Good Morning,
I love this photo! This is my dear friend, April Mayberry, who came to visit ME while
she was in town this week for the Fasig Tipton Yearling Sale.
As many of you may know, I spent my very early training days with April and her Mom,
Jeanne, at the Mayberry’s Training Center in Ocala, Florida. Once purchased at the
September Yearling Sale, and my skin disease was cleared up, I was then able to
travel. Dottie made my vanning arrangements and I was off to Ocala to start my early
lessons with April and Jeanne.
They have literally known ME from the very beginning stages of my career.
It was with them that I learned so many of ‘the basics’ about being a race horse
and the foundation for my early lessons about equipment, riders, galloping, jogging,
and breezing down the lane was established.
I stayed with them until the beginning of May of my two year old year…and then I
was off to Barn 55! It was absolutely FABULOUS to see April and spend some time
with her! I even got to show her MY BABY BUMP! So much has happened in the
last several years since I was a ‘darling little yearling’ living in Ocala!
SUCH WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL MEMORIES!
It has really been an eventful week. This is very special! A second party contacted
the Breeders’ Cup on Wednesday afternoon and asked if they could MATCH
the $11,200 donation to the V FOUNDATION for the Breeders’ Cup Experience and
VISIT WITH ME! They really wanted to participate in all of this!
The BC emailed Dottie and told her of this request. Needless to say, we agreed to help
and were more than willing to make this happen. Thus, it is now $22,400…that
will be contributed to the V FOUNDATION for this BC Package and VISIT WITH ME!
Then yesterday afternoon, I was able to TANGO on the phone with ANN and wish her
a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY! She was very excited to hear from ME…and SEE ME!
During our visit, she added one request…she wanted ME to be sure and THANK ALL
OF YOU FOR THE WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY GREETINGS! She was truly touched by
ALL of your thoughtfulness!
It has really been a quite a busy and FUN week. I have so enjoyed touching base with
so many of my dear friends…and of course, MY TEAM….and ALL OF YOU!
HAPPY FRIDAY!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@Sunny Boyd–yes, he’s on Amoxicillin. Thank you so much, and I’m sorry about your late Sky. He must have been a character.
@Abigail from Montreal– thank you so much. She gave amoxicillin and a week of Tramadol&Rimadyl. Fortunately, the x-rays were pretty normal. She thinks he just tweaked it somehow. He and our German Shepherd play rough sometimes. He is sleeping a lot! We take him back next Friday. Thanks for caring. I love your articles!
@Kim S–many thanks.
@Karen Gogue–thank you, my friend.
DMCQ
@Diana S: A million thank yous!

Very nice picture of you and April. I love you Big Mama. Take care.

Zenyatta – What a great week and isn’t that amazing someone has matched the auction bid – good news for a wonderful charity. Lots of great posts this week and looking forward to opening at Del Mar. As much as I love both mares, go Blind Luck…… and hope all come back safe and sound no matter whether they win or not. I’m not so sure about the match race. I’m sure it will generate lots of interest, but I’m just not thrilled with the idea of two horses and riders on the track for a “winner takes all” type of race. I am very new to all of this, but it’s just a feeling . I know there have been great match races in the past, so we shall see. Certainly best wishes and good luck to all.

A beautiful picture of you and April. Nice to know that you have not forgetten people who have been part of your training.

Dear Signofthetimes:
You’re welcome. Yes, that’s really something; nine races as a two year old. So glad you enjoyed the article. Hugs, J.B.

GO BLIND LUCK!!!!! And great luck to John and the Mosses tomorrow too!
Zenny, have I told you lately that I’m in love? Huh? What’s that you say? Oh, MMMMM….WITH YOU!!! Now who’d ya think?!Silly girl!

Dear Gary Moulton:
That aggressive ride by Mike in the Los Angeles Hcp surprised me a bit. Chantell did get the worst of it. I hope they avoid aggression in their match race coming up at Del Mar. Mikey took a bad spill in NY. I guess that never really leaves you. Hugs, J.B.

Dear Z,
Love how you’re looking right into the camera in this photo. You’re beautiful. Goodnight and Sweet Baby Dreams. Love you, Judy and Russ
Susan in TN
@Judy Berube: Thanks-I feel much better.
@DMCQ: Thank you!
@Julie DuVall: Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately, in TN you have to have been a non-profit for more than 5 years or it is illegal to hold a raffle :( Personally, I don’t get it!
@Kim S and Lucia: Harry Potter day!
Thank you to all for links. Got signed up for John’s training videos!
Trina Nagele
Dearest Z, I’m back again to say good night and sleep tight till the morning light.
@John—Well said.
@Nancy—I hope you are feeling better.
@Dona—Hope the rough sailing with the new computer has given way to untroubled waters for you.
@Eveline—Best wishes again to you for comfort and courage in this time of bereavement.
@The Kennedys in San Diego—Thanks for the info on the fillies running tomorrow (Sat.) and the link to the lucky winner of the Breeders Cup tickets and the visit to Zenyatta.
@Terry Crow—Good ones—as always!
@Barbara Wood—Of course I’ll pray for your four-legged family member, rescued lab-mix Charlie! And as others have said, antibiotics ought to put him right. I’ll also pray for all the poor creatures suffering and dying from the heat and drought.
@Linda in NJ—Thanks, all is OK. Just had several visits to the vet the past couple days for two of my own dogs and for a friend’s dog (unrelated problems). One has an auto-immune type eye infection and is also starting on Rimadyl for arthritis. BTW, did you know that you can search for any key word on the website by clicking on EDIT and then on FIND in the drop-down list, then entering the name or word or phrase you want to find? Since this link was from DJ, you can enter DJ and it will take you to all the places on the page where DJ posted—you just need to click on NEXT to go from one to the next. But to save you the trouble, here it is again. Foals frisking and frolicking to the strains of “Happy Birthday” linked to by DJ on #297: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffct3Rlu14w

Night prayer for those who would like one:
……………………………………
Lord our God,
restore us again by the repose of sleep
after the fatigue of our daily work,
so that, continually renewed by your help,
we may serve you and our brothers and
sisters in body and soul.
May we be granted a quiet night and a perfect day’s end.

Linda in NJ: I am glad that you enjoyed the Happy Foals High Hoofs! I was blessed to happen upon it at the right time.
…………………………………..
To Susan in TN: Thank you for the beautiful photos! I so appreciate them! My envelope is snail mailing along :)
…………………………………
To Trina N: That is fascinating and helpful..I never would have found that out! A Dumpling organizer :) Thank you!

To Barbara W: A prayer for Rain – Oh God, in whom we live and move and have our being, grant us rain in due abundance, that, being sufficiently helped with temporal, we may then more confidently seek after eternal gifts.

@DJ – No I have never heard of Norcatur. I went to Pedigree Online and came up zero. I then put Norcatur into Google, zero.
If I were you I would contact the St. Joseph Public Library, Reference Section. Tell the Reference Librarian that you have a very old plaque that has a picture of a horse named Norcatur and on the back is the following: Norcatur 17855. Walnut Park Farm, St. Joseph, MO.
Find out if they have any way of identifying the horse, through the name, or if they have any reference to a Walnut Park Farm. It they say there would be a charge then ask if there is a local historical society in St. Joseph’s, if so could you have the number. Contact information below along with a link to other libraries in St. Joseph’s. If you run into a road block let me know and I will see what I can do. I love puzzles.

@Judy Gadwood – It is during difficult times such as this when words seem to fail us. Please take some amount of comfort in knowing that you and your sister are in our prayers and though we can’t be with you we are there in spirit. Lots of love.
Charlotte Farmer
@Zenyatta – I am so excited to read the news of the matching donation. You are truly a treasure to all. I love you!

@Trini Nagele and DJ– thank you so much for your prayers for Charlie and for the prayer for rain (as well as the general prayer). I just wrote a response to John’s training video that I am so grateful California isn’t having this dreadful summer. Trina, hope your sweet one s are doing better.
JAG–still praying–hope she(and you made it through the night) and that you see some improvement today. Hugs.

Good Morning Zenny, it sounds like it’s going to be another hot, sticky day so please stay cool, I hope you have some shady trees in your paddock.
We’ve had a stressful week here in Zen Nation, so many sad posts. My cousin’s husband passed away on Thursday and so many of you have had emotional events to deal with. Hugs and comfort to all in need of a hug today.
Peppermints are packed ready for the drive to Ky on Monday with a few in my pockets for the Prince of Wales tomorrow
Have a great weekend Zenny.

Good Morning Queen “Z” That is wonderful news on the match of the donation. What a great cause.
April is one lucky lady. Looks like you both are enjoying the visit. It will be pretty fun watching the match race with Mike and Chantal. Good luck to John today at Hollywood Park. This does bring up a question. It seems Mike does not ride for the Mosses or John much anymore. Does anyone know why? Gee they made such a good team!!!
I will be rooting for Blind Luck to day. Good Luck and have a safe trip.
Hugs and kisses
Jackie

You’re an amazing horse and so is your Team. Keep up the good work. Love hearing all about what you are doing and how your pregnancy is progressing. Love to you!

Hi Z. It is Saturday morning in CA. Probably close to noon in Kentucky. Hope you stay out of the heat. Have a great weekend Z. xxoo

@Judy Berube-Thanks for the links to the Los Angeles Handicap and Citation. While we may have a difference of opinion on the cause of the DQ in that race, we can all agree on Citation. I have mentioned this before, but it is still amazing to me. Citation actually ran in a race, and won it, between the Preakness and the Belmont.@HH_Thanks for the link to the auction. A worthy cause, indeed.@Trina Nagele-Bless you for your rescue work. @Diana S-Check out Kathryn Cogswell’s last post.@DMCQ-Why is Manna from heaven like horse hay? They both come from aloft.

@ Trina Nagele. You’re sweet. Thanks for the kind note on my daughters web-site from yesterday (post297). She has grad-degree in geology (volcanos). She is lovely and sweet like Zenyatta.
