Good morning everyone,
I hope you have had a very nice week. I have. It has been quite relaxing and peaceful here at Lane’s End.
Right before my team left Barn 55 for the summer (remember they had to take everything out for the every other year cleaning process) a friend of Anita’s (John’s sister) came to visit the barn.
He is an artist named Pema. He brought John a lovely piece which is meant to bring ‘good luck’. What a very sweet gesture on his part! Many thanks to him. For people in racing…luck is a very precious consideration!
In looking over the entries for this weekend…..the races look to be very exciting. Again, as seems to be the case during the summer seasons, there are quite a few major stakes races running around the country. They have definite implications as far as the road to the Breeders Cup is concerned.
David is currently at Saratoga for the next few weeks working. They have a yearling sale there next week. He also enjoys the opportunity to visit with the other horses he has purchased for clients and see the ones that have grown up from the matings he has planned for their owners. It is always so much fun to touch base. We horses….are like his dear friends!
Sarah will also be going to Saratoga to work for a few weeks. This is great news as Dottie has asked her to get some ‘fun photos’ from that venue for us to share with you in the diary. This will be so special to get an up to the minute report on the Saratoga happenings from these two people we know so well.
I’m off to stay cool under one of my favorite trees. Have a splendid weekend…enjoy the great racing…drink lots of water to stay hydrated….and most of all enjoy your time with your family and friends.
With love,
Hugs to all~ (especially my John’s mom, Mary Jane, who is truly not feeling well at this time)

Good morning Zenny, what an exciting weekend, hope someone told you and Tasty T all about it. Now you can have a nice quiet Monday staying cool.
@ – JT and Susan, Think about watching TV – if you don’t like the program, switch to another channel.
@ signofthetimes – loved the Clydesdales and laughed out loud.
@ Barbara G – great idea. I should tell you that Vic volunteered to sleep on the floor so that we could each have a bed. We can “talk” more by e-mail – I already did a small post you know where.
Brenda S
@ Barbara G – I see, on you know where, that my e-mail address is posted for all the world to see so if you can edit that out it would be great. I, in the meantime, will figure out how to post properly, like everyone else did.
Barbara Wood
Oh, my goodness. Another firestorm erupted after I signed off last night.
@DJ–please, please don’t quit posting the prayers. They hold us steady through some of the hard times we’ve been through. Those who don’t want to read them are not being coerced to. Just scroll down. We don’t all have to agree on every point. I’m sure some people enjoy the links, some enjoy the jokes, some enjoy the updates on old favorites, some enjoy the handicapping info., so there should be something here for everyone. I enjoy it all. It’s not always about what we can GET, but what we can GIVE.
Barbara Grimaldi
BRENDA S–this will be my first edit out!!! I’ll do it and save the address. Thanks!
SHARI V–I’m with you all the way and hope things lighten up.
KARI: who of us doesn’t love Lippizaners???? What magnificent horses! Thanks for the film!!!!
SUSAN–if you are the same Susan who recently expressed disapproval for this magnificent site, I certainly would not wish you to visit our work site. If you are a different Susan, please identify yourself a bit more clearly.
PATRICIA: I’m searching for a solution other than publishing our personal information. I cannot afford to do that because I run a nonprofit continuing education school and my email is out there so far and wide that having to cancel it out would be very hard for me. Please stand by and I will work something out as soon as I can…
TRINA, KARI AND PATRICIA–terrific responses to a critic!!! Bravo!
DJ: I could sure use one of your prayers this morning–one on getting through a mountain of work and one that fosters understanding and tolerance. We all have our likes and dislikes–I express them here–I’m not perfect. I’m not religious. But what you post is a wonderfully calming additive to this rich brew we call Zenny’s page.
Love to all–meet you at the pass!
Barbara Grimaldi
BRENDA S!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t know where you posted your info! It’s not on the new website, so I’m not sure where you know where is!
I do know this: Karen Gogue kindly offered to send the web address out to her many contacts, BUT I may have given her the wrong address or made a type or something, so she has so many dumpling emails that when she finally does send the link out, I hope you and many more will visit the new site. I really don’t like playing FBI but personal security is vital. Wow–this string goes on and on into infinity–ALL FOR THE LOVE AND RESPECT OF HORSES!!!! I can never forget that underlying reason when I look at Zenny’s photos and films and keep falling in love with her over and over and over again.

It’s fun being a Gemini. I see EVERYONE’S point. (But I often miss my own!) Life is like a smorgasbord. Let there be a place for everyone at the table.

Hello All you wonderful Z’sters! I’m back! I survived the surgery, & doing ok, not really “peachy-keen”, but at least I’m here!!
Some of you folks are being a little “negative” here, & are forgetting what this site is all about, may I remind you—-IT”s ZEN, not about us!!!
Another bit of GOOD NEWS, my wonderful friend, Catherine is OUT of the hospital and doing well. How thankful I am for that.
Zenny—I have not forgotten you while all this has been going on, (in fact, I NEVER could forget you), sweet dear one, I know you’re getting the best of care, so enjoy these lazy, hazy days of summer
with your pals, eat your carrots, pears, peppermints & have a ball.xoxoxoxoxo
Barbara Grimaldi
BRENDA S: will be with you Aug 26,27–same place!
Barbara Grimaldi
BRENDA S!!!!!!!! My foggy brain gets it! I see it and am going in through the back to delete–please have patience, as I don’t know what I’m doing yet but I’ll get it removed!!!

@Marlene, Hi and Welcome! Glad we have been able to help.

@Abigail, did your post have more than one link? Several people have observed that that is what gets the “awaiting moderation.” And since there isn’t a moderator, those posts get lost. Best solution is just to split up the post.

I dragged my sister, who is visiting from California, to Old Friends yesterday. The morning was pleasant for a change. An early morning thunderstorm replenished all the mud wallows. I would kidnap Patton if I had a big enough back yard. He is so sweet, like a big dog. He can safely be kissed on the nose. :-) My other sweetheart, Marquetry, was in the barn as he does not do well in the heat. I bought a share in Prized. I may be his first shareholder. We also went to the Horse Park. The Hall of Champions has a new resident, Kentucky Derby winner Go For Gin. He only arrived a few days ago so he is not part of the show yet. His name is on his stall door, though, and he was munching away in his new paddock.

Man, what is going on here? if you don’t like what someone posts, just don’t comment on it. Life is too short. @Charlotte Farmer–My favorite Lancaster movies sort of represent the phases of his career. Vera Cruz, Elmer Gantry, The Professionals and Field of Dreams. I was just amazed that the young ladies had never heard of him. @Kari Bussell-No Biz was a wonderful horse, did not perform up to expectations in the Kentucky Derby. If you are a fan of his, which is apparent, he is not the first to disappoint in that race. Churchill Downs is a horse for course track. @DMCQ and Trina N-Thank you. Here is a short joke which might amuse some, make others mad. Remember, it is just a joke. President Obama is counting votes and decides to call Senator Lieberman’s office. The president says “Hi, this is Barack Obama. Is Senator Lieberman in?” “No,” Mr. Obama,the senator’s aide replied. “It’s Yom Kippur.” “Well, hello Yom. Would you tell the senator I called?”

For those who would like to start this day with a Prayer/Poem:
…………………………………
Question the beauty of the earth,
the beauty of the sea,
the beauty of the wide air around you,
the beauty of the sky;
question the order of the stars,
the sun whose brightness lights the day,
the moon whose splendor softens the gloom of night;
question the living creatures that move in the waters,
that roam upon the earth,
that fly through the air;
the spirit that lies hidden,
the matter that is manifest;
the visible things that are ruled,
the invisible that rule them;
question all these.
They will answer you:
“Behold and see, we are beautiful.”
Their beauty is their confession of God.
Who made these beautiful changing things,
if not one who is beautiful and changeth not?

For my dear friends, thank you for sharing and enjoying with me the fragrant incense of prayer that we lift up together!

.
SARATOGA – Didn’t play Saratoga today.
.
DEL MAR –
Race 2 – Frisky was up with the pace early and faded after 3/8ths. , and finished 6th. The winner “Champions Gate” is one to watch. His time was less then a second from the track record. Watch for a few of these guys coming back. -$10.00
.
Race 6 – “Tap It Twice” came from off the pace and almost got second but she ended up 3rd. It was a good time. Granny cashed a $9.00 show ticket and only bet $2 this time. She usually bets $2 on all three of my picks when I box and that cost $6. She has cashed two of them a few times but not all three yet. -$10.00
.
Race 8 – BEST PAL STAKES – “Night Tide” broke well, pulled early and didn’t want to play after a quarter, and finished 5th. The time for the winner “Creative Cause’ was only 4 ticks or so off the track record. 6 ½ is a funny distance. Also, you have to keep in mind that these are the synthetic track records and they are pretty new. If they keep making the track faster I expect some records to fall before the summer is over. More good ones to watch for coming back. I just hope Big Z’s record stands. -$10.00
.
-$30.00 Today +$290.20 Going into tomorrow.

@To everyone concerned – Thank you. Yes it is very sensitive, you might say Top Secret. I was phishing and I got my answer. The only way anybody can talk anymore is on parchment and pass notes like high school. Someone would have to physically take it from you to read it. Also Horses are just a small part. I’ll have more sometime in the future. In the mean time let sleeping dogs lie.

@ Signofthetimes
politics, I figured that much, but why?
I don’t care one way or the other, Santa Anita I’m sure is beautiful, and isn’t there a Zenyatta statue somewhere? So, to me it’s as good a place as any.
@ DJ
Even though I don’t care much for prayers and I skipped over your postings, thinking that I was the only one but after YOU asked for feedback on the issue, I followed YOUR invitation. So I gladly skip over them. No biggie.
Good Morning St. Zenyatta,
hope you and your pals are out and about, munching on all that good stuff. Drink plenty of water & enjoy the day :) :) :)
DJ
To TC: Thank you for the joke of the day! I thought it was cute.
…………………………………
To Gary M: Good luck today and congratulations to Granny! I admire you for getting through the long detainment the other day so matter of factly. I personally would have found that experience traumatizing. You are either very calm, very brave, or I suspect both.
………………………………..
To the families of the Spec. Ops and Seals who just lost their treasured loved ones….a silent prayer.
DJ
To Sunny B: Yes of course! However, since I will error either way, I will choose to error on the side of submitting a prayer for my friends who would like one and have specifically asked.
Barbara Wood
@Terry Crow–lol!
@DJ–lovely prayer.
@Laura J–thanks for the update from Old Friends.

@Liul in Ky–so glad to hear the good news about you and Catherine. I’ve been missing you and asking about you. No surgery is ever fun,(ask me how I knew!) but I’m hoping your recovery will be without setbacks and successful.
Sunny Boyd
@ Terry Crow
Even though you figure it might be offensive to some, you still go ahead.
Aren’t you part of that sensitive crowd, here on this board?
Laura M.
@sunnyboyd
You have a real problem! Now are you trying to get jokes taken off too? Stay out of the joke department and stop micro-managing. Zenyatta’s site is for all of us to enjoy variances, not for your approval.
Brenda S.
@Sunny Boyd – Now you are on Terry Crow’s case? I DONT THINK SO. This won’t fly, so find something else to do today. What next? Hugs will be under attack?!
Kari Bussell
@Cynthia H- I love your wit and your incredible way of making a point!
@Laura J- Yippee…Go For Gin in my backward! It’s so good to live so near my great Kentucky neighbors!
@Lil in Ky- So wonderful to here from you. I was getting worried and like many others here, asking about you. I am very happy to hear about you friend. I am keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers.
@DJ-Beautfiul!
@Sunny Boyd-
Thank you for respecting others views. I have a deep sincere repect for yours.
“A racehorse is a animal that can take several people for a ride at the same time.”
Kari Bussell
MAJOR ERROR- “A racehorse is a animal that can take several THOUSAND people for a ride at the same time.”
Kari Bussell
I did not see Sunny Boyd’s comment to Terry Crow before my last post ….I was referring to a willingness to skip over prayers for the record.
Kari Bussell
@Gary M- I forgot to say….I am sorry about your awful ordeal… I am glad you are okay.
