Happy Friday!
I hope all of you are making some fun plans for the weekend. I am! This morning I had the most relaxing time. Not only did I have a very cool and refreshing BATH, but I also got to play in the water with my guys! It felt terrific!
As you can see, it is a very pretty morning in Lexington. Lane’s End is such a beautiful place to live. I am really enjoying myself.
Sarah took these photos this morning so you could get a chance to see ME as I am at this very moment. I’m doing everything just as a should….as an expectant MOM…. and I am really starting to have that ‘IN FOAL’ look.
Baby-to-be and I are doing GREAT! Everyone is so gracious to ME! My dear paddock pal, Tasty Temptation, and I are enjoying every single moment of this attention. I must say…I really feel SO PAMPERED and LOVED. LUCKY ME!
This weekend, as has been the case often this summer, both Del Mar and Saratoga are featuring some very competitive Grade 1 races. This time for 3 year old fillies….one on the main track and one on the dirt. Other race tracks are also offering some terrific races. I hope you have a great time handicapping and enjoying our SPORT!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@All: Whenever I hear the song ‘You are So Beautiful to Me’ by Joe Cocker, I think of Ms. Zenyatta. Just a thought to share with all you special, wonderful people…Lisa g.

The Mosses’ SISTER MOON in her winning debut beat Sidney’s Candy TRACK RECORD at five and one half furlongs in Del Mar race 1. Congratulations to the Mosses and John Sadler.
Trina Nagele
That was Sidney’s Candy’s track record.

SARATOGA –
Race 2 – “Shoshana” showed absolutely nothing. This is another race I never would have bet on in real life. Really, I would have passed the whole card because of the off track. I handicap for a fast track and if the conditions aren’t right get out. I knew the Bernardini/Phipps horse was the one to beat but I have to try to beat the chalk or pass. Pletcher and Bernardini can’t win them all, although when you see a Bernardini going that Pletcher trains, I would say that’s a safe to play, LOL. “Shoshana” ended up 5th and the time was slow. -$10.00
.
Race 6 & 7 – In the first leg Pletchers horse, he owns this one, “Sweet Cat” was scratched so we passed this bet. “Singn On Themoon” ran another herd horse race, mid pack all the way. The time in this one was a little below average. In the second leg “Flavor Girl” ran third most of the way and just necked the front runner for Granny (The Show Spot). “Read the Research” raced up near the pace and then faded to 5th. The first three favorites all finished off the board in this race. The time was slow. VOID BET
.
Race 10 – “Royal Bonnie” was scratched so we passed this one too. The other two, “Wholelottashakin” was no match for the winner but was best of the rest. “Strike Accord” ran pretty bland, mid pack all the way and finished 6th. The time was slow. VOID BET
.
DEL MAR –
Race 1 – WINNER – Sister, sister, what a nice filly. Go figure, the first triple we hit, even though it was a little one, turned out to be with Zen’s connections, and we hit it straight to boot. “Sister Moon” laid down the law end to end just a ½ a tick off the track record. Nobody near her. Congrats!!
The $1 tri paid $14.60 x 5 = $73.00
.
Granny bet to show on all the horses that were left after scratches. She cashed 5 tickets and I had to pull a dollar forty cents out of my pocket to pay here.
.
$15.00 Bet Today $73.00 Won +$58.00 Today +$251.20 Starting Out Tomorrow.

@Terry Crow, Goose that’s good, I will get Trina to edit it for me, LOL, right after she edits “rains to reins” in the Baby Results post 08-20-11. I’m so embarrassed I spelled reins wrong. Guess I was thinking about rain.
.
@judy berube – Thanks, the luck worked a little today. Only a few weeks left to hit’em hard. Good Luck Judy the next time you play.

I hear The Factor will not be shipped to Saratoga. Oh well sure was looking for the showdown with Uncle Mo. Maybe in the BC.
Looking forward to Blind Luck. YOU GO GIRL!!!!
If you haven’t seen the John Henry movie do. It was great. Thoroughly enjoyed looking back on his incredible career. Talking about an underdog.

@Kari Bussell–Climb every mountain till you find your dream! We are with you! Please e-mail me—let’s see if maybe there’s something that can be done to make that climb easier, as Diana S already asked. There’s no one I would sooner help.

OOPS–According to Gary Moulton, Sister Moon didn’t beat the track record, as I heard it on TVG. Real close in any event.

Abigail from Montreal, I don’t know how I could have missed your post on The Host, I always try to read them they are EXCELLENT! Thank you for reposting that, my gosh I was in tears between the courageous horse and your wonderful dog! Bless your heart for what you’ve done for him I myself rescued a beaten and starved cocker spaniel and he is just the greatest dog. This is truly a great inspirational story and should be published for handicapped people. Thanks and hugs for your thoughtfulness.

Dear Gary M.:
Thank you. Glad you had a decent day today. Good handicapping. Good luck tomorrow. Hugs, J.B.
AJ from CA
@Max – thanks for the link to the interview w/John Sheriffs. I’m sure it’s extremely difficult for him to truly “let go” like everyone else who worked with Z. She truly stood apart from all the rest and put her stamp (hoove) on horse racing forever. She will always be my #1 fave horse!!
judy berube
Dear Lisa g.:
You’re welcome. That song suits Z. Can’t wait to see Mo run on Saturday. Rooting for him. Love that boy. Hugs, J.B.

@ Trina Nagele – I looked up the track record and I think I’m wrong. Del Mar lists the track record as 102.71 and Sister ran a 102.70 and that’s what TDN is reporting. She beat it by 1/100th of a second. The DRF list the track record in the charts as 102.60. BrisNet Charts lists the record as 103.20. Equibase doesn’t list the record in their Charts but they say it was a new track record. I was going by the DRF when I wrote my post and that would make it a 1/10th of a second short. One thing they all agree on is that the sister raised a few blisters in 102.70. I will call them all tomorrow. I call them all the time when I find discrepancies. They probably get tired of hearing from me because I find a lot of mistakes.
Abigail from Montreal
@ Sue Frederick: Thanks so much for your response to the article about Your Host. It means so much to me!
@Sign: I know! I posted here before reading your response on THE VAULT.

The recent article Max posted regarding JS
Interview also expresses the tenuousness of trainer,
Owner relationships. Racing is a tough business so much
Based on Racing luck, skill and a huge amount of
Competition. I commend everyone involved
With this great sport: they are all athletes in their
Own right. Thanks to all of you for sharing your
Talents with us and to the TB who have heart, courage
And boldness to give their all.

@Max—THANKS for the link to the interview with our dear John.

Dear Zenny and all her fans. A very nice article in the North County Times today in the sports section with “Your John” I’m sure it is available online as well.
Just watched the video replay of the “older fella” Awesome Gem” What a guy. He just goes on and on. I saw him win the Hollywood Gold Cup in 2010 beating the 2009 winner Rail Trip Great horses. He is a handsome boy. So many wonderful races this weekend with the babies too. Congratulations to the Moss’s
Hope you have a wonderful week. We look forward to all your news.

@Kari Bussell: Great to hear from you today! I am, however, very concerned about the crossroads and Mountain you spoke of. Prayers and good wishes to you!
@Diana S.: Positive thoughts and prayers go out to you. All the best wishes.
@Everyone: Have a very happy, healthy week!

@Shari–Loved your post. As a born-and-raised former Michigander, I especially liked your mnemonic for the Great Lakes. Too cute! My classes start tomorrow too, and I feel divided about it. Looking forward to teaching, but how will I be able to keep up with Z’s website and the annex?
