Good Morning,
It is another lovely day here in Lexington. I know it is pretty in Del Mar with very comfortable weather in the low 70’s. MY JOHN and Dottie went to Arcadia on Monday to spend time with the horses John currently has stabled at Santa Anita. They commented it was really very pleasant for this time of the year…in the low to mid 80’s.
I’ve heard the East Coast has been much more ‘comfortable’ the last few days and they’ve had a bit of rain. Several of the turf races at Saratoga yesterday were taken ‘off the turf’ as the course was listed as ‘soft’ from the earlier rains.
Weather is such an interesting thing to contemplate. I must say that I do like it a bit on the ‘cool’ side. I know MY JOHN always commented that is one thing we horses enjoyed so much when going to Del Mar. You can actually ‘feel the ocean breezes in the air’. This type of environment really ‘perks you up’.
A resulting part of weather that is truly so fascinating to me is a RAINBOW!
“A rainbow is technically an optical and meteorological phenomenon that causes a spectrum of light to appear in the sky when the SUN shines on to droplets of moisture in the Earth’s atmosphere. It takes on a multicolored arc. Rainbows caused by sunlight always appear in the section of the sky directly opposite the sun.” **
On this morning, I think I saw MY OWN RAINBOW in the water that was dancing around my hooves. I found it rather interesting to observe. As you may know, I am a very inquisitive horse so I kept studying the different swirls and paths of the water as they circled around my hooves.
The cool water felt terrific…and the RAINBOW image that appeared was fun and curious to observe. Dottie was commenting to ME that to many people seeing a rainbow image means so many different things. She happens to believe they are LUCKY. Throughout the ages, rainbows and various references to them have been a part of art, literature, music and film. To so many people, RAINBOWS have been defined in various ways.
On this morning, it was a joy to observe and examine my own ‘little rainbow’ prancing around in the water by my hooves. To ME, it is just another illustration of how much joy one can have when taking a moment to truly appreciate the simple…yet oh so beautiful…things in life!
With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z

@Dawn Conrad– I want you to know we all look so forward to your posts. Thank you for taking the time to individually thank us. We are all enriched by knowing you. This site is such a blessing to my life? What did I ever do without it? Answer–lol–had more time!
@Kari Bussell– just heard the word about Pat Summitt having dementia. I am SO sorry. Please accept my deepest concerns for her. Will add her to the prayer list.
s (in San Diego)
@Dear Kari, I believe that there are alot of prayer warriors here and know that many of us will be lifting you up daily. We will all celebrate the birth of baby Z with you!! God Bless You.
@Beautiful Z..love the rainbow and you look fantastic. I believe the Rainbow is a reminder of God’s promise and His Blessings and you have certainly been a blessing to us all. (Dottie..that most certainly includes you)
@Judy Sims..Thank you for the story on Reckless. I was in tears and will share her story with many.
@DJ, Thank you for another beautiful prayer. One that is perfect to start the day and to remember at noon and through out the day.
@DMCQ, Love the Irish Blessing. Like others here, my grandparents came from Ireland as very young children and settled in Kentucky and Tenn. Perhaps that is why I dream or retiring back there and having my small rescue farm.
@Yvonne and Maurice….Will also be back at Del Mar on Saturday, Good chance the other big races will be played between races. So may get to see Uncle Mo, Stay Thirsty, Shack, Coil and all on the big screen. (sure hope so).
Thank You Lord…No reports of injury from the earthquake on the East Coast.
Steph
At the end of each rainbow there is a pot of gold, and that is you Zenny!!! Hope everything is going well girl.

Zenny, After seeing Sarah’s photo of you and your rainbow it just confirms how very special you are. I don’t believe that rainbows circle mere mortals and the little one is being touched as well. Your changing figure is quite noticeable now and I would love to know if you’re feeling little tickles in your tummy. You look fabulous, the cooler weather is agreeing with you.
@ Terry C – The funniest part of my Betty White story is that the friend who promises to take me out, as per the video, is a teacher and was running the clip in the school’s breakfast room when I showed up to do my volunteer stint. He now calls me Betty so I hope I’m in such good shape when I get to her age altho’ I’m definitely no spring chicken now. We will resume our friendly feuding over the Pats and the Bills when school resumes.

Rainbows are indeed to be appreciated. LOVED the post, thank you Z

Did you feel the earthquake that was centered in Virginia, Zenyatta? It seems to have been felt in a pretty wide area – all the way up to New York City. If you did, you probably thought you were back home here in California for a minute… Enjoy your rainbows, pretty girl.

Hi, Beautiful!
I’m the one who didn’t want you to have anything to do with men. Remember? — Well since it’s over, I’m pretty proud of you and can’t wait for our baby to arrive. For sure I want you have it over with so you’ll be back to your normal self and be able to play with the baby for a while. Run and play and who knows, maybe a little dancing along the way.
I adore you, sweet girl!
Hugs and much love, always.

Dear Susan in Tn.:
Actually, I think I would have to sign up for a Facebook account and I’m not to keen on doing that. I did try what Sharon Call suggested, but the sign up box came up. I have been able to find other sites with photos of the Sweeties, though. It’s wonderful, the work you do and love you give them. How are Beth and Lou doing? Hugs, J.B.

Finally got to Del Mar this past week-end. Sorry it wasn’t when you were there, Great Lady.
On another note, I heard Michelle Yu say she doesn’t believe women should be jockeys and some trainers back east won’t let women work their horses. I can’t believe Tvg allows such gender bias. At most she should be fired. I believe the analysts have a right to their opinions but not on the air. Just think, Donna Barton Brothers was a guest commentator this past week-end at Del Mar. What an insult to her. For those that think that this is not something we fans should be concerned with, in 1969 Kathy Kusner had to go to court on this issue and Barbara Rubin had her trailer stoned by women haters. Julie Krone was as good as anyone on back of a horse and she’s tiny! It’s just stupid to think that a jockey has to beat a horse to death to get the most out of them but, sadly some jockeys ride that way today. Women can communicate with horses just as well as men. Nobody ever said William Shoemaker brutally beat a horse to win, everybody talks about his soft hands and ability to communicate with his rides. To me he was the greatest and a role model for everyone, male or female. I have emailed Tvg with my disgust with Michelle’s comments and I hope you do the same. Their email address is mail@tvg. STAMP OUT GENDER BIAS IN RACING, TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kari, my precious friend, smell that ‘dirt’ and feel that ‘dirt’ and KNOW there is life in it still…remember that, and fight, take whatever course the feel and smell tells you to…I believe it will say to you ‘don’t ever give up!’…do it and still have life….Love you Kari and so does Zenny…don’t give in, don’t give up! – she never did!
Kari Bussell
@Barbara Wood- I was literally typing a very different reply to you when our local news broke in to show Pat Summitt- age 59 ..diagnosed with early on-set …Alzheimer’s type dementia…cried for 30 minutes …heaving sobs…she is one of very few human beings I have the same respect, admiration & love I have for my beloved hero Mr. John Shirreffs…and all of Team-Z!..How ironic ..we were just talking about Lady Vol Basketball…thank you for thinking of me when you heard the news and thank you very much for all you beautiful words and support…love always..–Kari
I must add that here in Tennessee were are as proud of her 99% graduation rate as we are record wins and numerous Championship memories she has blessed us and each and every girl she ever coached…May they find a cure for this dreadful disease….what a courageous Lady …..Vol!
Sherry
I didn’t mean to imply Michelle made that comment today. She was on the air with Dave Weaver saturday night. To his credit, Dave never said what how he felt, one way or another. However, had he been morally correct, he might have politely disagreed. By the way, she made that comment while describing the first race and Cheryl (forgive me, forget her last name) was a jockey in that race. Cheryl usually rides when they have thoroughbreds at Los Alamitos.

In friendship’s garden there is a place for thoughts and dreams. The thoughts grow as freely as the flowers, and dreams are as beautiful…dream…dream…Flowing through the field of dreams is a vision of you – happy, healthy and running through….In friendship’s garden, there are flowers of every hue, each with its own fair beauty too…and it’s gift is YOU….dream…May God smile down upon you, his special Angel, and upon those dreams you hold dear…His love to you and your loved ones, my friend of the friendship’s garden…dream…dream of Zennyland in all your dreams of the friendship’s garden….

Z, seeing you contemplating your own rainbow as it rises up over your belly is just TOO CUTE for words!
I have been busy for a few days with my daughter’s “baby fiesta”, and am now trying to catch up with everything.
Kari B… You have become so dear to all of us, I hope you just KNOW how loved you are by so many. We are climbing the mountain with you in spirit. I will keep you in my prayers and send thoughts of love, peace, and strength to you.
DMCQ…that Irish blessing was truly a blessing to watch…tissues necessary…thanks for sharing!

Zenny, the earth shook beneath our feet today and no, it wasn’t you racing. We felt the tremors from an earthquake at our VA home. It sure was stange and a bit scary. All is OK, though. That’s the important thing.
Sue Fredrick
Beautiful Mama Z, Oh how stunning you look in that picture being part of your very own rainbow!!! Thank you Sarah for the fabulous pictures you take of our girl it just must be so much fun to walk around with a camera at Lanes End.
@Dawn C, always love to read your posts they are so descriptive you should have been a professional writer, I can actually picture everything you describe. Thank you for the note on AP Indy, I know what you mean about touching him I actually planted a kiss on that sweet nose. He is my favorite stallion (as you might know) and he has his own facebook page (just started) with beautiful pics of his kids and grandkids. Be sure and check it out.
@Kari Bussell, I am saddened by your news but I know thru experience attitude and sheer will can work miracles I saw it with my mom. If anyone has a beautiful, kind attitude and sheer will it is you….and with the strength of the Z fans behind you anything can happen! Hugs
@Judy Sims &
@Kathy Baldwin just wanted you to know if you go into Sgt Reckless’s website you can join her fan club and get updates. She was quite a special mare.
@DMCQ I loved the Irish blessing I have some of that blood “meself”. They sure have a lyrical way of saying things don’t they?
Luv you Z and kisses on your nose

@Kerri Bussell: Every single person on this site owes you so much. Any one who has ever watched one of your beautiful videos honoring Zenyatta has run a gauntlet of emotion. You have shown us great beauty, courage, determination. You have brought us such happiness words cannot express the magnitude of joy we feel. You inspire us each and every day. Thank you is simply not a large enough word for all you have brought to this site. We all pray for you for what ever your needs may be. Thank you so much
