Good Morning,
I love this photo! This is my dear friend, April Mayberry, who came to visit ME while
she was in town this week for the Fasig Tipton Yearling Sale.
As many of you may know, I spent my very early training days with April and her Mom,
Jeanne, at the Mayberry’s Training Center in Ocala, Florida. Once purchased at the
September Yearling Sale, and my skin disease was cleared up, I was then able to
travel. Dottie made my vanning arrangements and I was off to Ocala to start my early
lessons with April and Jeanne.
They have literally known ME from the very beginning stages of my career.
It was with them that I learned so many of ‘the basics’ about being a race horse
and the foundation for my early lessons about equipment, riders, galloping, jogging,
and breezing down the lane was established.
I stayed with them until the beginning of May of my two year old year…and then I
was off to Barn 55! It was absolutely FABULOUS to see April and spend some time
with her! I even got to show her MY BABY BUMP! So much has happened in the
last several years since I was a ‘darling little yearling’ living in Ocala!
SUCH WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL MEMORIES!
It has really been an eventful week. This is very special! A second party contacted
the Breeders’ Cup on Wednesday afternoon and asked if they could MATCH
the $11,200 donation to the V FOUNDATION for the Breeders’ Cup Experience and
VISIT WITH ME! They really wanted to participate in all of this!
The BC emailed Dottie and told her of this request. Needless to say, we agreed to help
and were more than willing to make this happen. Thus, it is now $22,400…that
will be contributed to the V FOUNDATION for this BC Package and VISIT WITH ME!
Then yesterday afternoon, I was able to TANGO on the phone with ANN and wish her
a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY! She was very excited to hear from ME…and SEE ME!
During our visit, she added one request…she wanted ME to be sure and THANK ALL
OF YOU FOR THE WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY GREETINGS! She was truly touched by
ALL of your thoughtfulness!
It has really been a quite a busy and FUN week. I have so enjoyed touching base with
so many of my dear friends…and of course, MY TEAM….and ALL OF YOU!
HAPPY FRIDAY!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@All: Sad news from our Judy (Maass) Gadwood/JAG. Her sister Mary passed last night in Utah, where she was visiting family. Judy asks that you put her family, especially her 90-year-old mom, in your prayers and lifting thoughts. Services will be in Northern California, where her sister lived but details are not set. Judy said to send her love to all of you and thanks all of you for your support and prayers. She will post here again, just not for awhile.

ESpecially Horses – you are welcome. This movie is of particular importance as we think about the retraining of our beloved thoroughbreds and any horse for that matter. And blessing to Judy and her family!
Pam Zacek,
Wow I almost missed a diary, good thing I didn t and Im glad April stopped into say hello, I have a question, when You first started trainging, for racing, were you afraid to get in that gate at first, or did you and all go smoothly, just wondering, that, seems like, alot, of races, the horses start acting,up for that one, I wondering if you were afraid of that at first, or trained, real, good so you weren t afraid, have a happy weekend, and glad You got to spend some time, with another old friend, and good for the foundation.

@Barbara Wood – hope your Charlie responds quickly to meds and that your area gets some relief from both heat and drought – we went through a similar summer 2 yrs. ago and it was a real battle getting hay for my horses and cows.

Zenyatta’s fans, I always bet on John’s S, horse’s do the same, Ingrid.

@JAG–so grieved to hear of Mary’s passing. I hope you got to see her. Please know how many here are praying for you and your family, especially your dear mom. Maybe one day you can catch up reading to see how many here care. We love and miss you.
@Linda M– I cannot WAIT to see “Buck”. It sound just like my kind of movie. Most horses are forgiving, if they see the owner is beginning to “get it”.
Zenny–eagerly awaiting your next post. I’d better check.

@ Judy B, thanks for link about Citation, he was great, isn’t he? Hugs, Ingrid.

@Barbara Wood-I hope Charlie is feeling better. I also have a rescue dog named Buddy. I can understand how vet bills add up. 2 acl operations last year. He is on Cosequin DS and Glycoflex 3. They both have helped him a lot.
Zennie, what a lovely photo of you and April. I just came home from work and need to read all of these posts and check out those links. @Everyone-have a nice weekend!

To all the Whiners, lamenting about not being able to see Zenny, please refer to Sharon Call’s post of #297, which gives you an EXCELLENT explanation as to why you cannot see her! I’m sure any one who truly loves Zenyatta, would not want to put her in jeopardy. As another poster said, “LANES END is NOT an amusement center! Lets not be selfish, people, the emphasis is on Zenyatta, & keeping her safe, NOT ON YOU!
