Good morning everyone,
I hope you have had a very nice week. I have. It has been quite relaxing and peaceful here at Lane’s End.
Right before my team left Barn 55 for the summer (remember they had to take everything out for the every other year cleaning process) a friend of Anita’s (John’s sister) came to visit the barn.
He is an artist named Pema. He brought John a lovely piece which is meant to bring ‘good luck’. What a very sweet gesture on his part! Many thanks to him. For people in racing…luck is a very precious consideration!
In looking over the entries for this weekend…..the races look to be very exciting. Again, as seems to be the case during the summer seasons, there are quite a few major stakes races running around the country. They have definite implications as far as the road to the Breeders Cup is concerned.
David is currently at Saratoga for the next few weeks working. They have a yearling sale there next week. He also enjoys the opportunity to visit with the other horses he has purchased for clients and see the ones that have grown up from the matings he has planned for their owners. It is always so much fun to touch base. We horses….are like his dear friends!
Sarah will also be going to Saratoga to work for a few weeks. This is great news as Dottie has asked her to get some ‘fun photos’ from that venue for us to share with you in the diary. This will be so special to get an up to the minute report on the Saratoga happenings from these two people we know so well.
I’m off to stay cool under one of my favorite trees. Have a splendid weekend…enjoy the great racing…drink lots of water to stay hydrated….and most of all enjoy your time with your family and friends.
With love,
Hugs to all~ (especially my John’s mom, Mary Jane, who is truly not feeling well at this time)

Barbara G, that’s OK, a Honda Civic is a nice reliable car that lasts a long time. We can take a ride in the Rolls for extra comfort anytime we want. The Honda can be our work car. Thank you for taking the time to do this.

@ PEGGY ONE – I apoligize I shouldn’t even have responded to your earlier post. I am going to assume you were having a bad day and I was just the lucky one that got the brunt of it. I have been on this site since day one and have only love for this site and all things Zenyatta. I don’t want the site to turn into anything negative either.
Barbara Wood
@Trina N–THANK YOU for helping me connect Deb’s “Catherine” with OUR Catherine Uher. I’ve been wondering about her for so long and have asked several times. Will definitely be praying. Anyone know about Lil in KY and her Catherine as well. someone try to give us a report, ok?
@Gary Moulton– that is UNREAL. I’m so glad you’re not intimidated. I’m not suprised anymore.
@Abigail from Montreal–thanks for the links.
Abigail from Montreal
@Barbara Grimaldi: Could you post a link to the web site please?
Trina Nagele
@Abigail from Montreal–As of 11:38AM PDT,
your links to the British Pathe don’t yet appear on Z’s fb–so sorry!

Something funny to lighten the mood: I was watching TVG a while back and Frank Lyons (love him) said something soooo funny. He was handicapping a difficult evenly matched race and could not figure out who to bet on – he said “I am more confused than a newborn baby in a topless bar”. I laughed so hard and have never forgotten that.
Trina Nagele
@Abigail from Montreal–I’ll send you the link so that Barbara doesn’t have to post it–she’s concerned about security, and some people have already started posting negative things on fb.

@ Abigail from Montreal The links worked fine for me. They made me feel I was back in England, Pathe News was always shown at the cinema ib the “olden” days
Brenda S
@ Abigail, thanks for the links – forgot to say that.
Abigail from Montreal

@Charlotte Farmer-You are so right about today’s actors. I went to a birthday party for my daughter, I think it was 1995 but it could have been 1996, during which her and a group of her friends were discussing the movie stars they liked. I was walking by, and, I think out of courtesy, one of the young ladies asked me who my favorite was. I said something to the affect that my favorite just died a few years ago, Burt Lancaster. The girls looked at each other and, in all seriousness, said “Who’s Burt Lancaster?” I beat a hasty retreat. Remember all of those TV shows and will add my favorite to the list, The Invaders.

@DJ-I can’t repeat their answers here.

@ Trina – thanks for the e-mail.

Wanted to share a link to an outing of my first really famous horse love. Darn, the date is on it, now u’ll all know I’m not really 29! He was such a smart & handsome boy, a very talented steeple chaser during the late 70’s. He was really the UK Zenyatta of his day, wildly popular, a household name. People who had no interest in racing would come out to see him if he was at an event nearby, he was quite the socialite. I can only imagine if we’d have had facebook & websites back then, he would have been all over that. I know steeple chasing is not so popular here (not a liker of it myself) but wonder if any of you have ever heard of him. Will be interesting so see if I can find him on Abigales link. So please, get your coffee/mimosa/pears, sit back and enjoy Rummie. See Zenny, even his pet name was simerlar to yours. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/tv_and_radio/sports_personality_of_the_year/7703167.stm

@Barbara Grimaldi, would really like to see you site. Not sure about leaving e-mail address h ere or not. Z..hope you are having a cool and relaxing day today. Just love looking at your sculpture everyday. Kisses on your soft nose.

@ J Smith – I just watched Red Rum and loved him. I left the UK in 1967 so the only “Red” I remember is Red Rondo who won for me at Sandown just before I left but any horse that turns on the lights at Blackpool is tops in my book. Now I think the National should be banned.
Barbara Grimaldi
CAROL#42–I agree with you…I already get 150 emails a day and don’t want to publish my address anywhere!!!! Hopefully you are on Karen’s or Diana’s list and it will reach you.
EVERYONE: I will go in later tonight and tweak it again to make the comment type bold for easier reading. Heaven knows if I can pull off that tweak, but I’ll try!!!!
J Smith
Brenda S. could not agree more, on both points.

@Barbara Grimaldi: Have taken the Honda for a spin around the block. I like it.
@Gary Moulton: I’m sure there is more to this scarey story. Do you have an attorney? What does your attorney say? None of our business, I am sure, but whole thing is creepy.
@Zenny: Hope you are enjoying your Sunday brunch and all your friends on and off the track are enjoying a safe and peaceful day. We look forward to a new Hoofprint tomorrow.
