Dear Friends,
It is a very snowy morning here in Lexington. So, I get to stay inside for a bit and visit with Charles. Lucky me! (Notice the sun shining in my back window. It is absolutely gorgeous here. Looks just like a holiday card!)
My Sunday message should be coming out soon…sorry for the delay! (Might be just up now.) Dottie was helping with Sarah’s video of me enjoying the outdoors…and we had to change a few things do make it all ‘pop up’ easily for all of you.
In it, you get to see me DANCING to MY OWN SONG in the snow and in the paddock! This is really special.
Have a wonderful day! Charles and I are sending you one big HUG and KISS from my cozy barn at Lane’s End Farm.
With love,
HUGS TO ALL~
Z

This has been such a great “Zenyatta Day” for me. First of all, I had poked around on the internet and found the website for BloodHorse magazine (not being a racing fan in general, I had never heard of it, but when you wrote early on that you were working on a piece for a commemorative issue, I knew I had to find one). Anyhow, I called their customer service number and a very nice young lady said that of course, they would be glad to send me that one issue – and it came today!! How special to see all of the pictures of you and all of your friends on Team Z. The final words from you directly were just wonderful! Dottie is a very good helper isn’t she? Then, some nice people who write on this page let those of us who are not quite so advanced in our technical knowledge of how to find pictures and videos of you provided the link to Youtube, and I got to see you dancing in the snow! It was great! Thanks so much to all. I hope you don’t have as much snow there as we do in Ohio – just remember, spring always comes and it should be wonderful in Kentucky. Take care and keep us posted on how you’re doing. Your Ohio friend.
Dani
Hi Z! Good to hear from you so often. I know how busy you are so it is really nice of Dottie to take time to translate all your adventures. I’d also like to thank Sarah for the video of the Dancing Queen. You’ve not missed a step. Speaking of videos, your friend Kitty is quite the chatty one, isn’t he? Or maybe he just wants the attention? And you and Charles with the adorable kiss. Is that a smile I see on your face? It’s good to hear safety is of the utmost importance in your getting settled in. I know they are taking extra special care with you on that. All the new Team Z seem very thrilled to be in your presence and have the chance to work with you. A group photo might be in order, including Sarah and David, so we can put more of the faces with the names. Stay warm. Best wishes.
Charles Groupies!
Now that all of the girls at our barn in Ca. have seen the video of Charles kissing Z, and snuggling with her, WE LOVE YOU CHARLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning Big Z! This video with your song playing in the background is the best post racing one yet! Looks like you were checking things out & ready to go on a “big tear” if you had the chance. Cold, brisk air brings the playful out in everyone don’t you think? Years ago when I owned my horse she absolutely loved to rip around the pasture bucking & kicking up her heels in the snow. Summer heat made her lazy & a tad miserable. You will get the hang of it all soon!!! Love Ya. . .

I’m waiting to hear from you….Suzanne*

I love reading updates about Zenyatta. I also love to see her in updated videos. Still I am sad to see her there, retired, and lacking the ability to do what she loves to do- run. It is evitable, but I see no joy in having her just take a few walks a day. So sad.

Hi Big Girl!!! I’m glad you are keeping warm and enjoying being back home in Kentucky!! It was a blast to see you out doing your rockette in the snow on the youtube video, and glad to see that Charles could follow your lead while dancing, lol!! Hope you enjoy being spoiled rotten, because you darn sure deserve it!! Hope that you’ll be able to continue exercising-it’s great for your figure and health!! Take care Beautiful One and I hope we’ll hear from you again real soon!!! I love you!!

Hi Z, I loved the picture of you in your stall. I would do anything to be able to be with you 24-7. I would also do it for free. You are my special Queen and I miss you so much. Take care and please everyone be EXTRA LOVING AND CARING FOR OUR ZENYATTA.

Good morning Zenyatta. Just came in to visit you and watch your video again. You are so so gorgeous, now I feel a whole lot better, got to see you moving around and dancing. Take care today and stay warm. Charles has fallen for you, big time. I love you.

Yeah!!!! No lip chain! That must mean Queen Z is settling in. Thank you for the video. Don’t know who you are but it’s apparent you too are falling in love with Z if it’s a fair guess that is what your giggles I hear mean.
OFF TOPIC: To Z’s walkers in the video, PLEASE, PLEASE put warmer clothes on! You made me cold just watching the video. It looks like you have LE uniforms, but those paints look thin….hats, gloves, boots. As you can see you will need, because it looks like Z is enjoying herself in the snow.
Thank you again for the video. Please continue to love Z and help maintain her soft personality.

Ms Zenyatta, I will have to rush home again, I was reading your posts and it looks like there is another video out there of YOU, and without a lip chain. I do not think you need something that severe, but I go with the Pros, look what John has done with you…I heard you were a wild, little, big filly. Love ya, Lisa g
Wendy Bratten
Thank you Charles for letting Zenyatta stop and look around. She is so charmingly curious about everything. What a delight you are Zenyatta.

Hey, all:
I just saw the video from today of Charles taking Z out in the paddock and NO LIP CHAIN. The chain is across the top of her muzzle. At first, I thought she was eating snow but further along in the video you can see she’s uncovering a little grass and grazing a bit. She just looks wonderful . . . calm, relaxed and without that lip chain. Happy!!!
Denise Howell
Zenyatta,
Tell the “handlers” to get rid of the lip chain. I don’t buy that it “keeps you safe.” Those are widely considered cruel by people in the business and used by stupid, mean people to “control” horses that are already treated badly. Poor babies. It makes me mad.
