The latest article on THE VAULT about Will Harbut & Man O’ War got over 200 reads its first day up!!! Thank you to everyone of you who are part of those numbers. I’m so glad that people are enjoying it!!!!
— I’m thinking of Charlotte Farmer & Kathy Kimber lots these days. They will leave soon now on their HISTORIC JOURNEY!
Love & hugs to all

I just read about Kensei, breaking down on Tuesday…..at Belmont Park. Rest in Peace, Kensei. I’m sure, Jess Jackson is waiting for you at The Rainbow Bridge.

Good Morning Zeny. So happy to see you and baby are doing well.
It was sad to read about Kensei and 5 more in Del Mar that had to be euthanized this season. Thank God you and so many others have been blessed with so much. For those of us who are blessed much is expected. Continue to be a good example in what you do for others. We can all make a difference. Hugs and prayers, Marilu

Hi Zenyatta. I am crying. What a beautiful diary. All I can say is that we are the blessed ones to have watched you over these short years, watched you race (always with our hearts in our throats) and have been able to share your thoughts through Dottie – you are definitely an Angel in Disguise. Love you so. Stay comfy, stay as beautiful as you are in life and spirit and heart and have fun with your friends.

@Shari – Hope everything all of your classes are going great!! How amazing to be introducing our wonderful Zenyatta to so many for the first time. Love you!
@Michelle – The quote was beautiful and so fitting for Zenyatta. How often have we seen her standing and gazing out at the horizon, the breeze catching her mane, it is truly the look of eagles.
@Kari – You are amazing. Your words were overwhelming and touched my heart and soul deeply! I loved the video of Tempo!
@Sharon in Seattle – Thank you for your kind response. I am blessed if my words bring any amount of comfort to you.
@S in San Diego – Hope you are enjoying a fun vacation, sorry for the tears.
@Kathy Kimber – Hi, Kathy. Trina sent me an e-mail to let me know that it was you that had wanted to get together in KC. Sorry I was mixed up there for awile. I did not realize you were using Charlotte’s computer. Hope we can get together sometime! Have you heard anything on how Noor’s journey is going? Trina has said you had plans to go, but I thought I read that you had to change them.
@The Kennedys – How wonderful that your photo is being shown on E’s Facebook!
@RIP Kensei. My regrets to all of his connections.
@JSmith – Thank you for the Trott info, I will be sure to check it out.

Dear Zenny
Motherhood is definately agreeing with you and
living at LE is definately a wonderful experience.
Free to run in your paddock and not cooped up
In a small stall on the track. Relationships with horses
Who are your like kind and of course the wonderful
Humans at LE especially David, who keeps a close eye
On you everyday. Hope your day was great!!!

What a great Vault on Man O War and his groom.
So wonderfully written and researched. It is so
Interesting to look at the older TB, very sturdy
Looking was Man O War. What happened to the
TB male lineage to make them more delicate
And refined?

Hi Zenny, you sure are starting to show. Looking fantastic as usual. Here is the nice tribute that Awad’s exercise-rider wrote for him. It has been posted before. http://cs.bloodhorse.com/blogs/beyond-the-blinkers/archive/2011/08/24/update-on-noor-and-tribute-to-awad.aspx

We miss you here in California and wish you were here. During an interview on 60 Minutes with Mr. and Mrs. Moss, Mr. Moss told the host that you always had someone with you 24 hours a day and that you spent hours out grazing and basking in the sun at Barn 55. It looks like you are doing the same things at Lanes End that you did at Barn 55. You have so much intelligence and so much people awareness about you that you most likely need that interaction with people to remain healthy and happy, as opposed to simply being “turned out” as a broodmare. No surprise that your owners and your John and Dottie have made it possible for you to continue that interaction. Very impressed to hear that you had Angie Dickinson visit you. She will remember it forever, as I will remember the visit I had with you last year. There was an airplane flying overhead during our visit and you could not take your eyes off it. Got some lovely photos that day, which I have framed and hanging on the wall.

Glad you are loving the time outdoors, Z! It will be beautiful there in the early fall, too. Only you can look so fabulously great in a fly mask! Thrilled that every day is a blessing for you – and you are a blessing to us!
Robin

Beautiful photo and super nice post. So what will be happening in your life a year from NOW? At what age does Lane’s End wean the babies? Normally it’s 4 to 6 months of age, but don’t know what the big barns have for their policy on this.

To Dawn C: You are welcome! So nice to have you back with us!

I thought this was a really neat story and thought I would share it. I love the fact they use “rescued” horses as well.
