Congratulations to all of the 2011 inductees:

Sarah was so sweet and took some other photos for us to share of the Museum. I hope you enjoy them.
I wanted to show you ROBERT FRANKEL’S plaque on the wall…as Dottie actually wrote the script for it for Bobby.

thanks for the John Mabee article. Tough choices. Harmonious is one of my favorite ladies along with Blind Luck, Joyful Victory and oh, heck they are all beautiful. Lots of great ladies running tomorrow. I love Cozi Rosie too. Dead heat for all?? Just always the wish for a safe trip for horse and rider. Thanks to you Dottie we have a wonderful loving venue to share our thoughts, hopes, prayers and make new “virtual friends”. Hope to meet up with some of you at the races. and recognize each other by our
by our Dumpling tags.
Will look forward to the Noor chat Sunday.

@judy berube: Thank you so much for the link on the neat article on the Arlington Million. I had forgotten that Laffitt had ridden Estrapade in the 1986 edition. I saw her race at Santa Anita several times. She was really something super-special. John Sullivan, The Bart’s trainer, went to his grave refusing to believe that his horse had lost the inaugeral running.
@Kari Bussell: Uh-oh! Am I in trouble here? Not my fault—partner is responsible for relaying whereabouts at all times. Otherwise, angst and concern run rampant on Diary site! Brilliant idea! Liza must be the one to pen the DEE theme song. I know she wil do it, especially if you remind her about the photo which I took at Zenyatta’s Apreciation Day (blackmail). “If y’all all dump on us….you will be bust.”
@Deborah Richman: Thank you for officially accepting the post as DEE gift shop manager!
DMCQ: Thanks so much, but you would be wasted walking hots at the barn! You should be in-charge of checking grammar for all DEE press releases. It would be embarrassing to mix our y’all all’s with our y’all’s!
@Diana S: I cannot believe that you were overlooked. I was sure you had been given a role to play at DEE! Of course, your rescues will be more than welcome to to live a happy life on the farm, and it would be an honor to have MZ BossyPants grazing in our pastures! With KB’s approval, you are hereby placed in-charge of all rescue appeals and retirement requests. Also–what would be the Latin equivalent of “Don’t Dump on us,” so that we might place it on our crest?
Delrene
Whoops! I really meant to “proof” my post.
Sorry folks.

@Kathy Kimber: I know, Kathy. In Britain, August is called the “silly season,” because so many of the newsmakers (gentry and royalty, etc.) are away at their estates, and there is often little news of any note (boy, is THIS August ever an exeption to that!), so that the papers are often full of inconsequential or trivial articles. Now, with so little in the way of hard news regarding The Queen, we are occupying ourselves with all kinds of other things. Her life is necessarily very quiet right now, which is all for the good. Think what it will be like on this site seven months from now! But she is defintely h this site—in our hearts.
Cynthia H.
*But she is definitely on this site—in our hearts.

@Kathy Kimber: I know. It doesn’t seem the same. I miss Zenyatta’s old site.

@Kathy Kimber and others concerned about too little Zenyatta on this site, I think of Zenyatta (as I am sure most do) every time I access her website. And she is and will always be in our hearts.
But allow us to share a few gems Mario, Zenyatta’s groom, told us when we visited the Shirreffs’ Del Mar barn a few days ago.
When Mario arrived at the barn each day, upon hearing his voice, Zenyatta would “scream”
for him until he arrived at her stall.
*****
His best times with Zenyatta were the quiet moments when the two of them were alone in her stall. Mario said it was like talking with another human. She would tell him what she wanted, how she was feeling. He said he never experienced anything approaching this level of communication with other horses and these were indeed very special moments.
*****
Zenyatta always knew when it was race day. In the afternoon, she would go to the back of her stall, lie down and sleep and rest for long periods to conserve energy before executing her war dance on the way to post.
Kathy Kimber
@Kennedy’s in San Diego,
Thank you very much these are the wonderful things we like to hear of our beloved Zenyatta they are to few and far between. How very special of you to share those “Mario” moments with us. Thank you again.
Max
@The Kennedys in San Diego. Thank you for those wonderful gems about Mario and Zenyatta. They ring so true about the great Queen and her friend Mario. Beautiful.

@Kimberly Potter —The Arlington Million post time is set for 5:15 p.m. CDT (I guess that’s 4:15PM in Montana). Of course we are praying for the little one to stay inside your daughter-in-law till the time is right. Hugs.

@The Kennedys in San Diego–Wow, that is so special to hear about the extraordinary relationship between Zenyatta and Mario,and about Zenyatta’s resting before a race! Thanks so much for sharing!

@Cynthia H:
I’m using someone else’s PC but had to respond to your post. As lovely as it is seven months does not fill in a gap between now and the baby. If you notice even though we come to this site because of Zen we get so very little information or pictures on her and no disprect intended to anyone but
this is turning into a chat room. I know Dottie is very busy, but the lack of information on Zenyatta or pictures will not keep people coming back over and over again until March. And again, no disrespect intended but once the baby is born are we going to get anymore information than we are receiving right now.
I have background in this and his name was Kelso. Once he was removed from the sight of his fans the interest slowly started dropping and people started getting on with their lives in other areas until there was no more information other than what would be printed from time to time.
I have noticed over the past couple of months that there are fewer “Old Timers” posting and yes we have new people who have come to the site but they are getting no information to encourage them to come back to a site that has no information on Zenyatta.
I cannto second guess Dottie but at some point I am sure she is going to have to rethink this web site due again to lack on information or pictures on Zen.
And please people do slam me for stating what I am sure a lot of you are thinking I love her too as I love my Kelso and I have been around a long time and seen a great deal and it saddens me on what I am seeing now on her site.
I love the interaction with eveyone on the site and the different directions we go off in on our dialogue, but ask yourself this. If we had pictures and posting on what Zen is doing would not the diynamics of the site be totally different? I hope I have not offended anyone with my thoughts because again I love this site, the people that post and the lovely lady Zenyatta herself.

Dear Kennedy’s in San Diego:
Thank you so much for that sweet story about Mario and Z’s great bond. Thank you for sharing and please continue to share any stories that you have about Z. I think they both still miss each other very much. Hugs, J.B.

@The Kennedys in San Diego:
Thank you so very much for sharing such a special moment between Mario and Zenyatta this is the kind of information I like to see and what we need more of. This is what will bring people back to the site over and over again. And what us “Old Timers” have been hungry for. Blessings on you.

Dear Cynthia H.:
You’re welcome. Guess it was a really hard one to lose, understandably, sooo close. Hugs, J.B

Dear Terry Crow:
Funny, funny. Thanks. You’re probably right about Let It Ride. I hope Deborah enjoys it, though. Hugs, J.B.
Max
@Charlotte Farmer. I agree with you.
Trina Nagele
Of course Z should be inducted into the Hall of Fame as soon as she is eligible. Lest we forget, there is another place where Z should be honored— as Dani pointed out back on Jan 31, her hoofprints should be on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Go, Zenyatta!
Kathy Kimber
@Judy BeBrube:
Mario understands, Zenyatta does not. Because she is one of many, many broodmares at Lanes End she is not getting the TLC she got from John or Mario or the others at Barn 55. So lets not assume that she understands. I’m not slamming Lane’s End or anyone there but this is what happens at all the farms this is business and this is how it is conducted and it breaks my heart.

Dear Barbara:
That must have been beautiful at your wedding. One of my favorites too. I’m married 34 years, so we fit right in as Z’s Dumplings. Hugs, J.B.
judy berube
Dear Kathy Kimber:
Don’t be upset, please. I think that the people at Lane’s End are attached to Z. Who wouldn’t be after being around her. It’s just, I meant, I think that she will always remember Mario and of course, he will never forget the bond he had with her. For her to whinny when she heard his voice, tells you how connected they were. Maybe some day she’ll be able to retire back in California and they can see each other again. Hugs, J.B.

KETA- really appreciated your post. Hope you will share with us more frequently.
