Good Day Everyone!
Speaking of SLEEPING BEAUTY…..I’d like you to meet BRONZE BEAUTY!
She is an adorable 2 year old filly (by Latent Heat) who lives at Barn 55.
She finished her appetizer (in the little black bucket MY JOHN always had for US)
and then totally relaxed and took a nap.
The curious part of this is that she also did not want to ‘miss a thing’. She kept her
head close to the door to ‘check out’ what was also going on in the barn.
I remember it well! When I was at Barn 55, we would all be in our stalls after our
training, baths, and breakfast. Then between 12 and 3 each day, My John always
wanted everything nice and quiet and relaxed for us in the barn! It was our special
time to really stretch out, take it easy and rest! (Just like Bronze Beauty is doing in
this photo!)
During this time, he also kept the fans running for 2 reasons: (1) to keep the barn area
nice and cool for us and (2) allow the humming sound they provided to serve as a bit
of a distraction from all of the outside noise that could go on during this time.
Dottie teases him about this often…saying it is like providing a safe environment
and scheduled NAP TIME for a baby! My John just smiles. I know he really feels having
a routine is very important for all of us! Then, of course, in so many ways I know he
looks after ALL OF US as though we truly are his adorable “DUMPLINGS”.
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@JB: Thanks for the link to the New Leading Ladies, I really like both of them very, very much. I would be happy if they always come in 1 and 2, and I would not care in which order. I really like them both, I do not think I could chose one over the other…

Dear Lisa g.:
Here’s some info on Dahoud. This is a tough race because it’s one mile and a half. I don’t know much about New Zealand bred horses (which he is). But, they probably breed for stamina more than we do here, so maybe this will suit him. Didn’t want to volunteer a play for your friend, as would feel bad if she lost on my choice. Hugs, J.B. (If you click on chart next to a race, you can see how Dehoud progressed in each of his races; however, there are no charts for the races he ran out of the U.S.) http://www.equibase.com/premium/eqbHorseInfo.cfm?refno=8671739®istry=T

Dear Terry Crow:
I remember this episode because I always watched Mary Tyler Moore Show. But, I don’t remember the details like you do. Very, very funny. Hugs, J.B.

Dear Brenda S.:
You’re idea to help Old Friends secure more space for the horses is a good one. I thought I read recently that OF was going to acquire some neighboring land. I have to see if I can find where I read that. Russ and I try to send little donations (wish we could afford more) to OF, River Edge (where Dumpling Susan volunteers) and to a few others when we can. Hugs, J.B.

Dear Gloria Jeanne:
I read that too. Lucky girl. Can’t wait to see the photos. I was wondering if maybe she was one of the bidders that won a visit with Z. Hugs, J.B.

Maybe- I’m not sure I buy it just yet – not until I see the pictures. Sorry.

Dear Brenda S.:
Here’s the article I was thinking of. But, I was wrong about the location. It’s about opening a division of Old Friends in New York State. Hugs, J.B.

Dear Laura J.:
Thank you for the link. I noted Step is running tonight (he’s on my Horse Watch). Hope he does well. Have you looked into another partnership? Hugs, J.B.

@Terry C: Cop Rock? I thought I was the only one who would remember this wonderful quirky show! I think it got about 3 shows out then it got dropped. I’ve tried to find it on CD or video for several years. Guess it’s not available. I finally got Season 1 of Picket Fences. We watched it for the judge’s decisions, but it had lots of quirkiness too.

@Terry Crow: Hilarious! More later tonight – out to dinner with the friend who kitty sits for me when I’m abroad.
@Um, that isn’t quite what I meant. Oh heck, you guys all understand.
@Zenny: Love the Road Trip! photo! Late in DMR season is a nice one for 2yo fillies – if “she” is ready. I’m just sayin’.

Hi Zenyatta. What a great picture of Bronze Beauty. It is too cute seeing her head by the door so that she doesn’t miss anything going on around her. What a great idea of using the fan for cooling and also its humming as a relaxing/sleep aid. John is the best!! Love you big girl, stay comfy, eat well for two and have loads of fun time with your BBFs. Love you, Angel in Disguise.

Zenyatta, that is a great picture of Bronze Beauty taking a nap. It really sounds like your trainer knows how to take care of horses. The picture brought back memories for you. He gave (and still gives) all the horses a designated quiet time for sleeping and resting with the fans blowing on a hot day to keep the barn cool and keep out outside noise. Sounds like a real plan to me.

Dear Queen-Z & Team-Z,
I’ve been away from my computer for a week or so. Today, I’m enjoying all of
your Diary entries, from 303-310. I couldn’t resist thanking you for this
adorable photo…and so many interesting entries.
Hope your HEAT WAVE ends soon. Hugs to all. Fondly, OraJean
