Good Morning,
I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend! My Team had a great deal of excitement in the Clement Hirsch-G1 again this year. ZAZU almost did it!
As you may know, this is a race I won 3 times in a row during my racing career. ZAZU ran in The Hirsch G-1 last Saturday at Del Mar…and closed strongly to just miss by a head. She cut to the rail at the top of the lane…and made a real race of it during the stretch run. ULTRA BLEND won closing on the outside.
I’d like to congratulate her connections. This G1 win was especially emotional for jockey, Tyler Baze. He has recently recovered from a very difficult injury…and this meant a great deal to him! Tyler, it is so great to see you back in action, healthy, and riding in top form again!
It was tremendous to see the other Grade 1 stakes races around the country. TIZWAY did a great job earning his victory in The Whitney and SEAN AVERY earned his win in a tight Vanderbilt finish! Other stakes racing over the weekend also provided lots of thrilling finishes. I hope your handicapping was very astute and proved to be quite LUCKY!
David is presently at Saratoga. The yearling sales action is now in full swing. Last month, Fasig Tipton started it all with their Kentucky July Sale. This evening, their Saratoga Yearling Sale is on center stage.
Lane’s End does have a consignment there. In the above photo, this yearling they are offering is being inspected for purchase by a veterinarian. That is just one of the stages involved when purchasing a yearling at auction. The ‘sales’ involve a great deal of homework and hard work…yet it is extremely energizing to anticipate the ‘future’.
Good luck to all involved with these horses and the sale.
If you’d like, you may watch the live feed of this auction on-line. It is intriguing to see how all of the action takes place in the sales ring.
Go to Fasig-Tipton.com….click on Fasig-Tipton TV….then go to LIVE AUCTION. This will give you the up-to-the-minute streaming. The Saratoga Yearling Sale begins tonight at 7 Eastern Time with Hip # 1…a Bernardini filly . Now….isn’t this TOO CUTE!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

PS…A HIGH HOOF to MY BERNIE. His foals had a very successful weekend of racing on both coasts!

While attending the races at Sonoma County Fair yesterday, I also attended the “before the racing seminar” at which Vic Stauffer was a guest speaker. He is working there as a racing steward. When Vic was asked about what his greatest moments were in calling races, he replied that some of the best moments were the 8 races he called when YOU, Zenyatta were running and the winner. He also said that he misses Zenyatta so much and then he got tears in his eyes and kinda choked up. It was so SWEET! I also got tears because I do miss you so much. I thought you and your team might like to hear that Vic Stauffer actually got tears in his eyes when talking about you. Love and Kisses from Sonoma County,CA–home of wine country racing.

Yes, we have high hopes for Zenny and Bernie’s foal. I am sure John will train her and that will give her, her best shot at success. Zazu did great. She was in the money and I was happy to see that! She came very close to winning. Happy for Jerry, Ann and Dottie.

@ Abigail – that bulldog is super athletic, they’re usually so sedate, plodding along. It did make me smile, a happy dog enjoying him/herself. Thanks for the link.
@ All – at the risk of repeating my posting towards the end of #313, whoever you are who posted on #313, using my name, I do not appreciate it so please refrain. Use your your name!!!

Zenny, YOU were so fortunate to land with the Mosses as a yearling. David sure knew a star when he saw one….we are sure he will never forget the first time he saw your beautiful stature.
Brenda S..
@ Maureen B – Hope you wear you Z’s Dumpling Tag so we can find you at Saratoga on Alabama day. Vic and I will be wearing ours so please look out for us.
@ All – typo on last post – s/b use your OWN name.

Dearest Zenyatta,
I hope you had a lovely weekend and that you had a chance to enjoy the exciting races on both coasts. Yippee to Zazu–she ran a fabulous race, especially since she was competing with older horses. You must be very proud of her.
The heat is still lingering and I see that Kentucky is still very warm, so please take care of yourself and little Z.
Love and many hugs,
Stel

Hi, Z,
Your dear friend and scribe, Dottie, has her special day coming up on Wednesday. A special page has been dedicated to sending her birthday wishes. I don’t think this page will accept Facebook links, so all I can say is those who might like to post birthday wishes in one spot, you can do so at a
–
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DOTTIE” PAGE (not group) at Facebook.
–
Just don’t know what we would do without OUR DOTTIE keeping us up to date on you, Sweet Girl!
–
I was a little miffed that Del Mar didn’t acknowledge formally your three successes in the great Clement Hirsch race! Thought they would at least have run your past races! You did so much for the sport, especially in Califoria, just don’t understand how they could pass up an opportunity to acknowledge you and to take advantage of a marketing opportunity!
–
Take care and enjoy the cooler weather they say is coming our way (I live in the Memphis, TN area). We have been baking under the “high” over the southwest, but glad to see it cooling down quite a bit.

Big hugs! Ann Maree
Ingrid Arnone
Yes, Zazu she ran so great I won with her and with Tizway, but we miss you so much, we wish you were running, love you my dear Zenyatta, Ingrid.

My sweet lovely Z; You always give us such great info and a story. I do not have TVG on our cable. I’ve watched you at my friends home in the past. I spent part of Sun. night watching the CD that was passed out to the first 200 people at the Nov. 2010 Breeders Cup. I cherish this!! I watched all your races again!!
I got so excited each time, as though you were running these for the first time, without a clue as to what the outcome would be. I just needed a little special Z time because I love you so. You are such a beautiful remarkable Big Mama.
I feel so lucky to have you on a CD.
When are the Ocala yearling sales held in spring? love with 2 kisses on your soft nose, one for baby z.
DebraZ
@Abigail: I’ve seen the dog on his skateboard before but surfing and snowboarding WOW. Thanks!

Dear Jamie,
I’m not surprised that Mr. Stauffer gets so emotional about Z. Here he is calling her Maiden Race win. Listen to what he says at the end as she crosses the wire. Hugs, J.B. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0oMCluUWN8

Dear Ingrid:
Good for you. Good handicapping. Hugs, J.B.

@Judy Berube….loved the walk down memory lane….Zenyatta’s allowance race in December 2007 is the most memorable of Stauffer’s calls for me, as he just goes on and on in his praise of her: http://youtu.be/B_An3ogzYEU

@Barbara Wood, Kari Bussell, Lisa G., Judy Berube——THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR LOVE & SUPPORT during my illness. It meant so much to me.
Laura J–Glad to hear you went to OLD FRIENDS, isn’t it a great place, did you see Little Silver Charm? I love him.
Gary M—-Wow, what a strange experience you had, I don’t see how they could have held you like that! I suspect the scumbags at Mountaineer had a little something to do with this episode. CAn they keep “everyone who doesn’t believe in horse slauder away from Mountaineer?”
ZENNY—We may have the storms all this week, be sure you get in the barn & stay safe, love you beautiful girl, take care of our baby Z xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
HUGS TO ALL DUMPLINGS, (if hugs are not under attack!) HA HA
Barbara Grimaldi
JUDY B–oh my oh my oh my–I had never seen the two videos of Zenny’s races–overwhelming, thrilling, impressive…incredible to watch. Thank you for posting these!!!!
DOTTIE: Please please please consider creating a DVD of ALL of Zenny’s races with the caller of each race plus extra material. I would pay a lot for such a keepsake!!!
MAUREEN B: Looks like many are going to the Alabama (at first I thought that was a hotel in Saratoga!!) and not the Travers? You mean I’ll be up there alone for the Travers–not a Dumpling to have coffee with? And I could watch it at home and not drive 380 miles? Nah–doesn’t matter–I wanna see Saratoga!!!!
Janet Cutting
Hi Zenny: I’m just taking time to say HI and hope you and the Little Z are doing well. I just love the pictures on your posts–I could just look at pages of pictures of you and your friends past and present. Well, gotta go get ready for a new week– love ya lots girl!!!!! Janet C
Stephanie

Hi Zenny and all, Thanks for the auction link.
@judy berube & Ann Maree: Thanks for the links to Zenyatta’s maiden and second races. I only get to see her races on YouTube. I don’t think I had seen these. It looks like she just hops to victory!
Blessing to all.
Delrene
Thank you so much for the great photo today. And those of you with all the great links to view. I’m so grateful to Dottie and all Z’s people for this website. It is such an incredible loving, positive , uplifting website.
And the dog video – he is so fun to watch. If it is Tillman and his pals, I saw him on a float at the Rose Parade. It was the year my son did the flyover in a B-2 Stealth Bomber. So very exciting. I was a proud Mama that day as you will soon be one too, Zenyatta.
Hugs and carrots for you and your gal pals.
Pam Zacek,

Is anybody watching the Saratoga Sale tonight?
I’ve been watching since it opened and GEEZ! Bernie’s babies are ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!! I mean WOW! I can only begin to imagine how outstanding Zenny & Bernie’s baby is going to be!!!!
Brenda S..
Dear Zenny and Dottie, Thank you so much for the tip about the Fasig-Tipton sale. I’m enjoying it so much. So far, the highest price has been for one of Bernie’s babies and the Lane’s End horses are doing well. Fascinating!!
Especially Horses
Just tuned in to the Saratoga Sale and saw Hip 28, a Bernardini Filly, out of Remember, sell for $300,000. The first foal for Remember.

Dottie
Please, go see Kip in media at Hollywood Park – he needs yours (preferably Mr. and Mrs. Moss) or John’s OK on the video he has finished. I know John has a lot of horsey duties, (as if you don’t! geez!) but will you ‘push’ a little bit to get the go ahead on this for Kip?
Paul
Zenyatta, I watched many of the races this past weekend and congratulations to your buddies who won or almost won their races. I agree that it was very emotional for jockey Tyler Baze. The Clement Hirsch race is not the same without you because you have been winning it for so long. Did you see the Battle of the Exes between Mike Smith and Chantal Sutherland on Sunday night? That was pretty good. It was pretty hyped up too. Your ex rider was confident in that race, but Chantal seemed a bit nervous. Mike won, which I figured he would, based on his experience. Good luck in the Saratoga yearling sale.
Kim S
Happy Monday Zenny!! Thanks for the info about the sales. I’ve wathed them before and just seeing all the beautiful young’uns. My Jack Russell, C C, watched them with me and she would bark every time a new horse entered the ring. TOO CUTE!!
And yes, congratulations to Tyler Baze for making a strong comeback. Ultra Blend was great and Zazu gave it her all.
@Valley View & Marlene Dodge–so very glad we Z Dumplings and Z’sters could help monetarily and with our prayers, rescue those 4 beauties. As I commented in my response email to your thank you, to update us at Zenyatta.com. We heard your cry and answered.
@Jeanie–loved your post and we should be proud!!! Yea, something positive happened with all this strangeness going on.
@Lil in KY–glad to see you posting, hope you’re better every day. Prays to you.
@Catherine Uher–thoughts and prayers are with you.
@Barbara Grimaldi and Karen Gogue–haven’t checked my emails yet today, but you can send me the info on that website, please.
Need to get going Zenny and finish some laundry. This is where it would be great to be you. No household chores :) WEll, it would be great to be you any time.
Keep on posting prayers, jokes, etc, DJ and Terry, I love them, even if I don’t comment evey day.
Have a wonderful rest of the week Zenny, stay cool and safe with TT and the rest at LE.
Lotsa love to all.
Mary R. Oakley
I was rooting for Zazu Saturday. Just wait til next year! I saw a very tall pretty gray 2-year old filly at Mountaineer Saturday. She appeared to be a whole head taller than any of her competitors. A woman next to me commented that she looked like you, Z. You’re still in everyone’s thoughts and the topic of conversation.
