Good Day Everyone!
Speaking of SLEEPING BEAUTY…..I’d like you to meet BRONZE BEAUTY!
She is an adorable 2 year old filly (by Latent Heat) who lives at Barn 55.
She finished her appetizer (in the little black bucket MY JOHN always had for US)
and then totally relaxed and took a nap.
The curious part of this is that she also did not want to ‘miss a thing’. She kept her
head close to the door to ‘check out’ what was also going on in the barn.
I remember it well! When I was at Barn 55, we would all be in our stalls after our
training, baths, and breakfast. Then between 12 and 3 each day, My John always
wanted everything nice and quiet and relaxed for us in the barn! It was our special
time to really stretch out, take it easy and rest! (Just like Bronze Beauty is doing in
this photo!)
During this time, he also kept the fans running for 2 reasons: (1) to keep the barn area
nice and cool for us and (2) allow the humming sound they provided to serve as a bit
of a distraction from all of the outside noise that could go on during this time.
Dottie teases him about this often…saying it is like providing a safe environment
and scheduled NAP TIME for a baby! My John just smiles. I know he really feels having
a routine is very important for all of us! Then, of course, in so many ways I know he
looks after ALL OF US as though we truly are his adorable “DUMPLINGS”.
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Zenny, your John truly understands both the heart and mind of a thoroughbred. Such wisdom he has and uses in managing the care of his special charges. One of my favorite pictures of YOU is resting in your stall, head up but those gorgeous eyes closed in a mini nap. These wonderful animals are blessed to be in Barn 55, inder the watchful eye of the best trainer in the business. Thanks for this adorable photo and another uplifting diary entry.
Tatia
I think what Bronze Beauty is taking is sometimes called a “power nap.” Get Dottie to explain it to you. Thanks for showing her to us. Can’t wait to see more of both or you – or should I say all “3” of you?..
♥♥♥
Susan
Thank you Zenny – and Dottie, for sharing insights into the quality of your life at Barn 55 – and the wisdom of your John to make it so. If only others would learn from his example of fine stewardship!
tony and sue
Zenny, this great photo makes us want to take a nap. Your John sure has the right approach to training and caring for these amazing animals. Stay cool, big girl. Hope you and your little one are doing well. Here’s a high hoof for you and all your pals at LE and Barn 55.

Hello Mama-to-be Z. Bronze Beauty is so cute. I love the idea of the relaxing part of the day. Very Zen, lol. Love you sweet Lady.

Hello beautiful Zenyatta and little Z. The way this post came up on my screen, it looks as though You (from your photo on the ZENYATTA page behind the posting) are looking around the corner at Bronze Beauty! Too Cute! I know you have so many wonderful memories of your years with Your John and he has stored up memories of You too. Bronze Beauty is just that:) Thank you Zenny and Dottie for posting and keeping us blessed with Your presence. Hope you have a wonderful day with sunshine in your heart.
Having figured out how, I signed up for Your John’s training videos this morning.
@Diana S: lost connections happen…just not Dumpling to Dumpling hopefully. Bless you for all you do to keep us connected. The ether-always subject to storms, gremlins, unidentified interlopers, lurkers and distractions…I think that happened with a certain official at a certain other sporting event and he changed history for that sport. Re: your new law firm, I laughed until the tears rolled:)
@DJ and Diana S: You’re both Too Cute! What fun!!!
@Karen Gogue: You said you were “an over the humpLING dumpLING”, but I know you are young at heart! LOL
@Barbara Wood: I hope the new owner of the mare does become a Z Dumpling! I would love to get updates and know her name. Bet other Dumplings would love it too.
@Kennedys in San Diego: I agree. I’ve had two absolutely “heart of my heart” special rescue girls(one 90%black lab and one chocolate lab) and now, McDude, our current Center of Our Universe. My girls definitely KNEW they were loved and now McDude KNOWS for sure that he is.
@all: Hope you have a day of small miracles to be thankful for. I look here to see many of those blessings to include in my gratitudes during the day.

GREAT PIC. HORSES ARE CREATURES OF HABIT, LIKE A ROUTINE WE HAVE IN OUR OWN LIVES. KEEPING NAP TIME RESTFUL FOR THE HORSES IS SO GOOD FOR THEM. JOHN, YOU COULD RUN A BIG BUSINESS HELPING CEO FOLKS HOW TO TREAT THEIR EMPLOYEES. BUT LESS FACE IT, HORSES ARE SO MUCH NICER. THESE DEAR ONES WILL GIVE IT ALL FOR YOU. HORSES ARE JUST TOO WONDERFUL. PEOPLE COULD LEARN ALOT FROM WATCHING HORSES. I LOVE HORSES AND OWN THEM. MINE ARE PLEASURE HORSES,AND THAT SAYS IT ALL TOO. HAVE A GREAT DAY. SHERRY D. WV.

GREAT PHOTO! TOO CUTE!

MAY I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE NAP…and especially when it’s raining outside. (Rain is my favourite soothing sound, I think.) But this photo of Bronze Beauty is just precious and I do LOVE the way she’s angled out to catch any action that might pass by! Adorable!
How are you, big girl? I imagine you all dappled out and munching in your paddock and THAT memory reminds me of one post from Dottie where all of you girls were lined up in a row. It remains one of my all-time favourites of you. Anyway, I bring you hugs and kisses, sweetie.
THE VAULT just published a new article called, “Catching Up With Rachel Alexandra” and I’m certain that you would love seeing it, Zenny. One legend to another, so to speak. Here’s the link:

Also, if all my friends here who really enjoy great photography don’t know Lydia Williams, you should seriously get acquainted. Lydia is a professional equine photographer and has AMAZING photos of the greats of yesteryear and today. She has just bought herself a scanner that lets her repatriate some of her
older pictures from the pre-digital era and is posting some of these on her Facebook page. Here’s a link to one she took of Terlingua & Darryl McHargue in 1979 in California:

Diana Harris
that is too cute. I keep my babies on a schedule too. when I was showing (we did eventing) I was always greatful when I got a mid morning dressage test because it was nap time and my horse was so fit for cross country that it was much better for her to want to sleep. :) I also leave the fans on but right now they are on 24/7 because we live in Texas and it is 105 here. I hope you are keeping cool and getting plenty of rest for you and your growing baby. love ya Zenny!
Gloria Jeanne
This is way TOO CUTE!!! John is such a great guy and wonder “DAD” to you guys. I am sure you miss him so much – it makes my heart hurt to think of just how much you two miss each other.

Dearest Queen,
Thanks for the adorable pic from Barn 55. How lucky you were, dear Z, to have such a thoughtful and loving trainer as Your John.
Ahh–a nap in the afternoon–I’m already yawning. :)
Have a lovely day romping in the blue grass!
Lots of love and kisses,
Stel
