Good Morning,
I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend! My Team had a great deal of excitement in the Clement Hirsch-G1 again this year. ZAZU almost did it!
As you may know, this is a race I won 3 times in a row during my racing career. ZAZU ran in The Hirsch G-1 last Saturday at Del Mar…and closed strongly to just miss by a head. She cut to the rail at the top of the lane…and made a real race of it during the stretch run. ULTRA BLEND won closing on the outside.
I’d like to congratulate her connections. This G1 win was especially emotional for jockey, Tyler Baze. He has recently recovered from a very difficult injury…and this meant a great deal to him! Tyler, it is so great to see you back in action, healthy, and riding in top form again!
It was tremendous to see the other Grade 1 stakes races around the country. TIZWAY did a great job earning his victory in The Whitney and SEAN AVERY earned his win in a tight Vanderbilt finish! Other stakes racing over the weekend also provided lots of thrilling finishes. I hope your handicapping was very astute and proved to be quite LUCKY!
David is presently at Saratoga. The yearling sales action is now in full swing. Last month, Fasig Tipton started it all with their Kentucky July Sale. This evening, their Saratoga Yearling Sale is on center stage.
Lane’s End does have a consignment there. In the above photo, this yearling they are offering is being inspected for purchase by a veterinarian. That is just one of the stages involved when purchasing a yearling at auction. The ‘sales’ involve a great deal of homework and hard work…yet it is extremely energizing to anticipate the ‘future’.
Good luck to all involved with these horses and the sale.
If you’d like, you may watch the live feed of this auction on-line. It is intriguing to see how all of the action takes place in the sales ring.
Go to Fasig-Tipton.com….click on Fasig-Tipton TV….then go to LIVE AUCTION. This will give you the up-to-the-minute streaming. The Saratoga Yearling Sale begins tonight at 7 Eastern Time with Hip # 1…a Bernardini filly . Now….isn’t this TOO CUTE!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

PS…A HIGH HOOF to MY BERNIE. His foals had a very successful weekend of racing on both coasts!
LauraJ
@Barbara Wood, yes, it was Kiri and Awad that were rivals on the track. At one time they had them in parallel paddocks, and they weould race along the fence all the time. Eventually they moved them for their well being so that thewy were on a diagonal.

Dear Zenyatta Good morning. I hope you slept well last night. Have a great day with TT today. I hope you both get to graze and enjoy some sunshine. I am having a hard time dealing with what has happened to my brother. I found some things out yesterday and could not stop crying. I am better today. Life sometimes is hard but I do a lot of talking to God and thinking back on my trip to Kentucky. Being with all the horses makes me fel really good. I hope next week to see Brooke and Dusty. Once school starts I won’t get to check in as often. I am so busy planning. It just takes a lot of planning and I am the only social studies teacher for the entire 5th grade. I am a little nervous about that. Next week I have to start getting my room in order. I have to unpack and clean everything. Oh well here we go :) Well sweet girl enjoy your day. I am sending you many Hugs and Kisses, Shari XXXOOO
@ Dottie Happy Birthday!!!!!
Jan Doyle
Good Morning Zenyatta! Hope your day is starting off great with your friend TT. Thanks Dottie for letting us know how we can watch the yearling sale online. It was just like being there. Can’t wait until tonight. Hugs to all.

@Debbie G, for Vivian and beloved Winston..a prayer and candle lit. Winston seems to be suffering, since he cannot control his back legs…I will pray for Vivan’s decision to be sooner rather than later..it is such a difficult decision…but we love these “kids” of ours. I have had to make this decision 5 times in my life, and now I have Lucy..I got her knowing I would have to make the decison again..A new baby doesn’t replace the others…just another baby to love all over again…Lisa g

I only place wagers on Friday, and I welcome any tips!

@Barbara Grimaldi – Thank you and you’re welcome!!!
@LauraJ – Thank you for the info, when it comes to pedigrees I’m a total geek. It’s a passion of mine and it’s something that I’m working towards as a second career.
@Trina Nagele – Thank you for being so generous. My email request is on its way!!!

Dear Lisa g.:
What you say in your post is so true. Hugs, J.B.

@Sharon Call, Kathy Kimber and Kim S-Thanbk you. @Lil in KY-So good to see you posting again. A lot of people on the site were worried. @Deborah G-I remember when my old hound lost the use of her back legs. She weighed about 60 pounds and I use to grumble about carrying her up the stairs. Now I only wish I could just one more time. @Kathryn Cogswell-Patton’s event in the Olympics was the modern penthathalon, an event which combines shooting and riding. At least it did. Hasn’t been in the games for quite some time. @Charlotte Farmer-Here’s one you might enjoy. As I have said before, my late sister-in-law went to high school with Elvis. Elvis had sort of retired out here in California and I was able to take my nephews out to see him at his Bel-Aie estate. I wasn’t on the ride, so I am telling this second-hand. My nephews, Elvis and some of his entourage were riding in one of Elvis’ vehicles when they spotted an attractive woman walking along. Elvis told the driver to stop and go over to the young woman and tell her that Elvis wanted to meet her. The encounter was seen by all, including the driver pointing to the car. The young woman then gave everybody the digital salute. When the driver got back he related her as saying “Elvis? Yeah, right.” According to my nephews, he laughed all the way home because he knew that would be her reaction. When I think about it, it makes sense. Would you believe that Elvis was in that car? @Karen Gogue-Some day when old horseplayers are sitting around and talking, Zenyatta will be the number one topic of conversation. I will be honored to say I saw her run in person. Here is today’s joke–Three guys dies together in a terrible accident. Fortunately, they went to heaven. Saint Peter said “We only have one rule here. Don’t step on the ducks as they are God’s favorite creation.” They enter heaven and see ducks everywhere. The first guy accidentally steps on one, and soon here comes St. Peter with the ugliest animal you’ve ever seen. St. Peter chains them together and says “Your punishment is to be chained to this ugly creature forever.” The next day the second guy steps on a duck and the same thing happens. Seeing this, the third guy is very, very careful. He goes for months and doesn’t step on any ducks. Then one day, St. peter comes along with a beautiful woman, very young and very sexy. He chains them together and leaves without saying a word. The man then says “Wow! This is great. I wonder what I did to deserve this?” The woman says “I don’t know about you, but I stepped on a duck.”

For those who would like to share a Morning Prayer/Hymn:
…………………………………..
Morning has broken
Like the first morning,
Blackbird has spoken
Like the first bird.
Praise for the singing!
Praise for the morning!
Praise for them springing
Fresh from the Lord!
Sweet the rains new fall
Sunlit from heaven,
Like the first dew fall
On the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness
Of the wet garden,
Sprung in completeness
Where first feet pass.
Mine is the sunlight!
Mine is the morning,
Born of the one light
Eden saw play!
Praise with elation,
Praise every morning,
God’s re-creation
Of the new day!

@Debbie G–sending prayers and hugs for you, Vivian, and Winston.
@Karen Hogue–your conversation with Zenny made me weepy, and then I totally lost it when I read about your shepherd. Our own Daisy Mae was a stray as well. She and her sidekick Charlie brighten our lives. Like you, after we lost Izzy, our retriever, in ’97, it was 10 years before I thought I could get another dog.
@Laura J–thanks for the update on Kiri. Wish I could have brought Little Silver Charm home with me. He is a hoot.
@judy berube–thanks for the link to iinfo. on dancinginmy dreams.
Prayers for Catherine Uher and John’s mom and Lil’s recovery. Hope some friend of Catherine’s updates us.
Tomorrow is a big day.
@Shari Voltz–sending hugs and prayers your way as well. I know what it’s like to scramble to get ready for those first days of school.

2Terry Crow–did you know that Elvis donated the money for the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor?
@Barbara Grimaldi–I think it’s jaw-dropping that all of us(according to reports) sent in the same amount in our donations this past weekend.

Dear Delrene:
So sorry I messed up. It won’t happen again. My Dad’s nick name was Del (Delfino) so I won’t forget it. Yes, I agree, they should probably think about maybe a dirt auction ring for the horses. They could keep that drier, I think, by adding to it as the night goes on. Would maybe eliminate the slipping and sliding. Hugs, J.B.

Dear Barbara Grimaldi:

Remarkable sale price for Sunday Silence. You never know. Million dollar sale may never race and $30,000 sale is a Champion. Hope we can tip a Margarita with all the Dumplings some day. Hugs, J.B.
