Happy Friday,
Today is a very memorable day in our industry. The CLASS of 2011 is being inducted into the Hall of Fame which is located at the National Museum of Racing in Saratoga Springs, New York.
The induction ceremonies will be shown this morning on HRTV. They are taking place at 10:30 Eastern Time in the Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion. Bobby Flay is hosting the presentation along with broadcaster, Randy Moss. The festivities are open to the public.
Congratulations to all of the 2011 inductees:
Jerry Hollendorfer and Matthew Byrnes, Trainers
Shelby “Pike” Barnes, a Jockey who starred in the 1880’s
Duke of Magenta, Open Mind, Safely Kept, and Sky Beauty, Horses
Sarah was so sweet and took some other photos for us to share of the Museum. I hope you enjoy them.
I wanted to show you ROBERT FRANKEL’S plaque on the wall…as Dottie actually wrote the script for it for Bobby.
Have a wonderful weekend! Enjoy all of the fabulous racing taking place around the country during the next few days and HAVE FUN!
Perhaps we’ll see some future Hall of Famers in action and running this weekend! HOOVES CROSSED!
With Love,
Hugs to All~ (Congratulations to HOF Class of 2011)

Oh sweet Jesus, I am so lucky and fortunate to be able to come back here to your diary Zenyatta. I have been so sick and didn’t think I was going to make it. I kept thinking that I had to get well and that I so much wanted to read your diary. I am so lucky to be able to even be here and am glad that you are doing so well. Thoughts of you helped me get through my sickness. I am so ever thankful for you being a part of my life and for living in my heart. You keep on shining and sparkling brighter than any star up above. I love you oh so very much! I send my love and blessings to you and your little unborn sweetie!

@ALL~ This last week has been a very emotional and trying time and I wanted to share it with you because I know how powerful Zen Nation is….My son and his wife are expecting their first baby (girl) on October 21st. (Mommy is very tiny, about 100 lbs) We all spent 5 days last week at a family reunion/camping trip, with family from 3 different states. A good time was had by all… The day after returning home, my daughter-in-law went in for her 2 week check-up. (She is at 29 weeks) The Dr discovered that she was in pre-term labor, was dilated to 1 and her cervix had thinned. Apparently, she had been having contractions for a week or so, but didn’t realize what they were…They immediately put her in the hopsital on complete bed rest and tried to get the contractions to stop. Baby is about 2 lbs. 14 oz. She needs to stay in Mommy! They gave Mommy steroid shots to help develope Baby’s lungs, just in case. Mommy stayed in hospital for 3 days, but got to come home on Thursday, although contractions continue. Of course, she is on complete bed rest, only to get up to use the bathroom. She also has to take a pill every 6 hours to try to keep the contractions at bay. If at anytime she has 5 or more contractions in an hour, she will be whisked back to the hospital.
I am asking that Zen Nation please say a prayer for this precious child, that she will stay in the safest place for her so that she can grow a little more.
Thank you My Friends~

@LouAnn: So very glad you are returning to health! Wonderful to see you able to be here with all of us again.
@Judy Berube: Thank you so much for standing in for DJ. I was definately not going to be able to pull that off and you picked one of my favorites. One doesn’t have to be religious to want to abide by those thoughts.
@Judy again: Wow on Uncle Mo! Loved the buck and laughed at the sound of a zillion cameras going off as he booted past the line! Can’t wait for the King’s Bishop!

@Baby Bumps ………………………….08-13-11 (12:17 pm est.)
.
At Saratoga today we have three boy bumps to choose from at three different distances, race 2, race 6, and race 7. There is a 40K State Bred and two 50K Specials. I hope a big horse shows himself in one of these races, maybe more then one, this could be a special year for racing. I think we will play to win in the State Bred and play a 2×2 Baby Double in the two Specials. We get two races for the price of one. At Del Mar there are two toddlers too. Those terrible two’s, LOL. They are both 63K Specials. The boys go first in race 4, and the State Bred Filly’s go in the 9th at a furlong less. We will play a boy to win and a baby bump box for the gals.
.
SARATOGA –
Race 2 – $10.00 to WIN on #3 “The Prize Fighter”. (Pass if odds are below 2-1)
.
Race 6 &7 – Race 6 #2 “Clip The Coupons” & #4 “How Do I Win”. Race 7 #6 “Eben Alsafa” & #8 “Patrice Merion”
.
$2.00 Daily Double 2, 4 // 6, 8 = $8.00
.
DEL MAR –
Race 4 – $10.00 to WIN on #3 “Hodge”. (Pass if odds are below 2-1)
.
Race 9 – #1 “Starlight Magic”, #6 “War Excess”, & #7 “Too Sharp”

@Zenny & Team Z & Extended Family and Friends: A lot of special to the heart horses running this weekend. As always, my first wish is for safe trips and no injuries. My next wish is for all of YOUR John’s horses to win and/or the Moss horses to win. And I’m always up for dead heats when two friends are in the same race!

The Kennedys in San Diego
We visited Take Control ( by A P Indy out of Azeri) for the first time this week. He is back in training with Bob Baffert and had some recent timed works. Spent some time talking with his owner who told us they hope to race him in the Oak Tree Meet. He is beautiful but has been plagued with shin problems. He can be aggressive unlike the gentle Azeri.
We also visited Eblouissante — what a gorgeous black filly with a sweet, sensible disposition. We have fallen in love with her. Spent some time reminiscing with Mario who was wrapping Harmonious’ legs. He always regales us with Zenyatta stories. Stopped by the Racing Office for the post position draw for Harmonious’ race.
And, of course, stopped by to see Blind Luck and feed her some carrots. She has been known to eat 20 pounds in a half hour. This is what I call a GREAT morning.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KARI BUSSELL. Sounds like you had a great day.

We will be rooting for Gio Ponti in the Arlington Million today. Safe trip to all.

Good morning Zetty,
I suppose by now you & your pals have had all your wild oats, haha, and maybe a couple of carrot muffins to go with that. And now you’re finishing off with a good helping of that Kentucky Blue Grass. Don’t forget the water, drink plenty.
Another one of my fav inspirationals is:
I expect to pass through this world but once;
any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show
to any fellow/creature,
let me do it now;
let me not defer
or neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.
This is in the spirit of you and your VIPs
Have a great cool & with shady aplenty day :) :) :)
Lucia
@Kimberly Potter: I will definately pray. You should know that it will be okay. I was born earlier than that when the technology for premi babies wasn’t that great..now I’m happily snow-skiing and running many miles. Please give Z’ Nation updates!

@Lou Ann–so glad you’re back and better! Sending Texas-size hugs and prayers for your complete recovery.
Kimberly Potter- ditto for you, your daughter-in-law, and sweet little one. The Zen nation is totally behind you on this one. Please keep us posted. We’re honored to be asked to pray for you all.
@judy berube–love the St. Francis prayer so much that we had it sung at our wedding 45 years ago. (That tells you how OLD I am–lol!). Thanks for posting it in DJ’s absence.

@Judy Berube and Cynthia H-Shoe was a great guy with a quirky sense of humor. Known as a practical joker in the jock’s room. He took the time to sign an autograph and have a conversation with a 15-year-old boy after being on Swaps for a workout. I miss him.@Keta-This is a good place. Welcome aboard. @Deborah Richman-Let it Ride can never live up to the hype that Judy Berube and I have given it. But, I hope you enjoy it. When you are able to quote the lines of dialogue, you know you have gone over the edge. @Karen Gogue-I’m sure JAG looks good in stripes. @Kimberly Potter-Nothing but good vibes from California straight to your daughter-in-law.@Trina Nagele-You may not mind being referred to as one of the “guys,” but you will never be mistaken for a guy. TO balance the books for the last joke, I offer this. I will post another later if a new thread is started.A funeral service is being held for a woman who has just passed away. At the end of the service, the pall bearers are carrying the casket out when they accidentally bump into a wall, jarring the casket. They hear a faint moan! They opened the casket and found that the woman is actually alive! She lived for ten more years and then dies. Once again, a ceremony is held, and at the end of it, the pall bearers are again carrying out the casket. As they carry the casket towards the door, the husband cries out “Be careful!!! Watch thar wall.!!!!!”
Terry Crow
It should be watch that wall
