Dear Friends,
It is a very snowy morning here in Lexington. So, I get to stay inside for a bit and visit with Charles. Lucky me! (Notice the sun shining in my back window. It is absolutely gorgeous here. Looks just like a holiday card!)
My Sunday message should be coming out soon…sorry for the delay! (Might be just up now.) Dottie was helping with Sarah’s video of me enjoying the outdoors…and we had to change a few things do make it all ‘pop up’ easily for all of you.
In it, you get to see me DANCING to MY OWN SONG in the snow and in the paddock! This is really special.
Have a wonderful day! Charles and I are sending you one big HUG and KISS from my cozy barn at Lane’s End Farm.
With love,
HUGS TO ALL~
Z

Zenyatta – loved seeing the video with your dance moves in the snow with Charles. It was great to see the marvelous vistas you have from the paddock and I can already imagine what it must look like in spring, summer and fall. You are looking fantastic with your dapples standing out against the snowy backdrop. Have you begun to grow a winter coat yet?
We miss you here in So Cal, but very happy to see you happy at Lane’s End!
Irene Caty
Hi Zenny, glad to hear that you are still dancing. I know what it feels like to want to dance. I pray that you keep your sweet, wonderful personality. Glad to see that you are adjusting to the weather there. We are having beautiful warm weather now and it makes me think how you loved those kind of days. I hope you are happy there and do wish you were here. My thoughts of you are often and the tears are still flowing because you are no longer here with us. I love you Zenyatta and will look forward to your next post and any pictures we can see.
Stephanie Lambert
I hope you have grown a winter coat or have begun to sweet girl xoxoxo

Hi Z! I don’t know how this stuff goes with the transition from “track to farm” but it seems it must be hard for you to not get to run. Is it? I don’t understand how you and other mares spend the rest of their lives. In a small stall like that and in a paddock? Do you ever get ridden again ever in your life? How many babies will you have in your broodmare job? I know that of all the broodmares in the world, you will have the best life of them all because you are in good hands and are loved so much.
Thanks for all the news Z and friends!
Terri
What a beautiful horse and I love the name!

Hello friends of “Z”…. thank you so much for the daily updates. I never miss a day – they mean so much. I loved coming to California to say good bye to my (and everyone else’s) special Gal Pal Z. Enjoy your transition. I’m looking forward to your paddock journey. I’m also looking forward to visiting you in KY. Hugs and more hugs Z….. jj

Hi Z, I just witnessed and totally enjoyed your “Snow Dance” on YouTube. Keep it up!!! As I listen to Christmas music, I think of you. Oh how I wish you did not leave in December. You are like a beloved family member away from home during the holidays. I so look forward to seeing you in the near future.

I check in to this site so often as do others.Could we have more specific details on Zenyatt’s living conditions, decisions made for her care and future? So many questions and concerns have been expressed but not much real info is shared. Hope i don’t lose interest after all this time. Thanks.

This is what we needed to see. Thank you. Looks like Charles will get her through this change. Bet it has taken him by surprise to become one of the number one guys in America (maybe he doesn’t know yet). I think everyone is relieved she has him. She will be fine as long as she has love and attention. Thanks again for taking us all on this journey.

“I Hope You Dance”. All of your life.

I’m sure that you got plenty of that snow that we got here in Tennessee! It must be stunning there. You look as if you are going to burst if you don’t get to stretch those long legs soon. Hahaha!! Patience…
WE LOVE YOU GIRL!

Thanks for the great video. Great to see you again Zenny. Thanks Charles for helping her out with things. How about YOU Charles letting us know what YOU think about our Queen Zenyatta.. As always kisses on the nose to my girl….
Cate
They should do a SUPER BOWL COMMERCIAL with her drinking Guiness !
EJ
Why can they not take her out for a ride along dirt paths / or hand-ride her with a pony? She needs more exercise… Otherwise she looks happy !

Look at you Queen Z! I don’t know if Charles is kissing you or you are kissing Charles but I’m so glad you have someone there who loves you like we do in California! I love you and am sending warmest hugs and kisses to you from Hawaii (I am here for a month or so from California)!
Thank you Sooooo much for keeping us informed on how you’re doing.
Diane (from Solana Beach, Ca).

Ms Zenyatta, Good Morning. Last nite I rushed home so I could see the video of you dancing in the snow, but I got side tracked as I received the Zenyatta Edition from Blood Horse. I went through your magazine, and then to the puter…Wow, I am such a lucky girl…The Queen in my lifetime. Have a great day…I will check later if there are any new posts. Keep the videos coming, and you are doing a great job of training Charles….Love and Hugs….Lisa g

Hi Zenny! I wondered if you will ever be ridden again. Or, since you are retired, you will not do that any more. Anyway, you look fabulous, and I’m glad you are having fun in the snow!

It appears that Charles is beginning to see that YOU are no ordinary horse…looks like he’s falling in love. Thank you for the video, very nice. I am beginning to understand the importance of keeping Z safe until she settles down from her racing mine set and understand why the lip chain is used. However, my only observation (not criticizing you Charles) would that it appears in video that he’s holding her “tight” (lip chain lead) and she looks uncomfortable. I do understand now the ramifications if she were to bolt on you, but just don’t think she needs to be held so tightly. My two cents.
Love you Z and thank you to all at LE for caring for her.

Queen Z, it’s so wonderful to see you enjoying your new home in Kentucky and surrounded by such loving caretakers. My family and I miss seeing you on the racetrack so much, but we’re also very happy to see you entering this next phase of your life. We know that you’re going to be a fantastic mother to the new little prince or princess you’ll have in the future. Thank you so much, Z, for all the joy you’ve given us. You’ll always remain in our hearts. We’ll be reading your diary and watching your progress, so please keep updating us.
Love and hugs, Stel

Good morning Z–
Wow! Look how many friends love you and check up on you daily. You must feel you’ve been sent to another planet with all that snow. Hang in there, girl. It will be beautiful in the spring, with lots of beautiful grass. Love you always.

You look so happy this really put our minds and hearts at ease. Thanks to all and especially Dottie for keeping us updated on your new home.
Love you Queen Z and think of you always

Oh my gosh Zenyatta, how beautiful you look in the snow. What a lovely new home you have. You are truly a blessing to all of your family and fans. Stay warm
Love and hugs big girl.

Zenyatta we love to read about your day. You are one lucky horse to have good care and your fans all care lots for you, dear one.

Good Morning Pumpkin!!
Think you should have kept your Calif. residence too ( as many people , people, have 2 houses), that way you could maintain the ‘best of both worlds.” When you knew that some BAD
weather was settling in & you’re going to be cooped up) you could wing it back to HP, do some ‘visiting’ to family & friends, then head East again when the paddocks opened up. That would be a ‘win-win’ for EVERYONE….mostly because we LOVE YOU & MISS YOU so much!! Stay warm today, munchkin!!! XXXOOO Sue
Mary
Goodmorning Beautiful.
I just watched your video from the 2010 Breeders Cup…I was at the last two at Santa Anita but I just couldn’t afford Kentucky. Its a nice video and you sure look big and beautiful as always.
Today we are going to a Christmas party, one of many, I love this time of the year.
I am glad you are in such good hands Zenyatta, I am sure you have the best care takers a girl could have. Stay warm and happy, I will write you tomorrow.
I love you Zenyatta…BIG HUGGS…
Patricia
Hugs & kisses to you too lovie girl! I am glad that all precautions are being taken for your safety. I agree with Chris & Roberta…you still have lots of energy & need that extra special attention that Charles & the new crew are giving you. Believe me, when you are prepared for the snow, they will let you go & it will be such fun! I was just looking out my front window at the horses next door, rolling in the snow & I could hear them whinnying! It is a warm day here in New England, but they still had their winter attire on!
Thanks for the post
janet
Dear Zenny! I’m sure you are just chomping on the bit(figuratively speaking)
to get out and about freely, but your handlers are very wise to go slowly with all the snow. We certainly don’t want you getting hurt, however, I’m curious to know if they don’t have a smaller paddock area to put you in where you can canter and buck a little, while keeping you somewhat restrained within a small boundary? Are all the paddocks as big as they appear in the picutres and videos?
Don’t they have a jogging ring where they can extend you lead somewhat?
Just curious..
