Good Morning,
A great deal of excitement took place again last evening at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling Sale. MY BERNIE had another successful evening with colts he sired selling for $1,200,000….750,000….725,000. He sired a filly which sold for $500,000. Things are truly looking terrific for MY GUY!
Earlier in the day during training hours, Uncle Mo breezed on the Oklahoma Training Track. Saratoga has 2 really nice tracks for the horses to train on each day: the main track and then the Oklahoma Training Track which is very close to the barn area.
In the above photo, Uncle Mo is going out for this breeze. From all reports, he really looked terrific going the 5 furlongs in a ‘bullet’ 100.22. A ‘bullet’, in reference to workout times, means it is the fastest recorded time that morning for a particular distance.
Mo’s camp feels he is really making wonderful progress in his training. It is quite exciting as he looks to be on target to run in The King’s Bishop… August 27th. Hooves crossed for Uncle Mo! Keep up the great work!
On another note, today is the birthday of 2 members of MY TEAM: Dottie and Mikie Smith. I think this is just TOO CUTE that they are both LEOS and born on August 10th.
My warmest wishes for them both to have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Good morning beautiful Zenyatta, Dottie, the past and current Z Team, Zs Dumplings and friends,
It has been raining every day for several days and yesterday it came down in buckets! I wish we could share some with Texas. Mostly it has not left us cooler, but last night it was cooler. What a profound relief! I hope You are staying cool and that all is well with You, little Z and Your friends. I am so happy that Uncle Mo is recovered and training.
@JAG: Happy Birthday!I’m hoping you have a most marvelous day of memory making! You should keep the celebration going for as long as possible.
@Mike Smith: A belated Happy Birthday to you! Best wishes for a great year.
@the farm planners and dreamers: I can mow and I can weed. I make jelly from the wild blackberries and jam from my blueberries…I drink my champaign brut..Is there an invitation for a faily new Dumpling?? :)
@DJ: I am thinking that the vision you have of McDude taking me for walks may not be accurate…not as calm or stately as it may sound. He is sticking his head into bushes or digging. We replace the “divits” just like the golfers do. I may decide to skip,or gallop or try a somersault. It can all happen while I’m doing gratitudes in my heart. :)
@Jane Wade:Congratulations on your 38th anniversary with James!
@Barbara Wood:I wish I knew how to post a picture of McDude. He is sooo loved as I see it; so spoiled as my husband sees it. :)
@Trina: Many thanks for a verse to make us smile.
@Charlotte: Thanks for your thoughts on our responsibility to be the keepers of history for the next generations. I so agree with you. Also, thanks for sharing your knowledge about finding information and tracing the path of history.
@Sarah:So glad to see you!
@Barbara Grimaldi:I hope you find out that the Travers sells tickets to the standers at the rail! You so deserve a pleasure pause!
Signofthetimes: Thank you for sharing your knowledge and information about connections and owners.
@all: It’s hot and getting hotter. I’m off to mow, but I intend to check back for my jokes and smiles and to see what everyone’s up to. Hope everyone has an excellent day!
Cynthia H.
Hope your birthday yesterday was super-special, Dottie! You can tell by all of the comments here and everywhere in cyberspace that you are welll-loved!
@judy berube: You opinion is always welcome and valued—jump right in with your ideas anytime for the Dumpling Stable (motto: “Don’t Dump on Us!”) If one of us wins the super-lotto, maybe we can try for our own Zenyatta-Bernardinin baby. How about the name BERNING TO DANZE?
@Brenda S: Our Mikey would look “too cute” in any color! Kari would like blue, and a Dumpling insginia on the back. I would like a “12” to be somewhere on the silks a (highly significant number to the two founding partners). Laura J kindly posted a Keeneland sales catalogue link in the previous diary, so we can begin purusing our choices now!
@Deborah Richman: Dumpling Equine Enterprises (DEE)—love it! You’re in! We will definitely need your barn cat wrangling services!
Karen Gogue: If you garden as well as you write, you will have our barn area looking like Kew Gardens!
signof thetimes: You and Kar B. may have to have a wrestling match over the colors of the silks (don’t forget to wear your fascinators). She may prefer blue with hot pink bow-tie. I will play referee (have to warn—she is a lioness in the ring!).
Charlotte Farmer: I think you and your words (not to mention your deeds) are totally awesome! And I love what you wrote about Medaglia d’Oro—my dream match for Zenyatta!
Anne from Paramount: Oh, wow! Thank you so much (blush blush).
Go out and make it a great day, everyone!

@farm planners and dreamers: that would be fairly new Dumpling…Oh, BTW, I like to walk and could walk the 4 legged ones.

P.S. Please forgive all of the typos and grammatical errors. Eyes and brain do not function well before 10:00 (and not all that well after, either).

Pam Zacek,
Happy Birthday to Dottie and Mike, hope they have a great day, and I agree, thank you Dottie, for Zenyetta voice, and this special diary. Im with alot of others on this one, it makes my day, Love horse, and loved to watch racing, now I like it even more, because of you, and the team, and caring more for the horse, and may, you have the next beautiful colt or filly, from Zenyetta.. she so beautiful, if you look at the two pictures of Zenyetta and Secretarit I swear, there both look alikes, except for the color, and they both look so inteligent, no quinesse for Zenyetta yet, as she is pregnant, but after, she gets good big old bottle, for you and Mikes birthday, have a great day.
Barbara Wood
@Cynthia H.–I am literally shaking with laughter at the “Don’t Dump on Us” motto!

@JAG, if your BD is 10/8, why do folks think it is today? I know there is not another JAG here, but there are so many posts for the Queen, I get it. BTW I’m 9/7, hehehe

Happy birthday Dottie and Mike!! I’ve been on vacation for a few days, Zenny, so I’m sorry my birthday wishes to Dottie and Mike are late. I hope they both had a great birthday!
I would also like to thank Dottie for everything that she does to keep all of us connected to our beloved Zenyatta. Dottie, you are an angel, and all your hard work is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the update on Mo. I’m happy he’s doing so well.
Love to all,

JAG, just the greetings, not the turning of the age…LOL, that explains it, reverse, I thinking, oMgoodness, I missed something, somewhere, somehow. Lisa g

@Baby Plays for Today /////////////////////////////////// 08-11-11 (12:33 pm est.)

There are two at the Spa, race 5 and race 9. There is one 7 horse field and one 8 horse field at Saratoga. We will box both but if there are any scratches we will pass. We should play “Speightscity” to win in the 9th if he stays above 2-1, but it’s an all baby box day. Pletcher won’t win race 9 at Saratoga only because he doesn’t have a horse in the race. At Del Mar there are two races too, race 5 and race 8. Same deal as the Spa, we will box. There you go Z, the four month bump box, 4 Baby Bump Boxes Today. Pray for a fast track and no scratches.

@Charlotte Farmer-If Omaha had a champion like you, he would be buried at the state capital in Nebraska. @KIm S-Maybe it is the same guy after he went to get his teeth. @Brenda S, Judy Berube, Deborah Richman, signofthetimes, Anne from Paramount and Barbara Wood-glad you enjoyed the joke.@Cynthia H-If signofthetimes and Kari B have a wrestling match we will need JAG to referee in her prison uniform. @Kari Bussell-Have a good day tomorrow. Today’s joke-if another thread is started I will post later–a 85 tear old couple, having been married almost 60 years, die in a car crash. They had been in good health the last ten years, mainly due to the wife’s interest in health food. When they reached the pearly gates, Saint Peter took them to their mansion, which was decked out with a beautiful kitchen, master bath suite and Jacuzzi. As they admired their new surroundings, the old man asked St. Peter how much this was going to cost. “It’s free,”, Peter replied, ” Peter replied. “Remember, this is heaven.” next they went out back to see the championship[ golf course the home backed up to. St. peter told them that they would have golfing privileges every day, and each week the course changed to a new one representing the great golf courses on earth. The old man asked “What are the green fees?” “This is heaven,” St. Peter replied, “you play for free.” Next they went to the clubhouse and saw the lavish buffet lunch with the cuisines of the world laid out. “How much to eat?” asked the old man. “Don’t you understand yet?” St. Peter asked. “This is heaven. It’s free!” “Well where are the low fat and low cholesterol foods?” the old man asked timidly. “That’s the best part,” St. Peter said.”You can eat as much as you like of whatever you like and you never get fat and you never get sick. This is heaven.” The old man looked at his wife and said “You and your darn bran muffins. I could have been here ten years ago.”

@Terry Crow. I know you’re right about private investors. I know the perfect place for a track – well almost perfect. It used to be Kenny Rogers estate not that far from Atlanta. It’s close to 1300 acres, has a 35 acre lake and several ponds, an air-conditioned barn, a track, the main house, two groups of guest houses, each with their own pool, an 18 hole golf course and who knows what else. The price is only $20 million. I’m really just kidding about it being the perfect place, way too much “stuff” on that property to put racing in, although it could be doable if a group was really motivated. What it would be perfect for is the Z farm that I’ve been reading about today on this page. What do you think, Dumplings? You wouldn’t have to put anything else on that property, it’s already there with plenty of room for everyone to visit whenever they wanted to. Heck, a bunch of Dumplings could live there if they wanted to. The “guest” houses are to die for. I’ll try to find a link to the estate so everyone can look at it and drool and dream.
