Good Morning,
Yesterday, I had such a busy afternoon. As I mentioned to you earlier in the week, ESPN
requested some current photos/video of ME for their Saturday afternoon Hollywood Gold
Cup-G1 television broadcast. They are in California covering this race and also
wanted to air a current update on ME!
Needless to say, I truly wanted to look my very best for this photo shoot! As you can see in
the above picture, the guys and I got busy to get my last minute ‘beauty touches done’. I wanted
to be completely ready…coat brushed, dapples glowing, mane and tail touched up, and,
of course, my hooves polished so they would reflect that perfect sparkle! (Mario would
be so proud! He has groomed me perfectly so many times…that I know JUST WHAT TO DO!)
It was truly a fun shoot…which lasted approximately 2 hours. It took a bit more
time than we had originally planned as once in a while a ‘darling little fly’…(it is that season of
the year, you know)…. decided he / she wanted to be photographed WITH ME!
As sweet as this is….we had to explain to the little creature…this was NOT happening!)
Patience, though, is a virtue and we were able to stay focused on the task at hand and
get some great material!
I’m not sure how many of these photos will be shown on this Saturday’s ESPN broadcast
…but they did take quite a bit of footage of ME at the farm….grazing, in the paddock,
and then back at my barn. I really had a wonderful time!
Per MY JOHN, ESPN also had cameras at BARN 55 yesterday morning, taking pictures
of MY STALL and my dear BABY SISTER, “E”. Jeannine Edwards spoke to John about
how she is doing and to get a current update on her as well.
Photos of ME, MY STALL, and MY BABY SIS……this is all so very special!
I must say, I am deeply touched by all of this.
It will be interesting to see how their writers and video staff tie all of this information
together in creating this segment. I’m not sure at what point in the broadcast the
ZENYATTA UPDATE will air. Dottie just checked the ESPN-TV sports programming
schedule for this Saturday…and it looks like the entire broadcast is on from 7-8 Eastern / 4-5
Pacific Time.
I do hope I look TOO CUTE!
Have a wonderful Friday! I’m off to relax outside and enjoy the day in the paddock with my
Lane’s End pals.
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~
Z

@Charlotte Farmer-I belong to a wild west group that meets once a month. The movie Tombstone is often a topic of conversation and I should have known you would know the lore behind the film. Your knowledge is amazing. I once had a copy of the original script and noted that there was to be a scene during the vendetta ride in which Earp and his boys run into a wagon train. The wagon master was played by Hugh O’Brian and would have been a classic. Cutting room floor. Tombstone was the first tome that the main characters were played by actors who were the spproximate age of the real people, with the exception of the actor playing Fred White.

Hi Big Mama, boy you are truly “The Queen” having all those nice looking guys waiting on you hoof and hoof. You look stunning as usual and I can’t wait to see you on ESPN I hope they use all the footage they can. Nice of you to share face time with Ebby too, you are such a generous horse, that’s why we love you sooooooo much!
@Susan in TN it sounds like you are having a ball at the rescue, it must make you feel so good to know you have made a difference. Bless your heart!
Thanks to all for the great videos so many have posted, this is such a great place to meet isn’t it.
Luv and kisses on your nose

Well, don’t feel bad – this fat ole bitty will fit right in then!!!
Beiieve it or not segment: About 17 years ago I had the pleasure of serving Kurt Russell at a local restaurant in Long Beach…. The Toyota Gran Prix is still raced in downtown LB to this day. We all assumed that he was either filming or driving in the Gran Prix. HubaHubaHuba!!! What a hottie, and he still is! You couldn’t meet a nicer, polite person. He was by himself (he pulled in the lot driving a Corvette – couldn’t miss it) I, as his waitress, was soooo nervous, could not even remember what day it was let alone get my feet to step one in front of the other! BUT when he smiled that gorgeous smile, I about melted and everything fell into place – the professional smiling Me treated him like he was just another customer – they are all special to me. Although he knew WE knew who he was, he did tell me that he appreciated my service and thought it very kind of me to treat him like every one else. And that it was very considerate of me to Not forget my other customers just because he was Kurt Russell! I did not ask him any questions about why he was in LB, nor about Goldie, and I think he appreciated that as well… long story shorter, he left me a $30.00 tip and thanked me once again…and off he went in his little flying jet-car!!! Alas, I did not get his autograph but the memory of that day will never leave! One special nice guy Terry, I agree. Huba Huba!

er, I meant I WAS going to be dressed in PINK!! LOL!! Maybe those who don’t know what I look like will spot me – AND I’LL HAVE THAT AIRPORT SIGN OUT TOO! I’ll be the only ‘Pink Piggy’ at the track, so it should’t be too hard to spot me wallowing along!!

@DJ-The fly joke was great. @Karen Gogue-I don’t quite feel the same way about Mr. Russell as you do, but I am a fan. If anyone is lucky enough to meet him, you will not be disappointed.

@Terry Crow: Loved the story of Krut Russell and remember he was great in “Dreamer”
@Susan In TN: Going to light candles for both Chester and Chopper and keep one going for precious Lou at all times.
@Terry Crow: Tried to post this the other but lost it to cyber space some where. Did you know we have a Kentucky Derby Winner buried here in KC? I finally found him. His name was Lawrin and he won the 1938 Derby. He was owned by Herbert Woolf and he is buried next to his sire Insco. The land was sold for development but the graves are maintained and both have large granite markers with a wrought iron fence around them. They are in Prairie Village at the end of a cul de saque. Lawrin was born in 1935 and died in 1955. He is the only Kansas bred to win a Derby. I’ve got the address and I’m heading down there in a few days to pay my respects.

@Charlotte great news about donations being up we are slowly getting there.
ALSO thanks to all who have donated it is so appreciated every little bit helps. This is a journey a long time coming but it will come. You are all so wonderful to take the time to help Noor. And Dottie is so wonderful to allow us all to come to this site and tell our stories. It means so much to be able to do that. Many wonderful friendships have been made. We give heartfeld thanks Dottie because without you it wouldn’t have happened.

Zenyatta, are you looking forward to being featured on ESPN, girl? It sounds like you had a lot of fun with the ESPN people taking pictures of you and grooming you to get you ready for their piece which is airing on ESPN tomorrow night. Say hello to your little sister E for me as well as your other California buddies. You can bet that I will be watching you tomorrow night. I look forward to seeing it.

You sure do look fantastic, all those grooming lessons Mario taught you are paying off! No one is more deserving of a feature on ESPN than you!! I’ll be watching for sure!!

Love all the talk about Tombstone, I like Kurt Russells’ Wyatt, and I do believe that Val Kilmer is the best Doc Holliday of them all.

@Karen Gogue – I will look for you in pink. I will be wearing black with a turquoise jacket. The black is to disguise my bulk.
@AnnMaree – thank you so much for the link to The Legend of Zenyatta. It was wonderful.
See you all tomorrow. It will be good to be in a cool place. It is 105 here in Bakersfield as I type this.

Hi Zenny, you look amazing, as always. Can’t wait to see the segment on you. Love you, love you, oh yes I do!
@Charlotte Farmer – that’s great news on the donations. Love being a small part of this inspirational journey you have allowed us to travel with you. RIP Noor.
@Dumplings – have a blast! I plan to join you one day and get in on all the fun!
@Susan in TN – I love hearing about your special pals at Rescue at River Edge. You’re doing important and loving work.
@Terry Crow – Tombstone is one of my all time favorite westerns (favorite is High Noon). I just watched Tombstone again for probably the 10th time two weeks ago. Also, wanted to tell you that I have been chuckling over your jokes. You’ve got quite an arsenal of them and I wish I could return the favor, however, with my memory I’m lucky I remember anything from this morning! lol Keep them coming.
Now I’m off to watch Charlotte’s link of Noor racing against Citation. Very exciting! Have a great evening, Z, and all Z’ers!
