Dear Friends,
Tomorrow morning, Wednesday-July 13th, a wonderful fund raiser is taking place and I am honored to be a part of it! For quite some time now, I have worked with the Breeders’ Cup on behalf of the V FOUNDATION for Cancer Research. I am proud to say, very proud, that as of June 30, 2011, I HAVE RAISED (ME—ZENYATTA—A HORSE) $53,332.50 for this amazing cause.
Tomorrow morning, Breeders’ Cup is going to offer a travel package to the 2011 World Championship Races which will again take place at Churchill Downs. It is for the ‘DON’T GIVE UP ESPYS V FOUNDATION AUCTION’. This will take place on ESPN RADIO and ESPN2..during the “MIKE and MIKE in the Morning” program.
The winner also gets an EXCLUSIVE ZENYATTA VISIT! (That’s the part I am contributing to this.) As I’m now IN FOAL, I obviously will not be physically participating in the Breeders’ Cup Races this year…but I will truly be there in heart, soul and spirit!
I want to do MY PART to help in any way I possibly can.
Per the Breeders’ Cup official announcement, fans may bid on the package or donate to the cause by calling 1-800-4JIMMYV.
Bidding on this particular auction package will be offered from 6 to 7 a.m. ET. (To my west coast friends…I am so sorry it is this early in the morning for you!)
This package, that one may bid on during the aforementioned time frame, includes all of the following:
1) Two (2) tickets in the exclusive Trophy Lounge at the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Friday and Saturday, November 4th and November 5th, 2011 at Churchill Downs, Kentucky
2) One (1) hotel room for three (3) nights over Breeders’ Cup weekend at an Official Breeders’ Cup Hotel
3) Access to an Official Hospitality Center at a host hotel
4) Transportation to and from the track on Friday and Saturday
5) Two (2) tickets to the Winner’s Circle Welcome Party on Thursday, November 3rd
6) Two (2) tickets to the Finish Line Celebration on Saturday, November 5th after the races
7) Exclusive: “Meet and Greet” with 2010 Horse of the Year, ZENYATTA, at Lane’s End Farm. (That’s ME!)
The funds received on the winning bid for this will go directly to the V FOUNDATION for Cancer Research.
Please note: The wording for these 7 listings for the package were taken directly from the BREEDERS’ CUP OFFICIAL announcement which was sent to Dottie yesterday by Jim Gluckson of the Breeders’ Cup.
HOOVES CROSSED that this auction item and all of the others can in some way make a significant contribution to further research and progress in our quest to fight cancer.
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~
Z
PS—Dottie was at Santa Anita yesterday morning for workouts and she wanted ME to let you know that Barry Abrams was at Clockers’ Corner. He speaks in a whisper, is texting and emailing often, but looks wonderful. To think, his procedure was only one week ago today is amazing. She told him that I’d wished him great BLESSINGS in the Diary….and how all of you expressed concern. (Per Dottie, he even BLUSHED a bit as she told him this. Hearing this, WE think, certainly touched him.) Barry wanted ME to tell all of you that your kind thoughts, prayers, and best wishes are greatly appreciated.
From ME to YOU…THANK YOU!
Barbara Wood
Dearest Z–thank you so much for sharing the good report on Barry A. We all love him from watching him interact with you.
And God bless YOU for your generous heart and spirit. I hope the lucky, lucky person who wins really appreciates it. I would love to bid, but alas, we’re retired and on a fixed income. It just shows how love for you has “caught on”, and your fame will always be available to help others less fortunate. Love you, love you, love you.XOXOXOX.
Barbara Wood
@DJ–I am getting accustomed to your daily prayer and Terry Crow’s daily joke. Please don’t stop.

Wish I had $20 or $30,000 to bid…… :-(
Will there ever be a chance for us poor folks to visit you?

Great News Zenny!,
Just read on Blood Horse web site that Michael Blowen said the necessary funds to relocate the remains of Noor have been reached! They are expecting his arrival at the end of August. Congratulations & HIGH HOOFS to Charlotte Farmer for these results and her amazing effort! (If I missed a prior post with this announcement I apologize.)
Love & Peace

Zenny: What you are doing is great.
I would love to bid in the auction, but I must work and I don’t know if I’d be able to afford the auction price! Most likely not.
Love ya,
sue

Thank you Zenny and team Z for continuing to support this and other great causes. One of the many reasons that makes you so special! Good news about Barry – lots of prayers and positive thoughts were sent his way. (thanks Dottie and John for contributing great photos)
@ DJ look forward to your prayers
@Carolyn Caswell-Brown that’s great news – if that info has been previously posted, I missed it also – congrats to Charlotte Farmer and all others involved.

That would be great to see the BC, but the best part of the package would be seeing you Queen Z. Will you be getting any visits from Ann,Jerry,Dottie,John,Mike, or anyone else with Team Z during the BC ? Have a great day Queen Z.

This is a wonderful thing for you to do Zenny. I hope you raise alot of money. The Breeders Cup is a great prize, but I suspect the visit with you will really be driving this auction for such a worthy cause. Zenny, you are the gift that keeps on giving, no joke. I am so glad Barry is back (pretty amazing really)and doing well. Give him our best.
Neva Rae Powers
You are such a delight.

HI Z! Wish so much I could bid on that wonderful BC package, but I am sure someone is going to bid a ton of money. But, I will be bidding in thought. I sure hope the package goes for a lot of $ since it is for a wonderful charity. So glad to hear that Barry is doing well. Thoughts and prayers to Barry. Have a wonderful day Z!!! xxoo

p.s. Zenny I thought you (and your Dumplings) would like to see photos from last weeks racing. I think you (personally) will enjoy #12 because it was taken at Hollywood Park (Gold Cup); the “wire” photo! TOO CUTE!

@DJ-Good words, indeed. @Kathryn Cogswell-You are right on. I was a season ticket holder with the Rams for 30 years and the cost of game tickets when the team left Anaheim for St. Louis was $30.00 each. Sports will eventually be studio games with the ordinary fan frozen out because of prices.@Judy Maass Gadwood–I was just getting used to Judy MG when it changed to JAG. A rose by any name smells just as sweet.

Well congratulations to the winner of the package, because with your popularity that is the only way one can even get foot on Lane’s End.

You and Barbaro are angels sent down to make a difference in the lives of many. Thank you!

You’re work never ends you you and your team just continue to give back. We went to the Breeders cup last year (to see you) and totally enjoyed the 2 days it was so fun. Everytime I see a re-run of the Classic I keep hoping you get that last step. I may have to try and win the lottery so I can bid on a trip to see YOU.
Hugs and kisses

Zenny- it is truly amazing all that you have accomplished! That IS a lot of money for a horse to raise, but YOU’RE ZENYATTA!!Bless you and your people<3 I am so glad that your friend Barry is getting out and around-continued good wishes to him! Zenny, I know it is very hot in Kentucky today. Ask Matt or Charles if they would bring you a piece of cold watermelon- that's what our horses love on a really hot day! Love you <3

Hi, Z friends- I need to get caught up on yesterday’s posts! Thank you for the links and wonderful words today already <3
@Kris O: Thinking of you-best wishes. You have Zenyatta and us on your side!
Good news for Thoroughbreds: I read today that Thoroughbred racehorse owners will get tax breaks(of some kind) for donating money all along for their horses' retirements, retraining-whatever comes after their track careers. That seems like a wonderful idea!!
Judy (Maass) Gadwood aka JAG
@ Terry Crow LOL I’ve been known as JAG for a long time (my initials!) so I thought it best to go by that here ;-) I’ll eventually remove my whole name and sign by initials only…. one day!

I think it is a terrible shame that The Breeders Cup and your people are supporting such an unworthy charity that was listed as DO NOT DONATE TO by Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine http://www.pcrm.org . It is a shameful thing that they are not donating to worthwhile charities that rescue horses. Horse rescue NEEDS more funding. They get their money from horses and that money should go to horses not be wasted on researchers getting $100K per year who have not helped a single person let alone any horses. I am very sorry that you will be a part of this waste of money when so many of your fellow horses need help. There are many charities approved of by pcrm including cancer charities.

A beautiful, wonderful, brilliant horse can do so much for mankind–and it is Zenyatta!!!! This is fabulous. I don’t have the money to bid but I’ll contribute. I would give so much to see you in person, dearest Zenyatta…I think of you all the time and would love to see you, even from afar. I’m sure all of us on this string feel the same way. I never saw you race in person, which I regret, and just hope that someday,in some way, I will see you at Lane’s End. YOu and Rachel are leading the way in transforming racing into a brand new experience, giving it a brand new reputation. Rachel is saving horses, which is so dear to my heart. You are working on people causes. I take my hat off to Team Z and to Team RA for creating this new awareness of thoroughbred racing and, most important of all, new awareness and compassion and respect and admiration for THE HORSE! So long overdue. Zenny, I hope you can find a way to have friends visit you, even just once or twice a year…I would be overwhelmed with joy.

Good afternoon Precious Zenny,
Thanks for the update on Mr. Abrams. That is such great news. I wish that I could bid on the trip to the BC and especially a visit with you. Finances are kinda tight right now. I do purchase alot of your items from the V foundation. I try to purchase items that would donate proceeds to a great causes. You are an Angel. Thanks you for thinking of others and helping in making this world we live in a better place. Love YOU sooo much!! OOOXXX

Zenny and Dottie–is this true? I just read it above…I hope no one is hornswaggling you both…Zenny’s efforts should only be given to honorable causes. Cancer has been a target of research for 80 years now, and no progress whatsoever. It looks good on a researcher’s resume, though, and many researchers who do repetitive experimentation on animals keep doing the same thing, year in and year out, to keep getting the money. I don’t want our Zenny to feed into that trap, if this is true:

If I had anything to say about it, and I surely don’t, I’d love to see you do charity work for horses and other animals. About 99% of all charities in this world are based upon the needs of people. Barely 1% serve animal and environmental causes, and I wish that ratio could even out a bit. My life is dedicated to animal rights and animal causes, so it’s so natural for me to feel this way. I mean no disrespect with this, dearest Zenny, but if this statement is correct, I don’t want to see you and your noble efforts be abused. I know your heart is with both people and horses, and so I trust Team Z will choose the right road for you, sweet girl.
