Hello,
Today is such a great day…and a time for gratitude and celebration! This statement leads to the fact that there are 2 things about ME I’d like to share with you that perhaps you may not already know!
First of all, I absolutely love the element of SURPRISE! Upon reflection, I think this was a consideration with my ‘come from behind strategy’ when I was racing. This style does add a ‘tremendous amount of surprise’ and excitement to a race.
Secondly, and this is very important, I LOVE A GOOD PARTY! I have actually hosted and attended many of them while I was at BARN 55! (We were truly such a FUN GROUP!) MY JOHN always knew that I wanted to be a part of everything that was going on…so I actually became quite an endearing hostess!
Well, recently, I was able to do both of these things and it felt TERRIFIC! Pam Harper’s parents were celebrating their 50th Anniversary. The family was already hosting a lovely party for them…but gave great thought to what would be the PERFECT gift to honor this celebration. The family wanted something special, meaningful, and especially memorable for them!
Lo and behold, guess what? IT WAS ME! Pam and her family bought a ZENYATTA BRONZE for their parents’ special 50th Anniversary present. This is absolutely TOO CUTE!
Not only did I get to surprise them, per Pam, but the entire atmosphere of the party was filled with great fun and lots of memories and emotion. From the moment I was removed from the gift box, I was able to spend the entire evening with the HONOREES. They literally carried ME around during the party. I went from table to table with them visiting with all of their guests. They shared their thoughts, experiences, and memories of ME with all of their dear friends. It was truly a very special evening!
Pam commented that after quite some time, she literally had to take ME from her Mom’s arms. Her Mom would not let me go! I’ve heard everyone had a GREAT time at the party…especially ME! THANK YOU for including ME!
How FORTUNATE am I! I am deeply honored to be thought of as the “PERFECT GIFT” for such a memorable occasion for such charming people. I am truly BLESSED!
Have a fabulous day! Here’s to enjoying some ‘fun’ surprises in your life!
With Love,
Hugs to All~ (HAPPY 50th ANNIVERSARY!)

@ I agree and this is coming from a social studies teacher. A symbol for the USA should be the horse because of the horse being intoduced to the American Indians.

Trina – You are going from strength to strength with your birthday poetry. I doubt that your position as Poet Laureate will be challenged. What are we ever going to be able to do to honor you on your special day?
Robin

@Judy Berube-I can see Trotter in my mind’s eye trying to get the bet down while tied up. Guess I need to watch it again, too. @Shari Voltz-I know it sounds funny, but from the perspective of those times a turkey would not have been a bad choice.

@ Trina N – I’m speechless , you have no idea how much this means to me. THANKS. On post # 318(aka WW3) Cynthia H. suggested that everyone writes a personal Z-story on their birthday. In our house the t.v. is on HRTV 24/7. So in late november I’m watching this 3 & up maiden race (not exactly a glamour spot) in CA, and WOW, this filly runs powerful! I called my husband and told him to come over and watch the replay, this was one awesome filly and her name was really cool too. I missed Zenny’s 2nd race, but after that watched everyone of them. I tried to convince my friend to watch her races, but she wasn’t really interested.Than the series “Jockeys” came on. I taped the episodes and we would watch 3 or 4 together, fast forwarding through commercials. My friend was hooked after that. Every Zenny race we would text back and forth, making sure not to miss a single dance step. Sure enough Zenny never disappointed us. I never got to see Zenny in person ;got really close to going to the 2010 Breeders Cup with a juvenile turf colt ,but unfortunately we ended up not going. I got a computer in october 2010 and was lucky to come across the diary, which has been a daily highlight since.

OMGosh this has to be one of my favorite posts!!! Love the look on her face. What a wonderful surprise for them and a gift of a lifetime. My Zenyatta statue was a 35th wedding anniversary present. The best gift I have ever received. My husband loves it as much as I do. It is a masterpiece. As for Zenny being the Perle Mesta of horses, I can totally see that. She loves being with people almost as much as they love her.

SARATOGA –
Race 3 – WINNER – “Voodoo Daddy” took em gate to wire with a good time and paid $7.40 x 5 = $37.00 – $10.00 = +$27.00
.
Race 5 – WINNER – “Reserved Quality” was in third, pulled even at the 1/8th pole and battled hard on even terms then put a head in front. The time was slow. “Reserved Quality” paid $6.20 x 5 = $31.00 – $10.00 = +$21.00
.
Race 7 – “Pure Grit” ran the best of the three and came up for 3rd. The other two ran early and dropped out after a quarter. The time was slow. They finished 3rd, 6th, & 8th – $6.00
.
DEL MAR –
Race 4 – “Endless Cruise” blew them away. He was far the best and the time was a little above average. He was third morning line favorite at 3-1 but ended up going off the favorite at 8/5. Doug’s horse was second favorite. “Ride Captain” ran a good second holding off Doug’s horse. “Officer Jones” got too far back at the start but did make up some good ground at the end, just not enough. In real life I would have never played this race, odds to low, field too small, the dollar tri only paid $19.30. I would have passed this race. I’m not only trying to pick young, green horses with very little history, mostly by published workouts that might not be that accurate and trying to pick the top three when we play a baby bump box. We haven’t hit one yet. Only reason we are up a little is because of that pick 3 we hit last week. Granny bet $16 today and got back $12.40 so she lost $3.60. She needs one of those 10 dollar show horses to come in or a few at even money or a little higher. We finished 1st, 2nd, & 6th – $6.00
.
$68.00 WON -$32.00 Bet +$36.00 Today +$257.20 Starting Out Tomorrow
.
@NOTE: I put up two Baby winners today that were above 2-1. The only reason is Todd didn’t have a horse in either race, LOL
.
@DJ – I will watch for the Captain but he is not a 2yr old. At first I thought you were talking about “Ride Captain”, he finished 2nd but then I realized you were talking about the 6th race.
.
@Trina Nagele – Edit, Edit, Edit some more, LOL. I see you have been hard at work with your rhyme in mind. Nice work! I’ve had brain freeze and time melt lately so I haven’t been able to spend much time on my project.
Joan.
@ Georgia
What a wonderful surprise. I am so happy you got your bronze. Congratulations!!

Just want to say one more time that the horse should be the symbol of the USA. Horses helped open our frontiers, carry us back and forth, pull our plows, raise our homes, carry our goods. The eagle just flew by, beautiful and fierce though she looks. This country owes so much to the horse and it had better start showing that appreciation and seriously remembering how hooves meant life way back then. The horse represents the American spirit far better than a raptor does. Yup, I’m serious about this idea!
Goodnight, precious Zenyatta–sleep well and dream of carrots and peppermints and the green, green grass of home…I love you.

What a wonderful and beautiful gift! You are such an inspiration. You are the Queen. Have a great weekend Zen!
