Good Morning,
Yesterday, I had such a busy afternoon. As I mentioned to you earlier in the week, ESPN
requested some current photos/video of ME for their Saturday afternoon Hollywood Gold
Cup-G1 television broadcast. They are in California covering this race and also
wanted to air a current update on ME!
Needless to say, I truly wanted to look my very best for this photo shoot! As you can see in
the above picture, the guys and I got busy to get my last minute ‘beauty touches done’. I wanted
to be completely ready…coat brushed, dapples glowing, mane and tail touched up, and,
of course, my hooves polished so they would reflect that perfect sparkle! (Mario would
be so proud! He has groomed me perfectly so many times…that I know JUST WHAT TO DO!)
It was truly a fun shoot…which lasted approximately 2 hours. It took a bit more
time than we had originally planned as once in a while a ‘darling little fly’…(it is that season of
the year, you know)…. decided he / she wanted to be photographed WITH ME!
As sweet as this is….we had to explain to the little creature…this was NOT happening!)
Patience, though, is a virtue and we were able to stay focused on the task at hand and
get some great material!
I’m not sure how many of these photos will be shown on this Saturday’s ESPN broadcast
…but they did take quite a bit of footage of ME at the farm….grazing, in the paddock,
and then back at my barn. I really had a wonderful time!
Per MY JOHN, ESPN also had cameras at BARN 55 yesterday morning, taking pictures
of MY STALL and my dear BABY SISTER, “E”. Jeannine Edwards spoke to John about
how she is doing and to get a current update on her as well.
Photos of ME, MY STALL, and MY BABY SIS……this is all so very special!
I must say, I am deeply touched by all of this.
It will be interesting to see how their writers and video staff tie all of this information
together in creating this segment. I’m not sure at what point in the broadcast the
ZENYATTA UPDATE will air. Dottie just checked the ESPN-TV sports programming
schedule for this Saturday…and it looks like the entire broadcast is on from 7-8 Eastern / 4-5
Pacific Time.
I do hope I look TOO CUTE!
Have a wonderful Friday! I’m off to relax outside and enjoy the day in the paddock with my
Lane’s End pals.
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

Zenny, my eyes will be focused on the TV tomorrow un anticiaption of seeing you again.
You are my horse of a lifetime and, apparently for millions, theirs too. I have no doubt you were “too cute” in the photos. Love you bunches
Elizabeth
We’re sooo looking forward to the ESPN story about you, wonderful Z! We’re keeping Rosie and Barry in our thoughts. He had you “under his spell” in that video with you. :-)
Hope all of you have fun at the Gold Cup. Sorry we’re missing it, but maybe next year if Breeders’ Cup is in CA again…
WILD HORSES
I can’t wait to see you and Ebby on ESPN.
Have a great weekend to you and everyone who loves you(that’s a whole lot of people!) Lori
Patricia Emery
Even without brushing & grooming you are the “Best!”
Sending you lots of love and enjoy your weekend…hope “E” is doing well too!
XOXO

Ah, Zenny…we wish ESPN would do a full hour of just YOU. We never tire of seeing you on film or in pictures…you still know how to light up a camera like no other. We know your Barn 55 family must miss you terribly because you were such a huge part of their lives for 4 years. The Legend of Zenyatta is a priceless piece of journalism. We agree with others who have said your Ann would love to have you near her 24/7. It seems as if LE is the next best place…they truly recognize the Queen resides within their space and take wonderful care of you.
The ESPN piece tomorrow will be amazing…of that we’re certain.
Yvonne
Can’t wait to see you on TV tomorrow, sweet Zenny! You will look stunning, as always! Have a wonderful weekend!
Yvonne
P.S. Zenny, I truly hope you are going to dance for us again on the TV show!
darlene
will be watching Queen Z love ya
Celeste
Thank you for the beautiful photo of you getting ready for your photo session! I can’t wait to see the segment on ESPN, plus the Hollywood Gold Cup looks to be shaping up into a very fun race. I will probably have to be taping it for viewing later as we will be heading to my granddaughter’s birthday party somewhere around that time, then to a choir concert my cousins are in. For someone without much social life, the one time I have things planned to do – there is great racing and more important – the great Zenyatta to watch!! LOL! Thank you Dottie/Zenyatta for sharing with us and keeping us so up to date.
Ingrid Arnone
My Zenyatta, you are so cute, you are so cute, and you are the most beautiful lady horse…
Thanks to your team for sharing your life with all us, I cannot wait to see you tomorrow. Love you always, Ingrid.
Brenda
Zenny, How could you not look TOO CUTE? It’s very clear that you will be looking better than ever in spite of those pesky flies. I took Victoria for her lesson this afternoon and finally had to go and hide in the van – the flies were biting chunks out me so I really admire your patience. I definitely don’t think of them as “little darlings” quite the opposite!! Vic and I will be waiting for Vic’s Mom to arrive here next Friday before we can see the ESPN feature which she is recording for us although I’m guessing that somebody will post a link here. HINT, HINT, Judy B.
@ The Dumplings (female and male) Have a wonderful time tomorrow and may you all back winners.

@Mary Copelin, my sister lives in Bakersfield.

To Terry Crow: Maybe you heard this . .. it was a favorite of my mother`s. ~ ‘America`s Sweetheart,’ Mary Pickford, kept her curls and flounces longer into film than she liked, and often was peeved on set, being too sweet for words in script after script, `way after she was grown. On one set, a fly annoyed her to a distraction past composure, and while she smiled coyly, and seemed to remain in character, she actually whispered, “Little fly, do you want to go to Heaven?” .. . ‘SMACK!!’ went a swat — “Well, you HAVE!!!” ~~ [DJ: Exactly; thanks].
Ingrid Arnone
@ Dear Ingrid in MA hopes you get well! Hugs, namesake Ingrid.

Hope to meet many Z-sters at HP tomorrow! I expect to be in the paddock area by around 11AM. You’ll recognize me by my dumpling shape, white shorts, white top, white visor, and turquoise and pink neck scarves. I join Karen Gogue in asking all Z-sters to please say hi. Karen doesn’t have a cell phone now, but I do, and will even turn it on around 9:45AM Sat. if you want to get in telephonic contact. You can call me at home on my land line today or tomorrow before 9AM for the number, or e-mail Karen for it at karenlg06@yahoo.com.

Good luck to John Shirreffs with Tiz Gianni (three-year-old son of Giacomo) in race 1 (post time 1PM PDT), Victor Espinoza aboard, AND Guest Star, owned by George Krikorian, with Joel Rosario up.
Good luck to Miss Match (ARG), the six-year-old mare racing against the younger male competition (with the exception of the eight-year-old gelding Awesome Gem) in race 8, the Hollywood Gold Cup Handicap, post time 4:40 PDT. And TV viewers will be watching for YOU, Z, on ESPN, as you said, during coverage of that race.

@Carolyn—-Hope to meet you, once you manage to tear yourself away from E! She truly is special.
@Ann Maree—-Thanks for the link to The Legend.
@Sarah Powell—-Beautiful post. Best wishes for your horse getting back to 100% (or 110%) soon.
@ Cathy Braun-Emig —“Tell those flies to bug off!”—Love it! High hoof to you!
@Susan in TN—It tears at my heart to read of poor Chopper’s distress at losing his companion. I can understand that the expense of keeping two horses is more than that of one. I wonder if the family already had other horses, or if Dolly will be alone in her new home. Horses are naturally herd animals, and I think most horses really want to be together with at least one other horse, as much as they may love their people. And when they form a special bond with a particular horse, it is very touching indeed, and so sad when the link is broken. Bless little Bitsy and Maggie for helping Roger with his loss, and I so hope Chopper will be able to adjust well. He’s a very good looking horse from the picture on the webpage. Maybe Chester is the key, as you suggest. Please keep us in the loop. Blessings to you and the animals.

Hi Z, Thank you Ann Maree I never saw that report before it was outstanding.I was crying like a baby. Z you look so good today. So many people love you. Me too!! You are the coolest horse ever. Take care of baby z love ya Sue
Sally (B)
Sweet Z, am looking at you right now !Those from ESPN must be in awe of the most beautiful Big Mama! I am glad the fly made its exit! After all, this was not a musical with “Shoe fly don’t bother me” as a song!!hee I will be in awe of you once again on ESPN!! I love you so much and love how your team Z has kept us involved. love with 2 kisses on your soft nose; one for baby Z
@Ann Maree, and all: I can not stay on the computer very long, thanks for the link as this time I read it to the end. I could just tell Ann had a special love for Zenyatta It was not only for the win, it was for the love of Z to win, that her emotions showed, though she choked back tears. John, yes, this was a horse of his lifetime as a trainer! All team Z worked with and shared a “once in a lifetime horse”. I was a basket case coming back from the Nov 2010 Breeders Cup once I got home in Wi. I loved her so much and would probably never see her again. My husband thought I lost my marbels!! Then this diary post began. The connection to Z has lightened the loss in her racing; this has been so wonderful.
But, I hope some day I can stand a foot away from Z!! Thanks to all

Dear Margaret:
That’s a good idea. Always enjoy Jeannine Edwards’ commentary. Hugs, J.B.

@Ann Maree – Thanks for the link to the Zenyatta article. I had never seen that. That was a fantastic article. He most definitely deserved that Eclipse Award.
