Good Morning,
Yesterday, I had such a busy afternoon. As I mentioned to you earlier in the week, ESPN
requested some current photos/video of ME for their Saturday afternoon Hollywood Gold
Cup-G1 television broadcast. They are in California covering this race and also
wanted to air a current update on ME!
Needless to say, I truly wanted to look my very best for this photo shoot! As you can see in
the above picture, the guys and I got busy to get my last minute ‘beauty touches done’. I wanted
to be completely ready…coat brushed, dapples glowing, mane and tail touched up, and,
of course, my hooves polished so they would reflect that perfect sparkle! (Mario would
be so proud! He has groomed me perfectly so many times…that I know JUST WHAT TO DO!)
It was truly a fun shoot…which lasted approximately 2 hours. It took a bit more
time than we had originally planned as once in a while a ‘darling little fly’…(it is that season of
the year, you know)…. decided he / she wanted to be photographed WITH ME!
As sweet as this is….we had to explain to the little creature…this was NOT happening!)
Patience, though, is a virtue and we were able to stay focused on the task at hand and
get some great material!
I’m not sure how many of these photos will be shown on this Saturday’s ESPN broadcast
…but they did take quite a bit of footage of ME at the farm….grazing, in the paddock,
and then back at my barn. I really had a wonderful time!
Per MY JOHN, ESPN also had cameras at BARN 55 yesterday morning, taking pictures
of MY STALL and my dear BABY SISTER, “E”. Jeannine Edwards spoke to John about
how she is doing and to get a current update on her as well.
Photos of ME, MY STALL, and MY BABY SIS……this is all so very special!
I must say, I am deeply touched by all of this.
It will be interesting to see how their writers and video staff tie all of this information
together in creating this segment. I’m not sure at what point in the broadcast the
ZENYATTA UPDATE will air. Dottie just checked the ESPN-TV sports programming
schedule for this Saturday…and it looks like the entire broadcast is on from 7-8 Eastern / 4-5
Pacific Time.
I do hope I look TOO CUTE!
Have a wonderful Friday! I’m off to relax outside and enjoy the day in the paddock with my
Lane’s End pals.
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

@Terry Crow – I have always had a love affair with Hollywood. It entertains and at times gives some history while telling a story. Kurt Russell is such an admirer of the real Wyatt Earp that he and Goldie named their son Wyatt.
Late ‘50’s through the ‘60’s I lived in front of our television. I had no siblings and for the most part my girlfriends lived too far away to visit. Warner Brothers churned out television series so fast that if you blinked you missed it. Also the actors had to do double duty and sing. Many of the studios followed suit. I have an LP on Bonanza where the boys, Adam, Joe, and Hoss surprise Pa with a birthday party. Each one took turns singing songs of the period. Robert Conrad of Hawaiian Eye, then later to Wild Wild West and Black Sheep cut a 45. He didn’t have a bad voice. I remember watching The Alaskans with a very young Roger Moore and the beautiful actress Dorothy Provine. Of course Moore became Bond and a movie legend. Those were the days of non-stop westerns. Boy do I miss those times. When someone was shot they just grabbed themselves and fell over; no blood or guts.
I believe the two movies where the actors shined like stars in the sky were The Great Escape and The Longest Day.
Don’t you just love the end to Pretty Women, “What’s your dream? Come to Hollywood, everybody has a dream.” I might not have the words just right but you get my drift.

All: Enjoying my day with son, daughter in law and grandkids. The horses said their prayers and they avoided Ms. diastu’s dumpling rendition of a dressage queen! The short straws were miniature golf (I suck) and go-cart racing (I suck). Grandson helped me make name tags.
@Bragging rights here: When I was in high school in Lakewood, a classmate had a pool party with some interesting caracters invited that they knew. Spent some quality pool time with Mr. Russell. He was a very sweet person then as now. Being a SoCal girl had its privilages – I just didn’t know it at the time.
@Zenny: Rats! At the track with Dumplings, or in front of a tv screen watching ESPN. Duh. Sweetie – I’m going to the track! I’m sure you’ll understand. Besides – there be web wizards amoungst us who will post links for private pleasure :-)
more later from the solitude of my hotel room – no kitties, no chaos, sigh.

@Dumplings: This old lizardlander gets cold easy! I’ll be in blue slacks and a white long-sleeved pull-over tee! Those ocean breezes give my goosebumps goosebumps!Sorry, no pink in my suitcase this trip – except blushing with the sign I’ll be holding!
diastu in – – – oh, who knows where?

Good night, sweet Z. I’ll have to settle for the tv and the sweltering heat (104 today) here. I’ll be dreaming of YOU and that lovely green grass. Everything here in Texas is burned to a crisp.

Hi Zenny: How exciting is this!! A photo shoot with ESPN!! Wow! I am sure you looked beautiful. You always do. That little fly just had to get into the action too. Lol. Too Cute!!! I will be at the Gold Cup Races tomorrow so I sure hope they show the footage there.
Zenny you are not going to believe this, but today I visited Barn 55. I had a wonderful time!! Your friends at Barn 55–both horses and people were so nice. I had a nice visit with your John. How special was that!!!! I also met Steve, Frank and Michele and many others. David was also there. It was very exciting to say the less. All your former neighbors took a likening to me right away. Maybe it was because I had carrots for everyone, you think? I also met your sister: Ebby. She was so nice. A very sweet girl. I really had a wonderful time. It really meant a lot to me to see your stall, and stand underneath the tree right where you stood. It was an experience I will treasure forever. Take care Zenny. Love, Linda

I met Mr. Russell in Superior Court in Vista, Ca where I worked for a Judge. He was suing an airplane company over something about an engine or something related to the airplane. He is a pilot. This was quite some time ago and I don’t remember much about the case, just that he was the plaintiff. Very handsome. We all tried to “act normal” in his presence. He was most cordial and polite and co-workers were bringing in old VIDEOS of his movies and asking him to autograph them. He was and of course still is a very gracious, lovely person. I was hoping to see Goldie but she was not present. In the end, the case settled in his favor without a formal jury trial. Amazing what Z’s website does to bring a group of people together. Wish I could go tomorrow, had planned on it for a long time but a wonderful opportunity for my grandson to come visit with his friend, timing not great for the Hollywood GC , but am taking grandson to the airport tomorrow to return home to Mo.
Have fun ladies and gents and hopefully another time.

For those who would like a prayer:
God of Perfect Peace,
Violence and cruelty can have no part with you. May those who are at peace with one another
hold fast to the good will that unites them;
may those who are enemies forget their hatred and be healed.
In your kindness may the work we begin
bring us growth in this life
and help to extend the kingdom of Good will towards Your Creation.
May Your Spirit of charity be our strength in adversity,
our health in weakness,
our comfort in sorrow,
our hope in Love as we rest in Your kindness.
