Hello,
Today is such a great day…and a time for gratitude and celebration! This statement leads to the fact that there are 2 things about ME I’d like to share with you that perhaps you may not already know!
First of all, I absolutely love the element of SURPRISE! Upon reflection, I think this was a consideration with my ‘come from behind strategy’ when I was racing. This style does add a ‘tremendous amount of surprise’ and excitement to a race.
Secondly, and this is very important, I LOVE A GOOD PARTY! I have actually hosted and attended many of them while I was at BARN 55! (We were truly such a FUN GROUP!) MY JOHN always knew that I wanted to be a part of everything that was going on…so I actually became quite an endearing hostess!
Well, recently, I was able to do both of these things and it felt TERRIFIC! Pam Harper’s parents were celebrating their 50th Anniversary. The family was already hosting a lovely party for them…but gave great thought to what would be the PERFECT gift to honor this celebration. The family wanted something special, meaningful, and especially memorable for them!
Lo and behold, guess what? IT WAS ME! Pam and her family bought a ZENYATTA BRONZE for their parents’ special 50th Anniversary present. This is absolutely TOO CUTE!
Not only did I get to surprise them, per Pam, but the entire atmosphere of the party was filled with great fun and lots of memories and emotion. From the moment I was removed from the gift box, I was able to spend the entire evening with the HONOREES. They literally carried ME around during the party. I went from table to table with them visiting with all of their guests. They shared their thoughts, experiences, and memories of ME with all of their dear friends. It was truly a very special evening!
Pam commented that after quite some time, she literally had to take ME from her Mom’s arms. Her Mom would not let me go! I’ve heard everyone had a GREAT time at the party…especially ME! THANK YOU for including ME!
How FORTUNATE am I! I am deeply honored to be thought of as the “PERFECT GIFT” for such a memorable occasion for such charming people. I am truly BLESSED!
Have a fabulous day! Here’s to enjoying some ‘fun’ surprises in your life!
With Love,
Hugs to All~ (HAPPY 50th ANNIVERSARY!)

I mistakenly left a couple of dog jokes at the end of the last thread. Anybody who reads them, enjoy. Here is today’s joke, although it is starting to hit close to home. An old man decided that his old wife was getting hard of hearing. So he called the doctor to make an appointment to have her hearing checked. The doctor said he could see her in two weeks, and meanwhile there’s a simple, informal test the husband could do to give the doctor some idea of the extent of the problem. “Here’s what you do,” said the doctor. “Start about 40 feet away from her, and speak in a normal conversational tone and see if she hears you. If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response.” So, that evening she’s in the kitchen cooking dinner, and he’s in the living room, and he says to himself “I’m about 40 feet away. Let’s see what happens.” “Honey, what’s for supper?” No res;ponse. So, he moves to the other end of the room, about 30 feet away. “Honey, what’s for supper?” No response. So, he moves into the dining room, about so feet away. “Honey, what’s for supper?” No response. On to the kitchen door, only 10 feet away. “Honey, what’s for supper?” No response. So, he walks right up behind her. “Honey, what’s for supper?” “For the fifth time, CHICKEN.”

Just wonderful…..hugs.

A Reader’s Guide: “Eveline” is a Dutch name pronounced in four syllables: the first part sounds like “Ava,” and the second part rhymes with “arena” or “Catalina.”
To Eveline on the Occasion of Her Birthday
August 17, 2011
Our dearest Eveline
Excels in every arena.
A trainer by her very nature
And a woman who loves to ride,
Because of her talents, she’s now able
To work in a forty-horse stable
In Maryland’s countryside.
In her loving husband Ivin
She found her life’s sweetest syrup—
Both he and she had come from Europe,
And as you might guess,
Fate led them to meet in the U.S.
Their mutual work in the world of the horse
Brought them together, of course.
Both rode horses that loved to jump:
Ivin was a steeplechase jockey,
Eveline soared in show rings.
When one to the other first came near,
You could almost hear
Those two hearts thump.
He was Norwegian, she was Dutch.
One day, she heard him say,
“My dear Eveline,
I love you so much,
If you’ll be my wife,
I’ll love you for life.”
And thus they were wed
As onward time sped.
They switched from their jumpers
To racehorses on the flat.
And aside from all that,
Eveline used her skills with her cat,
And Tiger became a certified therapy pet
That hospice seniors loved to pat.
And Sparky, her rescue dog,
Certified therapist too,
Visited hospitalized children
So they wouldn’t feel blue.
To Eveline, competition beckoned
Not only for the equines,
But also for her with her canine:
Sparky and she went into the ring
In obedience and freestyle.
And all the while,
Watching her, Ivin would smile.
They did everything together,
Linked with bonds of love
That nothing can sever.
But that which fate gives, it sadly can take.
Eveline has lost Ivin, her soul mate forever.
Thus this birthday is muted with sorrows–
It’s the first since Ivin’s passing.
But Eveline knows love is everlasting,
And we pray she finds inner strength
For life’s tomorrows.
So let us take our dear Eveline
To the neighborhood cantina
And in celebration of her say,
“Have a blessed birthday!”

ODE TO TRINA NAGELE, P.L. EXTRAORDINAIRE
(composed in the shower, whilst ‘pooing my hair)
With ballpoint afire, T. Nagele aspires
To birthdays honor, with poetry and verse;
Her words flow sweetly, with nary a curse.
WIth couplets rhyming and sonnets sublime,
Her work will stand the test of time.
Can she keep up this action, all 364?
Of stuff stern is she made,
She will do this— and more.
Her Dumpling tag proudy affixed to her breast,
Zenyatta has ‘nointed her one of the best.

Dear Zenyatta–one of the happiest and best Zenny stories ever!!! The photos really show the joy at that party, and carrying you around is just what I would have done. What a super gift–what a memorable idea. I love your stories, Zenny!
KIMBERLEY: so glad to hear the news
TRINA: You have become the POET LAUREATE of Zenny’s site!!!! Bravo Judy and Happy Birthday EVELINE!
Zenyatta is always happy about the idea of retraining retired TBs for other work. Here is a short story about such training: http://www.britishhorseracing.com/inside_horseracing/racingindustry/life/afterracing.asp
I STILL BELIEVE THE SYMBOL OF THE USA SHOULD BE THE HORSE, NOT THE EAGLE. OUR COUNTRY WAS BUILT ON THE SHOULDERS OF HORSES!!!! THE EAGLE JUST FLEW BY!!!!!
Love to Zenny, to Dottie, to all.
Lisa g
@Georgia, I just had to look at those pictures again, the way you a looking at Zenyatta while holding her, reminds me of the way Ann looks at Zenyatta. Again, you are such a lucky girl…Lisa g.

The great thing is that apparently Georgia Harper was one of the Final 4 for the Zenyatta contest, so thanks to her daughter Pam, she now has her sculpture.
I have to say that it has been such a pleasure to talk to and correspond with all of the wonderful people who have purchased the Zenyatta sculpture. As I keep saying, Zenyatta lovers are the nicest people! Thanks all, and as always thanks to the Mosses and Dottie for letting me be a small part of it.
Lisa g
Nina, you captured Ms Zenyatta perfectly.

Zenny, What fun that you got to be the centre of attention, admired by all and loved by Mr. & Mrs. Harper. I can totally understand them carrying you around, if I had one of your bronzes, you’d be with me 24 x 7. Congratulations to the Harpers on their 50th.
