Dear Friends,
Tomorrow morning, Wednesday-July 13th, a wonderful fund raiser is taking place and I am honored to be a part of it! For quite some time now, I have worked with the Breeders’ Cup on behalf of the V FOUNDATION for Cancer Research. I am proud to say, very proud, that as of June 30, 2011, I HAVE RAISED (ME—ZENYATTA—A HORSE) $53,332.50 for this amazing cause.
Tomorrow morning, Breeders’ Cup is going to offer a travel package to the 2011 World Championship Races which will again take place at Churchill Downs. It is for the ‘DON’T GIVE UP ESPYS V FOUNDATION AUCTION’. This will take place on ESPN RADIO and ESPN2..during the “MIKE and MIKE in the Morning” program.
The winner also gets an EXCLUSIVE ZENYATTA VISIT! (That’s the part I am contributing to this.) As I’m now IN FOAL, I obviously will not be physically participating in the Breeders’ Cup Races this year…but I will truly be there in heart, soul and spirit!
I want to do MY PART to help in any way I possibly can.
Per the Breeders’ Cup official announcement, fans may bid on the package or donate to the cause by calling 1-800-4JIMMYV.
Bidding on this particular auction package will be offered from 6 to 7 a.m. ET. (To my west coast friends…I am so sorry it is this early in the morning for you!)
This package, that one may bid on during the aforementioned time frame, includes all of the following:
1) Two (2) tickets in the exclusive Trophy Lounge at the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Friday and Saturday, November 4th and November 5th, 2011 at Churchill Downs, Kentucky
2) One (1) hotel room for three (3) nights over Breeders’ Cup weekend at an Official Breeders’ Cup Hotel
3) Access to an Official Hospitality Center at a host hotel
4) Transportation to and from the track on Friday and Saturday
5) Two (2) tickets to the Winner’s Circle Welcome Party on Thursday, November 3rd
6) Two (2) tickets to the Finish Line Celebration on Saturday, November 5th after the races
7) Exclusive: “Meet and Greet” with 2010 Horse of the Year, ZENYATTA, at Lane’s End Farm. (That’s ME!)
The funds received on the winning bid for this will go directly to the V FOUNDATION for Cancer Research.
Please note: The wording for these 7 listings for the package were taken directly from the BREEDERS’ CUP OFFICIAL announcement which was sent to Dottie yesterday by Jim Gluckson of the Breeders’ Cup.
HOOVES CROSSED that this auction item and all of the others can in some way make a significant contribution to further research and progress in our quest to fight cancer.
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

PS—Dottie was at Santa Anita yesterday morning for workouts and she wanted ME to let you know that Barry Abrams was at Clockers’ Corner. He speaks in a whisper, is texting and emailing often, but looks wonderful. To think, his procedure was only one week ago today is amazing. She told him that I’d wished him great BLESSINGS in the Diary….and how all of you expressed concern. (Per Dottie, he even BLUSHED a bit as she told him this. Hearing this, WE think, certainly touched him.) Barry wanted ME to tell all of you that your kind thoughts, prayers, and best wishes are greatly appreciated.
From ME to YOU…THANK YOU!
Debbie

Dear Charlotte Farmer and Z Friends:
Here’s an article from Bloodhorse on Old Friends. States sufficient funds have been raised to bury Noor there. Congratulations Charlotte. All of your hard work and passion has succeeded in reaching this goal. You are a special Lady. Dear, dear Zenny, why am I not surprised that you are one outstanding fund raiser – YOU excel at everything you do and so does Dottie. Like many other folk, I would love to bid but this senior citizen just doesn’t have very much disposable income. You know that the big draw is YOU and that the other prizes are the icing on the cake.
I hope that you’re keeping cool and not being bothered by those pesky flies, you don’t seem to be wearing your fly mask lately. I’m sure it’s important for you to be contented and calm so that the baby bump can grow in a relaxed ZEN environment.
Great news about your friend Barry, back at the track already. I’m sure that hearing from Dottie how you (and all of us) were sending him good wishes gave a lift to his day.
@ Dawn C Looking forward to seeing you soon Dawn, have a safe trip to Kentucky. Hugs and Kisses from Fort Erie Zenny.

OH! My dear Zenyatta, this is other of your wonderful things that you do, I would love to take part, but money is an issue, so glad Barry is well. Love you, Ingrid.
Bridget
That’s great, Z! So proud of you!
Celeste
Thank you for sharing more cool photos and also for dedicating yourself to causes such as cancer research. How wonderful to read that Mr. Abrams is doing well enough to get back to Clocker’s Corner – that is just too cool. It would be beautiful to have a visit with our Queen Zenyatta, but I’m sure the cost of the auction prize will be way out of my budget. I will keep hoping that some day down the road, the rest of us may visit you at Lane’s End. Thank you once more for sharing with us, Dottie and Zenyatta!!

@Eveline–I am so sorry for you loss, but I wanted to add that as many of us are praying for you, I hope that you are able to draw comfort form this most wholesome of sites where you are cared for by so many across this nation and around the world.
@Charlotte Farmer and Michael Blowen– COngratulations! Job well done (or rather, to BE DONE!)
Mary
Zenyatta, ask your Team; could we pay to see you at an affordable donation? Only the rich will see you per this auction.
Hugs and Prayers

REGARDING FUNDING FOR NOOR:
Sorry we are not at the needed amount for Noor. I don’t know how this happened. I spoke with Charlotte this morning after she had talked to Michael. He did not seem to concerned that the statement was an error.
The original estimate for all of this was $5863.36 it had so be changed due to some unforseen things. The new total has advanced to $6803.36. Per diem had to be added for two nights along with security deposit for the truck they are renting maybe one other thing I’m not certain. I have all this information in a file but really don’t know how to get to there from here. Anyway as of last Friday our total was $2485.00. I had an e-mail from Michael on Saturday telling me the new total was I believe $3500.00. He has not given Charlotte that new figure. I forwarded to her the e-mail concerning it.
I have respectfully asked for a new listing of funds.
I don’t know how this came about but it is not a fire I started. I am merely trying to let people know that it isn’t so. I am aware of two very nice donations that are on there way but even with those we are not over the hump.
I want to take a moment and thank every one for their kindness and generosity in this endeavor. Charlotte is a wonderful lady and I admire what she is doing so much. You are all to be commended for your caring and your help. Times are not easy for people which makes what you do so very important.
Charlotte is busy today working on getting Noor’s box ready. This in itself is a big task.
I am in no way picking on anyone I admire Michael I love The Bloodhorse what has happened is done so now we must move forward and continue the quest. If you have questions and I can answer them I’ll be happy too my e-mail has been posted several times. thanks
Kathy Kimber
Just in case you want the e-mail and can’t find it I’ll post again. tarquin_lhs57@yahoo.com

I apologize if I left the incorrect impression with Esther at The Bloodhorse. What I meant to convey is that we’d raised about half of the necessary funds and I was completely confident that the remainder would be donated before the end of July. And, if it wasn’t, Old Friends would raise the difference, Noor’s journey has never been in jeopardy. We are complying with all of Charlotte’s wishes to provide a dignified resting place for Noor. We have buried 21 Thoroughbreds..including Hall-of-Famer Precisiuonist and horse of the year, BVlack Tie Affair. Anyone who has attended one of our memorials can attest to our sensitive and professional handling of these delicate situations. If any of Zenyatta’s fans have any questions please feel free to e-mail me at michael@oldfriendsequine.org and I’ll he happy to answer any and all of your concerns. Thanks again to Charlotte for her efforts and to everyone who has contributed…either through words of support or a donation. All the Best, Michael. P.S. Tell Zenyatta that we’re having a big party the day after the Breeders Cup at Old Friends and she can toss four tickets to our party as part of the package if she likes. Thanks again to Dottie, John..Jerry and Ann…
Amber Trainer
Hey guys! Great to hear everyone is doing good, I love keeping up to date with you Zen! Last year I came all the way from Scotland just to catch a glimpse of you. I was lucky enough to get more than a glimpse of you though, I spent my entire sunday outside your barn the day after the races, and even stroked you through the fence. I felt like the luckiest girl alive. So… any chance that someone who lives outside of the US can bid on this package?

Here’s a great little video and song for those of us who adored Secretariat.

@Michael Blowen–thanks for the clarification. I figured it was something like that. I know how much you loved Precisionist (and all the others as well). Give Little Silver Charm a kiss on the nose for us…if you can catch him! He’s pretty fiesty.

Hi there Zenny, Dottie and Zen Nation readers. How wonderful to know that your philanthropy continues even though you are no longer gracing the track. But, then again, I’m not surprised. The commitment that you and your Team have shown to making a positive difference in the world is inspiring.
As luck would have it, the next article on THE VAULT is in the same spirit of making a difference. In fact, it is about our very own Charlotte Farmer and Noor! It was written especially for you, Charlotte.

Dear Zenny,
Thanks so much for the update on Barry a special person and a wonderful trainer. His commitment to horseracing is evident by coming back to the track so soon. Continued full recovery to Barry Abrams. The Breeders Cup package sounds like a real bidding temptation for those with the $$$$. Hope it raises a lot for your Cancer Fund. I worked at a world renown cancer hospital and cancer is really a chronic illness that people can live with for years and because of your fund further research efforts toward cures will be able to occur.
Hope you had a great day and love the photos. On all the Breeders Cup ads there is sooo much talk about your nose loss and how it truely was your best race and how you showed so much throughbred heart. Heart is all ways as an athlete and as a kind and caring horse with humans who help you be all that you can be.

That is amazing how you contribute to all these great causes! I wish I could even have a chance at winning, but unfortunately, I just dont have the money to even come close to winning because I know how expensive this will get. Its a wonderful cause though Zenyatta and you really are an angel! :D
Sharyn
What a wonderful cause that you and your team are contributing too! A visit with you is as special as it gets.
