Happy Friday!
I hope all of you are making some fun plans for the weekend. I am! This morning I had the most relaxing time. Not only did I have a very cool and refreshing BATH, but I also got to play in the water with my guys! It felt terrific!
As you can see, it is a very pretty morning in Lexington. Lane’s End is such a beautiful place to live. I am really enjoying myself.
Sarah took these photos this morning so you could get a chance to see ME as I am at this very moment. I’m doing everything just as a should….as an expectant MOM…. and I am really starting to have that ‘IN FOAL’ look.
Baby-to-be and I are doing GREAT! Everyone is so gracious to ME! My dear paddock pal, Tasty Temptation, and I are enjoying every single moment of this attention. I must say…I really feel SO PAMPERED and LOVED. LUCKY ME!
This weekend, as has been the case often this summer, both Del Mar and Saratoga are featuring some very competitive Grade 1 races. This time for 3 year old fillies….one on the main track and one on the dirt. Other race tracks are also offering some terrific races. I hope you have a great time handicapping and enjoying our SPORT!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

You are adorable getting your bath. You will be such a great mom. I wish that you were still in CA. We all miss you. It would be so fun to watch you and “your little one to be” through these months. Take care of yourself Mama.

@signofthetimes–thanks for the info. on Overdriven’s injury.
Zenny–you are so beautiful that I bet even I (bumbler though I am) could take a great picture of you! It is great to see you enjoying your bath, and I LOVE the fact that you’ve never met a camera that you don’t like. Sweet relaxing dreams to you, sweetie. Love you always.

.
SARATOGA –
Race 1 – I passed this race because the odds slipped below 2-1 right before post time and “Beautiful Affair” was a big underlay. Of course Pletcher’s horse won as the second choice in a slow time. Affair finished 6th. VOID BET
.
Race 7 – “Bridgetta” went off at her morning line odds of 12-1. The price was right but the horse wasn’t. She bumped with the winner right after the break, stayed on the rail and then faded to
finished 7th. The time was slow in this one. -$10.00
.
DEL MAR –
Race 1 & 2 – In race 1 “Roses for Joni” came in third just two lengths short. “Fire Wise” never got any closer than 4th and ended up 7th. The time was so-so for first time fillies. We were out of it in the first race but in the second leg, race 2, “Real Dream” won the thing and “Outrageous Belle” ran third. The time was a tick faster then the fillies in the first race. -$8.00
.
Race 7 – “Smart Ellis” won the race “Unusual Heatwave” came in third. Two out of three again. “Mental Giant” never really got going, big horse, long stride. He ended up 6th. Granny cashed 5 tickets for $15.80 and she bet $18 so she dropped $2.40 today. The time was a little below average. My horses finished 1st, 3rd, & 6th. -$6.00
.
-$24.00 Today +$227.20 Starting Out Tomorrow

@ Laura J thanks for the link to fetal development. I was looking at back posts for that but couldn’t find it. Nice to be able to watch how baby Z is growing.
@ Judy B, thanks for the link to the story of “Your Host” what amazing courage and heart many of this horses have. And also loved watching Z’s Handsome Man Bernie, I just never get tired of looking at him.

I believe in the power of prayer, so I hope that those of you who are so inclined will be willing to pray for our friend LouAnn (who posts here with some regularity) who is enduring a lot at this time, health-wise.
ZENYATTA certainly has had a beautiful effect on people. It’s sweet to see how adored she is, and how people are so moved by her. It’s certainly easy to understand though.
Gloria
Hey Big Mama Z! You look sensational for a mama to be! Take care!! XOXO
Kathy
I went to the track today. And after seeing your recent “mom to be” pics, I have to say that you still look more athletic and powerful than any of the horses in training I saw. You are amazing! I got a great picture of you signed by Mike Smith in the track gift shop. That made the day extra special!
Deborah Richman
Z, you are such an adorable mama to be! You look so healthy and happy. My daughter is going to be a mama too. I have been busy all week getting my house ready for her baby shower.
Lou Ann…lots of healing thoughts and prayers coming your way!
All… Have a good weekend, everyone! I’ll be “back” next week :)

It is late Friday night, I just wanted to address a note to Dottie. We haven’t heard any more news about John’s mother, Mary Jane, would you please provide us with an update on her condition. Prayers for her and John! XO

Dearest Z, I was at the college all day today, and so now I’m playing catch up. I haven’t been able to read today’s post yet, but I have a response for #322.
@SUSAN in TN—I think anyone who has read your beautiful posts about the horses of River Edge Farm Horse Rescue would tell you that you are NOT a WANNA BE writer—you are A WRITER! Bless you! As to your question, I teach English as a Second Language (also known as ESL) for Ventura College, and I love it! I’ve been doing it for ten years now, ever since I “burned out” as a dog-rescuer. You would think that ESL enrollments would be really high, but in fact they are quite low, and some classes for the fall semester, which starts on Monday, have already been cancelled. One or both of my classes may yet suffer that fate, but if that happens, at least I’ll have more time for Z’s website!

@Gary Moulton: I find your race-day summaries fascinating-I’ll bet you or many others can tell me what a “carry over” is-thanks!
@Judy B: Thanks for posting link to Chester. He feels so much better after getting those 2 teeth out yesterday! He didn’t drop any feed today-yay:) I am going to try to communicate with Netflix about LIR-will let you or Terry C know. I watched “Jockey”-really interesting but very sobering.
Good night to all<3

@JAG: Thank you!
@Chris H: So glad to hear about Keeva-after a scary start, it’s wonderful to know she is healthy an happy!
@Trina N: Thank you-too kind! Your job sounds really neat-and challenging! My husband always said that English was his second language-he spoke “rural Tennessean.”
@Terry Crow: Great joke and story-might as well laugh, right?
@The Kennedys: Thanks for Mario/Zenny story-how cute!
Leslie R.
Hi Zenny, you look fantastic! I’m so happy you and your baby to be are doing great. You deserve to be pampered, sweet girl. Thanks to Sarah for taking the pics!
I hope you have a fun weekend too!
Love to all,
Leslie

Dearest Zenyatta, I am sending prayers for all the special members of your community who are having health problems, especially Lou Ann Cingel, Catherine Uher and our dear John Shirreff’s mom-—hoping for a complete recovery for all.
@Donna from Baltimore—Prayers for you too. I hope you get to watch the video that Arlene posted of Lorenzo the French Man with his horses, and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do. I find it truly relaxing and refreshing—it brings a sense of serenity and awe.
@Chris H—So nice to get the update on how well your “red bag” filly is doing.
@Terry Crow—Cute jokes.
Joan.
Awe, what a beautiful girl you are.
Love ya Z

@Elvira Jatzke— I enjoyed your post about your beautiful black mare Niagara, whose baby may come around the same time as Zenny’s. Hope all continues well for both Niagara and Zenyatta, and for the little ones to come.
