Good Day Everyone!
Speaking of SLEEPING BEAUTY…..I’d like you to meet BRONZE BEAUTY!
She is an adorable 2 year old filly (by Latent Heat) who lives at Barn 55.
She finished her appetizer (in the little black bucket MY JOHN always had for US)
and then totally relaxed and took a nap.
The curious part of this is that she also did not want to ‘miss a thing’. She kept her
head close to the door to ‘check out’ what was also going on in the barn.
I remember it well! When I was at Barn 55, we would all be in our stalls after our
training, baths, and breakfast. Then between 12 and 3 each day, My John always
wanted everything nice and quiet and relaxed for us in the barn! It was our special
time to really stretch out, take it easy and rest! (Just like Bronze Beauty is doing in
this photo!)
During this time, he also kept the fans running for 2 reasons: (1) to keep the barn area
nice and cool for us and (2) allow the humming sound they provided to serve as a bit
of a distraction from all of the outside noise that could go on during this time.
Dottie teases him about this often…saying it is like providing a safe environment
and scheduled NAP TIME for a baby! My John just smiles. I know he really feels having
a routine is very important for all of us! Then, of course, in so many ways I know he
looks after ALL OF US as though we truly are his adorable “DUMPLINGS”.
With Love,
Hugs to All~

AWWWWWWW, Zenny, that IS truly TOO CUTE!!!! I want some of those “treats” that YOUR JOHN provides if it would help ME sleep LOL :-D
——————-
YOUR JOHN is a smart guy!!! I had a feeling those humming fans went to good use at Barn 55. When my fellow Dumplings and I walked through there, we noticed some of the horses were lying down napping, getting their ZZZZZZZZs :-)
——————-
Thank you, John (and Dottie) for continuing to share photos from your “loving” Barn 55!!! XO

HUGS & KISSES TO MY QUEEN and BABY z XOXOXOXOXO

Bronze Beauty looks so comfortable! I love finding my horses just relaxing in their stalls. Queen Z..time is passing and baby Z is beginning to grow, you look just wonderful, motherhood agrees with you! Had a great time at Del Mar, one of my favorite tracks! The fans are so friendly and the staff aim to please. I would spend the entire meet in Southern Cal at Del Mar if I coulld talk my husband into it. Love the weather!

p.s. Zenyatta (and Dottie) is Ebby still at Barn 55, or was she shipped to Del Mar? I hope to see some more workout videos of Big E!!

This is just one example of the brilliant sensitivity of John Sherriffs. Nice job.

Awwwww. That is just the sweetest!!! I just wish I could better express how beautiful I believe these treasures of information you give us in this diary are. I can imagine how peaceful and calm nap time would be for all those horses lucky enough to be in Barn 55 – makes me want to take a nap, too. Hee! Thank you for sharing the photo of Bronze Beauty! Thank you for sharing this wonderful place!

@Karen Gogue – The pace is familiar but I can’t remember the mane. Yes old cowboys can be funny. The truth is if a joke doesn’t have some part or more of truth, then it isn’t funny, you know the old saying “Many true words told in a joke”. Oh, you would be wrong about Slim. I’ve seen him ride the H-BOMB several times among is other work.
I’m in-between now, I’m 57, “Determine” 1954

Dearest Z,
That photo is simply TOO CUTE for words! Reminds me of something my dear departed dog Buddy would do. I can’t wait to see Bronze Beauty in action. Hope all is well with you and Zee Little One. You take good care,
Your humble J

What a wonderful picture and post! The combination speaks volumes about what a phenomenal trainer/caretaker YOUR JOHN really is.
They also bring many smiles to my face as I think of Bronze Beauty and the other horses being so relaxed and comfortable and knowing they are totally safe in their home at Barn 55.
I just thought of a name for Baby Z – how about Royalty??
@ Lil from KY – I am sending prayers to your friend, Catherine, and to you.
@ To all Dumplings and other posters, have a wonderful day!

Bronze Beauty is a beauty. Love to see horses lying down sleeping. John’s stable is so attuned to the horses and their needs. All is centered around them, not some rigid schedule that is geared more toward the human caretakers. In Barn 55, you see calm, happy athletes. I love the soft humming of the fans to cover outside noises.

Oh Z, this is so cute. I love the photo and your story. Especially about Dottie and John and the fans cooling and soothing. What a wonderful team. It really is special how Bronze Beauty (great name!) has her head by the door. Ohhh you all are so great! Have a super day sweetie!
Lucia
Great name and a cute photo! Could you let us know when she races next, and “E” as well? I look forward to following Zenyatta’s lil’ sister. :) Have a great Thursday everyone and remember to SMILE today!

Zenny, your John really is the best! I think every time I read this diary how lucky you were to end up in barn 55 and how lucky we fans are also. Hope you are napping in front of your fan about now as the hot part of the day is coming up soon. Hope we see some more pictures of Little E soon. Love the pic of Bronze Beauty – maybe we’ll see training videos of her also. Hope all the Dumplings have a great day!
