Happy Friday!
I hope all of you are making some fun plans for the weekend. I am! This morning I had the most relaxing time. Not only did I have a very cool and refreshing BATH, but I also got to play in the water with my guys! It felt terrific!
As you can see, it is a very pretty morning in Lexington. Lane’s End is such a beautiful place to live. I am really enjoying myself.
Sarah took these photos this morning so you could get a chance to see ME as I am at this very moment. I’m doing everything just as a should….as an expectant MOM…. and I am really starting to have that ‘IN FOAL’ look.
Baby-to-be and I are doing GREAT! Everyone is so gracious to ME! My dear paddock pal, Tasty Temptation, and I are enjoying every single moment of this attention. I must say…I really feel SO PAMPERED and LOVED. LUCKY ME!
This weekend, as has been the case often this summer, both Del Mar and Saratoga are featuring some very competitive Grade 1 races. This time for 3 year old fillies….one on the main track and one on the dirt. Other race tracks are also offering some terrific races. I hope you have a great time handicapping and enjoying our SPORT!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Hi Dottie and Queen Z – Just want to let you know that I’ve had a lot of turmoil in my life lately, and haven’t posted as much as had been doing. But I read every one of the diary posts and comment when I can.
Horses seem to like their baths – do they really like them as much as it seems?

Dear Susan in Tn.:
Let me know and I will mail it to you. Hugs, J.B.

I’m not good at writing but I wanted you to know that I read your blogs every day to keep updated on all the news in your life. It sounds as though Lane’s End is providing for your needs. Since your pregnant now you’re not allowed to have any Guinness.
Stay healthy.
Vicki
Thanks for the photo I really needed my Zenyatta fix miss seeing so much but so happy that you are doing so well. Thanks to everyone at the Farm for taking such good care of you.

Love the bath photos. We always loved to watch Mario bathe Zenyatta. He said she loved her baths, hated to be sweaty.

Posted a photo taken this morning of Nereid enjoying the breeze from a fan outside her stall — note her forelock blowing. We will be there to watch her run in the Del Mar Oaks tomorrow. And, of course, rooting for her.

Hello Zeny! You look so relax and content. I am so happy and feel blessed to be a part of your journey. Not only do they take good care of you, they must feel so lucky to be with you most of the time. Hugs and Kisses, Marilu

Zenny! You look absolutely MAGNIFIQUE (as they would say here in Quebec)!!!! Your journal today reminds me of the many things grooms and caretakers do that make champions like you FEEL HAPPY WITHIN THEMSELVES. It’s just SO important when you’re an intelligent being to indulge yourself — or, in your case, sweet girl — be indulged in simple, happy rituals like a luxurious bath. BOY! Do I ever wish we humans could climb into a sudsy tub OUTSIDE and just lie back and love the world!
HUGS & KISSES TO ALL…..
Jo
You look like you are posing for us even in your bath way too cute have you tried drinking from the hose? It’s fun says my horse

L left a joke at the end of the last thread along with some notes. For those of you who read them, enjoy. @Susan in TN-Too bad about Let It Ride. I think that Judy Berube and i have hyped it to the ;point where it couldn’t possibly be as funny as we say. However, I note that she has already offered to send you a copy and I will seond that motion. Jockeys is an excellent documentary that gives some insight into the problems the jocks have with weight and injuries. Here is a lament that I will post. It is written in the female vein since that is the way i came across it, but it certainly applies to males, too. “I have become a little older since I saw you last.and a few changes have come into my life. Frankly, I have become a frivolous old gal. I am seeing five gentlemen every day. As soon as I wake up, Will Power helps me get out of bed. Then I go to see John. Next, Charlie Horse comes along, and while he is here, he takes a lot of my time and attention. When he leaves, Arthur Ritis shows up and stays the rest of the day. He doesn’t like to stay in one place very long, so he takes me from joint to joint. After such a busy day, I’m really tired and glad to go to bed with Ben Gay.” Another good news, bad news joke-The commander of a fort on the edge of the wilderness during the time of the Indian wars called the troops together. When all had assembled, he told the troops “I have some good news and I have some bad news. Which would you like to hear first?” The soldiers looked at each other, and one of them said “We would like to hear the good news first.” “Well, men,” said the commander, “President Grant has not forgotten about all of the sacrifices you have made while serving your country in such an out-of-the-way place. As a reward, you are all getting a change of underwear.” When the cheering of the soldiers finally stopped, one of them asked the commander “What is the bad news?” The commander then said “Private Jones, you change with Private Smith, …”

Nothing better than getting cleaned up to make a person (or horse) feel great!
Our little filly was 3 months old this week. I had previously posted on this page that she was a “Red Bag” delivery and things were touch and go with her for a little while. She is such a sweetheart, she lets us rub her all over, play with her ears and accepts our kisses. We finally found a name for her “Frenchman’s Irish Keeva”. Dad name is “Frenchman’s Irish” and Moms name is “Sassy Be My Name”. Mom is quite a sassy gal so we decided we would use Dads name. We looked up Irish words for inspiration and Keeva means “Beautiful Blessing”. So our little Irish Blessing (Keeva) is doing great. She is a fast little thing (but so are Mom and Dad). Hope time flys for your pregnancy and soon your little runner will be by your side!

Hi Mama Z, boy you are truly a full figured woman now!! It looks great on you, your always going to be our Black Beauty. Wonder how big that baby is now and if you feel any of those little twinges women get after the first couple of months? Can’t even imagine what a big day that will be when you go into labor, the whole farm will be jumping. Wish we all could see the miracle when it happens, I wonder if the Mosses will try to be there.
Luv you big girl and kisses on your nose

Here is a “too cute” story…my 6 yr. old daughter always tries to find ways to insert your name into her favorite 6 year old songs…every chance she gets…We watched at least a dozen of your old you tube videos today! Maybe some day she can go on American Idol and sing Liza G’s awesome song she sings for you!

Zenny, here’s a high hoof for Sarah who continues to give us such great pictures of you. The camera sure loves you and you still know exactly where to look! What a star you are and always will be. Your “peeps” at LE must enjoy every minute with you…including bath time. Have a wonderful weekend…I am still missing you on the track but happy that you are now enjoying the good life!

Oh Zenny, new pictures of YOU, Miss Cover Girl, always knowing where the camera is and how to show your best side. Is that Matt and Charles we see joining you in the spa? You must be happy to have Sarah and her camera back from Saratoga. Thank you Dottie and Sarah for these photos, we’ve all been missing our girl even tho’ we’ve had some great lessons. Tomorrow, at this same time, Vic and I will be in Saratoga and the Alabama will be over. We’re both hoping that we’ll see a Zenyatta “run from behind” from Inglorious but we’re so happy that we will be there supporting our Queen’s Plate diva. Most important is that all horses and jockeys come home safely on both sides of the country. Enjoy your weekend with Tasty T and make sure to visit that spa again, love the staff!!

For those looking for a Mario/Zenyatta story to start your weekend, this one is particularly apropos for TGIF.
Every day around 3 PM Zenyatta would run around her stall screaming for Mario. When he arrived in response, she was so excited and happy as if she had not seen him for weeks. She knew it was Happy Hour — time for a Guiness followed by grazing — two of her absolute favorites.
*****
Both Mario and Steve Willard (her exercise rider) independently compared Eblouissante with Zenyatta and stated that while E is tall like Zenyatta, Z is longer. Eblouissante is more like Vertigineux — tall but not as long through the body.
*****
Mario noted when Zenyatta stood in her Barn 55 stall with her head out of the door her rear legs almost reached the back wall. If I recall, someone reported that she was given on oversized stall at Lane’s End.
Susan Harmon
You’re looking so especially pretty on this day. I am glad you love living at Lane’s End Farm. I can see how nice it is there. Nothing but the very best for our beautiful and precious Zenyatta!!
Kendra
Zenyatta, where’s the rubber ducky? Oh, well looks like you had fun anyway. Always love seeing up-to-date pictures of you. Are you getting any vibes as to whether you are going to have a colt or a filly? Take care. Love ya.
Dee
You are so beautiful Zenyatta. We love you so much!
