Good Morning,
A great deal of excitement took place again last evening at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling Sale. MY BERNIE had another successful evening with colts he sired selling for $1,200,000….750,000….725,000. He sired a filly which sold for $500,000. Things are truly looking terrific for MY GUY!
Earlier in the day during training hours, Uncle Mo breezed on the Oklahoma Training Track. Saratoga has 2 really nice tracks for the horses to train on each day: the main track and then the Oklahoma Training Track which is very close to the barn area.
In the above photo, Uncle Mo is going out for this breeze. From all reports, he really looked terrific going the 5 furlongs in a ‘bullet’ 100.22. A ‘bullet’, in reference to workout times, means it is the fastest recorded time that morning for a particular distance.
Mo’s camp feels he is really making wonderful progress in his training. It is quite exciting as he looks to be on target to run in The King’s Bishop… August 27th. Hooves crossed for Uncle Mo! Keep up the great work!
On another note, today is the birthday of 2 members of MY TEAM: Dottie and Mikie Smith. I think this is just TOO CUTE that they are both LEOS and born on August 10th.
My warmest wishes for them both to have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dear Dottie:
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday! I hope your special day was filled with nice and fun surprises. Dottie, as I am sure you already know, all of us really enjoy and look forward to visiting this site every day! All of us also realize the thought and work that YOU put into keeping Zenny’s site fresh each day with new and interesting stories. Zenny is a tough act to follow and being her voice is no easy job. I don’t know how you do it. But we want you to know that we REALLY APPRECIATE your dedication! Zenyatta had a tremendous impact on the horseracing industry; and, I feel that Zenyatta.com has continued those efforts with helping to make an impact on the lives of those of us who visit her site regularly. Because to come to Zenyatta’s site is to experience sheer JOY! So, as Trina put it so well–with so much gratitude, I lift a stein of good lager and toast your birthday! Wishing you many, many more to come.

Dear Kathryn Cogswell:
Thank you for that video on Trott California. I wish Matt was able to give the address for donations. We need more exposure like that. Did you see the beautiful photo of the baby Cheetah in the right hand margin before you click on the vid? So cute. Hugs, J.B.

Dear Kennedys in San Diego:
The very last paragraph in this May 2011 article from DRF makes reference to the injury Arienza suffered. Hopefully she is recovered by now and we’ll be seeing her again. Haven’t seen any works posted though. Hugs, J.B. http://www.drf.com/news/arlington-park-itinerant-trainer-lands-chicago

@Trina N-Nothing can be added to perfection. @Sharon Call-I think you will find that racetracks have been built and financed by private capital. IT is an investment decision like any other. OK, That is the heartless way to look at it and horse racing IS an industry with a heart. Hopefully, somebody will come up with the money or convince a group so that racing can happen in Georgia. @Molly and Judy Berube-It is too bad there was no Charlotte Farmer when Omaha’s remains were treated so badly.

Dear Mike:
Happy Birthday to you!!! Wishing you all the best today and always! You and Zenyatta gave us so much and we will never forget it!! What a team the two of you were out on that track. I sure wish we could have a repeat of those years! How exciting it all was! Keep safe and be well! Happy Birthday!

@DJ-A horse joke in honor of Dottie and Mike’s birthdays.-A woman went to a psychiatrist and said she was in great distress over her husband. “He thinks he’s a horse. He sleeps standing up and he neighs instead of speaking. He even insists on being fed oats in a bag,” said the woman. “How long has this been going on?” said the doctor. “Six, maybe eight months,” she replied. “You have let things go too far,” said the doctor. “Your husband will require a great deal of treatment and it will be very expensive. Can you afford the cost of the treatment, which figures to be many thousands of dollars.””Why of course we can,” said the woman. He’s already won three races this season at Belmont Park.”

Happy Birthday Dottie and Mikie!!!! Also, congrats Mikie for winning the battle of the exes!!!!! I was soooooooo happy that you won.

@Molly – There is a way to determine where Omaha is at but it would take someone who has the passion to do the research. You begin with combing through the newspaper accounts of the burial and the placement of the statue. Then you check and see if there are any aerial shots for that time period. You would also check with the planning department and see if there had been any mention of the burial on the records at the property began to be developed. If it can be determine that a building or some other structure had not been place over the general location, then you go in with ground penetrating radar, which will show any anomalies below the ground. Those are the beginning steps.
Nothing is ever truly lost. It just takes someone to begin the search. I wish I lived there because Omaha is worth the effort. Just imagine if this was 50 years in the future and someone, without even thinking, moves a statue of a horse that was placed above the grave of that horse and no one spoke up to say, “Wait a minute, I don’t think so,” and that horse was Zenyatta.
Most of us here would have past on by then, so the voices would be few and far between. That is why it is soooo important to preserve and protect these horses from future development.
I have done the best I could for *Noor but that is not to say something like that couldn’t happen even at Old Friends. If Michael does not have a deed restriction or conservation easement to protect the hollow grounds where these magnificent animals sleep then who knows what fate awaits them. No one lives forever not even Michael Blowen so I can only hope that he has had the vision to secure all that he has worked for. Not even Samuel Riddle, Charles S. Howard, or Allaire du Pont could have foreseen what would happen once they were gone.
I was asked just recently why have you worked so hard on *Noor’s behalf? My answer was, people buy airline tickets to go to Europe everyday to see history because over there they know that history sells, people want to see it, and yes they are older than us. Here in America, if you have the money, you can pretty much develop until your hearts content and God forbid if there is something historic in nature in your way. We are a young country, rich in history but don’t blink because that history is slowly being eroded away i.e. Gettysburg. The Immortals have their place in racing history and are deserving of our respect and protection. They count on us and as good stewards to be there for them with our voices ready to step in.

@BABY RESULTS – 08-10-11
.
SARATOGA –
Race 2 – “I’d Lie” won the race but the other two didn’t show up. The time wasn’t very good. There were two scratches in this race bringing the field down to 7 so if I was playing for real, I would have passed. They finished 1st, 4th, & last. -$6.00
.
Race 4 – WINNER – “Vexor” took’em end to end and the time was a second and a half faster then the girls in the 2nd. “Vexor” paid $8.20 x 5 = $41.00 – $10.00 = +$31.00
.
DEL MAR –
Race 2 – “Chilling Command” went off the favorite at 8/5 so I passed this one. Time for the winner was just average. VOID BET
.
Race 8 – “A Toe by Three” was scratched so we had to stick with the rules and pass the race. I can’t get the scratches for the west coast early enough. “Cast a Doubt” had the lead into deep stretch and looked strong and held 3rd. “Tale Be Told” came on at the end and made a race of it, but couldn’t get to the winner and placed. There were four horses within a ½ a length or so at the line. The time was good. I passed because of the scratch but Granny doesn’t follow those rules. She cashed two tickets in this race and four tickets for the day. Show me the cookie jar. VOID BET
.
Won $41.00 -$16.00 bet = +$25.00 for today +$305.20 Starting out tomorrow.

Praying for the rain to stop on the west coast of central Florida and trying to get it sent to Texas.
Great reading today, as is every day.

Very nice post – indeed history SHOULD be protected and preserved. Once gone it never comes back, never to be remembered when…it returns only when the thoughts bring us there…thank you for the lovely post ‘my lady’ of history gone…

Happy Birthday Dottie & Mike. I hope you both have wonderful Birthday’s and many many more. Especially to you Dottie your just the best and Thank you for everything you do.
Your information on the sales yesterday was just so wonderful. I am going down to the Ocala sales in a couple of weeks and I am looking so forward to it. It is not far from me. The sales just bring back such wonderful childhood memories for me. I have Zenyatta’s sales video saved to my computer. Those yearlings are just so beautiful and you fall in love with all of them. Oh my, Keeneland’s sales is coming up soon too. I am going to watch it on streaming video. Sept llth I believe. I hope next year to get up to that sale.
Congratulations to Santa Anita for next years Breeders Cup.
I also hope the Jockey that was dismounted from the last race at Del Mar is ok everyone if you know keep us posted. Last I heard they were concerned about his wrist. I have had a broken wrist and it is no fun.
To Especially Zenyatta and everyone have a wonderful evening. Love ya Zenny. Peggy

@Dottie or does anyone know. Do the Mayberry’s at Ocala allow visitors to their training Center.

@Terry Crow–forgotten that I hadn’t read your joke from 315 :) so the man I requested was from post 316. Unless, they are one and the same, then the race winner could be toothless LOL

Z….I just listened to “Zenyatta” by Liza G. Fly….I have listened to that four times today and every time I get chills. I keep it on my favorites so I can listen to it often …if I am feeling down…I play that and for some reason…that perks me up. You have that affect on people. There will never be another one like you!! Hugs to you Z….
