Dear Friends,
It is a very snowy morning here in Lexington. So, I get to stay inside for a bit and visit with Charles. Lucky me! (Notice the sun shining in my back window. It is absolutely gorgeous here. Looks just like a holiday card!)
My Sunday message should be coming out soon…sorry for the delay! (Might be just up now.) Dottie was helping with Sarah’s video of me enjoying the outdoors…and we had to change a few things do make it all ‘pop up’ easily for all of you.
In it, you get to see me DANCING to MY OWN SONG in the snow and in the paddock! This is really special.
Have a wonderful day! Charles and I are sending you one big HUG and KISS from my cozy barn at Lane’s End Farm.
With love,
HUGS TO ALL~

Hi Zenny…I know you are getting adjusted to Charles and you two are going to be very good pals. But at this point I just keep thinking of what you would do if you saw Mario or John. Thank goodness you don’t think like me! You look beautiful…Miss waiting for your next scheduled race. But I can look forward to your diary posts!! Stay safe my big, beautiful mare!

Happy Monday Z!! Saw the video and you’ve still got it girl! How lucky everyone at Lane’s End is to be able to watch you entertain and show off in the snow! Can’t wait to see what you do on your first day loose in the paddock, but you have to be careful – I’ve seen my barn buddies get too silly and slip and fall and even though they have been ok its very scary so don’t do that to your new family! :) As always thank you so much for posting – I will never ever tire of hearing about your day!! xxoo

KEEP DANCING GIRL and U LOOK HAPPY!!!
Ange
You know, I realize your people are trying to keep you safe, but this not turning you out thing is ridiculous. I have worked with many racehorses and when they first get turned out, yes, they’ll run a bit to stretch their legs but it usually lasts less than 5 minutes. Then they might roll, buck & squeal a bit but then they start to graze. The longer they keep hand walking you, I think they’re going to make it worse, it’ll just make you want to run like crazy even more. You’re retired, you should be able to run free now.

Thanks so much for the posts and videos. I look forward to looking for anything new on you each day! Happy to know you are taking well to our cold snowy weather in this part of the country. Thank your family for making the arrangements to still share you with us even in your retirement! They are very special humans!

I can’t wait to see you dance again, Zenny! The youtube is downloading now, verrry slowly because I have dial up. I’m trying to wait patiently. I love seeing pictures of you in your new digs….I’m hoping to come see you again in the spring, you’re closer this time. I love you, always, Queen Z.

Hi Zenny. I love to read your daily posts. It’s the first thing that I do in the mornings. I loved the video of you dancing in the snow. Wonderful!!! I bet you can’t wait to run free to romp and kick up your toes and do a full dance!
I’m happy that Charles is giving you love and getting your love! Such a special and lucky lady you are!!! Love, love, love you!!! Stay safe and happy big girl!

Zenny, what a great pic! We fans get spoiled with so many updates and as much as I enjoy them, I don’t want you wearing out and getting hoof-cramp!:)
Love the video too! You look so happy and beautiful, dancing along. You and Charles seem like good friends already!
You even get fan post from donkeys, horses and dogs:) Wow. Everyone just loves you!!
I also want to thank you for the charity work you have done for not so lucky racehorses…
Best wishes to Lane’s End and Team Z and thank you Dottie for the lovely notes!

Hello from Massachusetts! It has been warm up here and no snow…You look so Beautiful out there walking and prancing in the snow. Looks like Charles is much more comfortable with you now. With all of this snow and very cold weather in KY I wonder when you will be turned loose in the paddock? Maybe after a really big storm with the snow deep enough you can not hurt yourself? They will know when you are ready. Dottie and Sarah, Thank You so much for these daily diary’s. I have to admit I am a Zenyattaholic…XOXOXOXOXOXOXO
Chris
Ange, I disagree with your statement about the hand walking. How much risk would you be willing to take with the Z?? She is a hot mare, just off the track, there is snow on the ground making it slick. She is probably barefoot (unshod) now. So if the lip chain and the hand walking is what the folks at Lanes End are doing, believe me, its because they are taking NO RISKS with the treasure they have been trusted with. Relax you all, she is in good hands!

I cannot wait for the day when you get to go out in a paddock and just be a horse!! I would LOVE to be able to read your mind!! You are going to LOVE it! xoxo

Manna from heaven! Another post along with some great videos…I cannot imagine other owners giving US such wonderful access. You really are the peoples’ horse and I cannot wait to see you sometime in 2011. This is for Dottie…is there a way they can take her to some indoor facility so she can really stretch her legs until the snow melts. It looks as if LE has eveything well in hand …but I am so anxious to see her really turn it on! The sight of a running, jogging, galloping Zennie is nothing short of AWESOME. Charles…you ae one lucky man…I think you know it. ;-)

Zenny, you look sooooooo REGAL and beautiful, as always. I could watch you for weeks on end and never get tired. When she stops in the video, she almost seems to be saying..”WHERE IS EVERYBODY?????????” Thank you Dottie for your wonderful posts. The first thing I do in the morning, is read it. Stay safe big girl. Big hug and kisses.. from rainy Oregon. Love you so much!!

These daily updates are just great. Makes my day to see how Zennie is doing and being able to see great pictures and wonderful videos. Looks like she is settling in really well into her new surroundings and routine. She is so regal and so lovable. What a treasure she is for us all.
Warm hugs to Z and all her entourage.

Zenny, pass some of that beautiful snow up my way, would you? It’s so gloomy and rainy here. ):
In any case, i’m so glad to see that you are well. You’re such a beautiful girl, and you deserve nothing but the absolute best life can offer!
Boo
Oooooo Zenny is flirting with Charles!
Roberta
I agree with you Chris. She’s still too looky-looky to be relaxed in the paddock. And there’s a difference between the rolling-bucking-squealing-running around (and farting, sad to say) that horses do when they’re feeling exuberant in a familiar setting and what they do when they’re still “wired for sound”, which Zenyatta is. You can tell from her alert stance, the constant looking around, and the tension in the walk and I for one wouldn’t want to be walking a hot horse w/o enhanced control, having needed it when my horse was on stall rest for a sore foot for several months – any little noise or movement was an excuse for an explosive move. And this is a horse who, when he arrived at the barn which is right next to a train track, just looked at the humans and other horses, saw we weren’t reacting, and decided it was OK despite being the first train he’d ever heard in his life. You have to remember that horses are PREY ANIMALS and their default action is TO RUN AWAY.
Gloria Jeanne
Zenyatta- your racing plates were already taken off right before you retired? Anyway no snow or ice skating for you my love. Stay safe and warm. What do you want Santa to bring you for Christmas? Write a wish list to Santa and post it here please. Love and Hugs

Love Liza’s song, especially the lines about “checkin’ with Mike about what gear to use” and “the big mama knows how to put on a show”. Do you ever!
So many seem to think it’s in the bag for A.P. Indy. Are they putting words in your mouth? I thought you were playing hard-to-get. LOL. Love you always.
Anna
You look so beautiful dancing in the snow, Zenny! I so enjoy your videos and daily updates, and I love you bunches!
