Good Morning,
The other day at Barn 55, Gilbert was there ready to work. He
does horse dental work for some of my pals at the barn.
Well, he truly came prepared with his ZENYATTA CAP. Around the brim,
he has all of the different jockey figures and pins he has collected in relation
to certain races, horses and people in the industry. It is really a very unique
cap!
I know that the DEL MAR HAT CONTEST was last Wednesday….but in my
opinion, GILBERT’S cap is a real winner!
Happy ‘Hump Day’! Dottie tells me this is a reference used by people when
working a normal business week…Monday through Friday. Wednesday is the
mid-point…thus, you only have 2 days until the weekend.
This is TOO CUTE! In our industry, Wednesday often begins the racing week!
Interesting, how differences occupations can have such varying schedules. I
think that is what makes life so much FUN!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@Lil in KY- My Aunt (lost her 2 yrs ago moments after Rachel won Preakness) lived in Louisville. I spent my entire summers with her growing up and much time as a adult. We were very close. She had great passion for horses and the sport.I still have cousins there.

Secretariat’s death could have been prevented and others also by cryotherapy. Ice cold water could have saved him. If his feet had been immersed in ice water right away he would have been OK. People were using ice water before Secretariat was born. I have a book on Thoroughbreds by D.T. Swidler that recommends cryotherapy and was written in the 1960s. Unfortunately there are one or more veterinarians who have claimed that ridiculous things like styrofoam could work better and that cryotherapy could soften the hooves(not true unless soaked for more than 3 days straight). Laminitis is not a disease. It is a symptom just like a cough and can have numerous causes. The word means swollen laminae. Cryotherapy reduces the swelling and returns the laminae to normal size restoring circulation and eliminating excess pressure on the hoof wall. If the laminae have already been damaged then stem cells can help them to regenerate and heal. Researchers have intentionally caused laminitis using sugar(fructan) or black walnut extract. These researchers cause suffering to horses and at the end of their studies kill them. THere are already numerous studies proving that cryotherapy works and so do stem cells. Funding more non productive redundant laminitis research will only cause the suffering and death of more horses. No true horse lover can be in favor of it.

@ Diana S – You have a wicked sense of humor and I love it!! Please don’t ever stop posting your pointed, on the ball, comments. Have you had many requests from Canada for Dumpling tags?
@ Kari B – I will never forget that wet, miserable but wonderful day, I feel blessed that I was able to be there and then to see himself at Claiborne and give him a peppermint or two.
