Happy Friday,
Today is a very memorable day in our industry. The CLASS of 2011 is being inducted into the Hall of Fame which is located at the National Museum of Racing in Saratoga Springs, New York.
The induction ceremonies will be shown this morning on HRTV. They are taking place at 10:30 Eastern Time in the Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion. Bobby Flay is hosting the presentation along with broadcaster, Randy Moss. The festivities are open to the public.
Congratulations to all of the 2011 inductees:
Jerry Hollendorfer and Matthew Byrnes, Trainers
Shelby “Pike” Barnes, a Jockey who starred in the 1880’s
Duke of Magenta, Open Mind, Safely Kept, and Sky Beauty, Horses
Sarah was so sweet and took some other photos for us to share of the Museum. I hope you enjoy them.
I wanted to show you ROBERT FRANKEL’S plaque on the wall…as Dottie actually wrote the script for it for Bobby.
Have a wonderful weekend! Enjoy all of the fabulous racing taking place around the country during the next few days and HAVE FUN!
Perhaps we’ll see some future Hall of Famers in action and running this weekend! HOOVES CROSSED!
With Love,
Hugs to All~ (Congratulations to HOF Class of 2011)

Dear Sunny Boyd:
Very sad about Doing Great. She apparently had a heart attack while racing at Saratoga on Thursday last. RIP Doing Great. Hugs, J.B.

Just watched Classics on HRTV and they had
Top 10 SA Handicaps and they showed Noor
Winning the 1950 Big Cap. So good to see him
Racing. Number one SA handicap was Seabiscuts
Return and last start to win the Big Cap (1940)
What a great race.

@Judy B
Yes, I really like to watch the jockeys
Interact with horses, too. Treasure Beaches
Jockey was petting and playing with him.
When they get dumped it makes me feel
Better for all the dumps I’ve had. Horses dump
You sometimes when position etc is not correct
And the other times when you try, they help
You out. The best thing I have heard is that
The mistakes horses make are related to the human
Riders, which is so true. They are truely wonderful
Animals. TB will lay down their bodies for us so
It is important for us to take care of them.

I love reading everyone’s posts. I’ve learned so much about horses, rescue/rehabilitation,horseracing in general. I look forward to it everyday. Everyone has so much to offer from their own life experiences. And it is all because of our shared love of Zenyatta. Kennedy’s thanks for the Mario stories and tidbits about her half-sister E – Pure joy. Please post some pictures if you can find the time. Yes, every time I go to Del Mar I always think of the excitement generated by Z’s appearance. Her hoofprint will remain forever a part of horseracing history. She was something to see in person and I am forever grateful that I was able to see her in the paddock and race. Just to be such a small part of it still gives me goosebumps. I remember when Lisa sang her song, I just broke down and cried. It was a perfect rendition of what she meant to me and I’m sure others. I hope that she is sound asleep and I know she is loved and well-cared for. Blessings to all of you.
Thanks again Dottie for all your efforts and Sara @ LE.

Dear Signofthetimes:
That really was a long shot. Yes, what you say is so right. Horses are wonderful. They were there for us and we should be there for them. Hugs, J.B.

@Sunny Boyd—Jerry Moss’s birthday is May 8.

How about Mario’s birthday? Could a Z-ster ask him next time you see him? Thanks!

Dear Zenyatta, the Kennedy’s in San Diego were blessed to see Your Mario who told them some anecdotal stories about his experiences with you. It is a wonderful blessing for all of your friends, fans, dumplingz that the Kennedys brought those stories to us on Your site. We appreciate Sarah’s pictures of the HOF event since many of us are not able to get to such events, but because of You, Zenyatta, we are interested in learning about Your world of racing.
To judy berube and Donna, thank you for reporting the cite for the criteria and the criteria for eligibility to be nominated to the HOF.
To Eveline: To copy Trina’s birthday poems you put your cursor/pointer at the beginnning and hold down the left side of your mouse while scrolling across the part you want to copy. This should highlight it. Then at the top/left of the page click on Edit and click on copy. From your start button at the bottom/left of the page, click and open a word document. Put your cursor/pointer in the new page and using the right side of your mouse, click and click again choosing paste. The copied poem should appear on the page. Save this page to a place that you can easily find it again.
To: judy berube: Thank you for reminding us about St Francis of Assisi’s prayer to be an instrument for good.
To Sunnu Boyd: Thank you for sharing an inspirational verse.
To Kimberly Potter: I’ll keep your grandchild and your family in my prayers.
To Lou Ann Cingel: I’m so glad you are recovering and I’ll pray that you get better and better every day.
To Terry C: Thank you for more great mood lighteners and the stories about Shoe.
To Gary M: I am really interested in your epic verses. Is there a possibility of a preview verse sometime?
To the Kennedys: Thank you for sharing Zenyatta stories from Mario!
To all: I wish I had some real life Zenyatta experiences to share, but I’ll just share my love for Zenyatta, Little Z, Team Z, LE Team, Z’s friends, fans and Dumplingz. It’s the nearest I will be able to “stand in her presence.” I do not mourn that; I am realist enough to know that not all of us that love Zenyatta can stand near her, actually touch her, or talk to anyone who has taken care of her. That does not diminish our love for her. Nor would we want to get in the way of others who have had real experiences with her. I do think that in getting to know about Zenyatta, she has influenced many to do good things and be better people. She has stirred an interest in people like me to find out more about horses, racing, the world of horse racing, and about the broader world of horses. We just thought we loved horses before. Sweet dreams Zenyatta and all y’all. :)

@All: My soap box for the night – I cringe when name calling erupts here. And I for one enjoy all the interplay, information, news, action items for rescues and the common good, and the feel of family, whether there is a new photo of Z and/or information directly about her each day or not. There has been a lot of info about her daily routine and the people who care for her on many of the previous posts. For me, coming here is like having Sunday dinner in the old days – everyone there sharing, not always on topic. I also enjoy the whimsy. My “real” life is a bureaucratic quagmire. Coming here is cheap therapy.

Dearest Zenny, Sleep tight till the morning light.
@DMCQ—Thanks for explaining how to copy and paste to Eveline. Maybe you know how one can copy something from Z’s webpage and paste it into a WORD document without the black background? It would save on ink to be able to print it out in black type on a white background. I haven’t figured that one out yet (see, I’m not really techno-savvy after all!). Does anyone know how to do this?
@Eveline and anyone else who might be interested—Thank you for your interest in the poem(s). If you like, you can e-mail your snail-mail address to me at trinambn@yahoo.com, and I would be more than happy to send you a hard copy in the US mail, or I can also e-mail you the text the way I originally wrote it: in black type on a white background. Thanks again for your interest!

Zennie, I was rooting for Gio Ponti to win the Arlington Million. Well, he tried so hard. I think he was trapped inside too long and was not able to come out soon enough to catch the winner. Congratulations to the Hall of Fame Class of 2011. I can hardly wait the day you will be inducted to the HOF. I love you Queen Z!

@judy berube–thanks for the explanation about Doing Great. I couldn’t find any info. So tragic. RIP.
@Diana S– so well put. What did we ever do before we all found each other? And we have Dottie to thank for that.

@ Judy Berube thank you :)
@ Barbara Wood Thank you and I agree.
@ Kim S Thank you.
@ Abigal I loved your post. I for one feel so blessed by all of you. Everyone on this site adds so much to MY life and I get such enjoyment, education and just plain fun from reading the posts. I think Zenny and our special Dottie is happy that we have all connected to each other. We are one big Z family :)

@Trina Negele:
This is the last time I am going to address this issue. I am not having a bad day nor am I tired with the plans for the upcoming trip. If you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen. To quote Harry Truman the buck stops here. By that I mean there are issues here that need to be addressed.
one= the site cannot continue to keep going with information that is sketchy at best as to what is going on with Zenyatta.
In you think this site will be here three years from now then good luck.
As Cynthia pointed out all good things do eventually come to an end. I believe Cyhthia was more constructive in her dialogue than you have been in yours. Zenyatta is a broodmare and that is what she will be untill the day she is pensioned. It is up to Dottie and the Mosses to decide where they see this site 300 posts down the road.
You have to have a plan for a web-site and the direction you want to take it. Which means they would have to go back to the drawing board and make decisions on where they see this site at the end of 2012 since, again, we are only getting sketchy information.
Charlotte Farmer
Continued: I am sure that there are things going on behind the scenes none of us can know of. In answer to Cynthia, who I am in total agreement with, we offer solutions.
One: Maybe a webo-cam could be set up to where we could have access to Zenyatta.
Since she had a special paddock built for her by the Mosses.
Two: Z’s family at Barn 55, I am interested in knowing more about them because that ties in with Zenyatta.
Three: We have people in racing who Zenyatta could interview and talk about her days on the track and how they felt when they saw her race. i.e. Lafitte Pincay, Gary Stevens, her most ardent fan Chris McCarron.
Three:Penny Chenery understands how easely people forget because of Big Red have Zenyatta talk to her and talk about the days he was on the track. and her thoughts on when Zenyatta raced.
Four:Z could talk Ebby which again ties it in with Zeny.
Five: Talk to the backside and ask how they feel, where were you at at her most important races. What were you doing at that moment what were you thinking about.
Six: Have Zeny talk about, could she in our lifetime the possibility of another Secratariat, another Zenyatta.
This is just a handful of suggestions but I am sure that Dottie being the incrediable intelligent lady I know she is proably has a lot more spots on the subject and maybe with our help from the web-site can keep this site from ending up in the dusy pages of cyber-space.
Trina never presume to think you know what is going on with me for I have left bread crumbs a half mile wide and ten miles long on something so fantacticly new on Zenyatta and yet no one has asked what it is. The reason you haven’t asked

A beautiful Sunday kind of good morning to you, Queen Z. I hope you enjoyed the sunrise and the morning hush. I hope you and Tasty T have a serene and leisurely chomp in the nourishing blue grass today. And more, I hope Baby Z, snuggled inside, is thriving nicely.
I want you to know that every sliver of information we receive about you, your personality, and how you are doing is cherished beyond measure. Thanks to the Kennedys in San Diego for sharing with us tales about you from your beloved Mario, who felt your heart day in and day out throughout your racing career. I’m sure you know that all of us would give anything to have stood by his side all that time, next to you.
Some of us are concerned that there is no longer enough information about and focus on you on this website and that others may be turned away by the diverging paths and tangents we pursue in our communications here. I’m not so concerned, because no matter where we go, you are our lodestar, our inspiration, our guiding presence.
It is your obvious kindness and generosity (through the Mosses and Shirreffs) with your charitable projects, Moneighs and auctions, that inspire us to support rescues, seek protection for wild horses, contribute to Old Friends and other racehorse retirement communities, and crusade to find homes, rather than slaughter, for less fortunate former racers. Had I not come to this site I would not have known about Charlotte Farmer and Noor, and his final journey home. Had I not come to this site, I would not have found The Cloud Foundation and other resources dedicated to the protection and preservation of your wild brethren. Had I not come to this site, I would not have felt the relieve – and joy – of supporting a successful rescue.
Zenyatta, your extraordinary career and glorious personality have drawn me and others to get to know and cherish other racehorses, active and retired. Without this site I may not have found Abigail from Montreal’s wonderful histories and studies in The Vault of our equine heroes and heroines past and present. Without this site I, on my own, would not have found all the rich links to all that is going on in the racing world, nor would I have absorbed such a wealth of information about how it all works.
And finally Zenny, your dancing soul and feet, your gentle and loving nature, confirmed by all that have known you, inspires and encourages us, who share this site with you, to care for and encourage each other, to share joy and sometimes pain, to relish humor and prayer – in short, to interact with each other in your honor and spirit.
I think your spirit infuses this site daily and we cannot thank Dottie enough for channeling that spirit – the pitch perfect voice of Queen Z.
We all love you so.
suew
Zenny, tell your Dottie that I cannot thank her enough for everything she does for us. @Charlotte Farmer, I recall a post some ways back in which Zenny told us there would be some changes to this site. With Zenny being part of the 2011 Breeder’s Cup marketing plan I expect a “new look” to be unveiled this fall. I commend Dottie on giving us lessons on the sport of horseracing through these pictures and posts. Very recently we did get new photos of Z so I expect more of the same is coming. This is the heart of the racing season … I am just grateful the Diary is still on the front burner. We are blessed.

@Charlotte Farmer: What is it? I would like to know.

Continued: Trinia the nice thing would have been for you to have called me because you have my phone numberbut you choose Z’s site so that is why I am responding on Z’z site. Yes it is a democracy as I have said in prior posts and everyone is entitlled to their opinion and thank you Cynthia once again for reminding me to offer a solution if possible. We have two posts earlier who offered stories on Zen that many of us had never heard before those are the kind of things that need to be on this site.
While we talk about other things than Zenyatta which is fine we need to be mindful that when we come to her site, which is a courtesty provided by the Mosses and Shirreffs that we keep as much of the dialog as possible on Z. I am sure Triana you must have numerous stories you could share with us about your time at the track and watching her and everyone else out there could share those kind of stories I don’t think that is asking to much.
I know at some point like all good things she will cross over into the history books joining my beloved Kelso, the mighty Secratariat the beloved John Henry and others. But as long as we retel her stories she remains with us and she stays alive on this site. The key is retelling her stories as Penny Chenry is retelling Secratariats. I will not revisit this dialog.
To the fair lady Zenyatta I will always love you and I will always champion and cause that you are promoting and I will share your stories with anyone who will listen

@ judy berube – It is a tuff game but it’s like hitting a nice golf shot, when you hit one it keeps you coming back. They are almost all strange days, it is a real chalky day when they all run true to form. Keep plugging and don’t invest too much. Those $100 horses don’t come around every day, LOL, GOOD LUCK TODAY

@ME – This is one of the reasons I want to write and why I believe I have so much horse in me. – I was born in 1954, the “Year of the Horse”, 马年, also the same year “Bold Ruler” was born, and the same year “Federico Tesio” died. About 70% of all Thoroughbreds running today have blood running through their veins from horses that Tesio bred. “Bold Ruler” and “Federico Tesio” were two of the greatest influences on the modern Thoroughbreds of 20th century and today. “Zenyatta” has “Ribot” on both sides. “Bold Ruler” was the leading sire for 7 straight years. My Mother was born in 1923, the year “ZEV” won the Kentucky Derby. “Zev” also won one of most significant match races in thoroughbred racing history. “Zev” beat Epsom Derby winner “Papyrus” and that marked the first time a Kentucky Derby winner defeated an English Derby winner. Also my Mom was born in the same month and on the same day as Ruffian (Apr. 17th). Seventeen is a significant number in the Bible. 17 is a prime number and seventh in the list of the prime numbers. Seventeen is the combination or sum of two perfect numbers—seven and ten—seven being the number of spiritual perfection, and ten of ordinal perfection. SEVEN is the most common number found in the Bible, over 500 times. Listing all the occurrences would take several pages. Just being here at St. Z’s site and “Zev” evokes those two numbers, but also Z was born on the 1st and GOD is #1 in my mind, and I like to think that HIS number would be 7 if he has a number. The meaning of my name “Moulton” is “from the mule farm” and the byname Mūla = ‘mule’ + tūn = ‘enclosure’, basically means “a pen where Mules are kept or Mule Pen”. I’ve traced my Sire line back to the 12th century to Moulton Village, Suffolk England, and to Moulton Paddocks in Newmarket. I find all these things a strange coincidence in my mind but I believe all things happen for a reason and I have a lot of strong reasons for my love of horses.
