Good Morning,
I know at times I’m very casual, having fun, enjoying the moment, and using terms like TOO CUTE and IT’S ME! So much of this is meant to be playful and simply offer all of us another way to enjoy the people and things around us! I try to lighten things up a bit from the regular routines we all experience each day. However, in the Diary, I also acknowledge and respectfully honor the serious things that go on in all
of our lives. On this particular day, I would like to be very serious.
The Racing Community is like one HUGE FAMILY. You can travel around the country and often see many of the same people at the different events and venues. My John, years ago, became very friendly with Larry Jones. When they both shipped into Churchill Downs for various stakes races, they would be stabled together and got to know each other very well. This represents one of the FUN parts that goes along with racing…cultivating the friendships one is able to develop along the way!
Obviously, we are all participating in a sport. The primary objective for everyone is WIN! Thus, you are constantly competing against one another. That is the nature of all sports in general. However, it does not mean that you are not sharing a friendship and a bond with your fellow racing competitors. You are…and the basis for all of this in our sport is the ‘LOVE’ of HORSES. So many people work very hard…and always strive to do their best! I know MY TEAM sincerely wishes others success in all that they do!
On this particular day, there are 2 people MY TEAM and I would love to send our best wishes to for a SPEEDY RECOVERY.
In California, we have a very hands-on trainer named Barry Abrams. Barry came to visit ME when I was at BARN 55…and he is a very dear man. Last Tuesday, he had a very serious surgery. I want to send him a HIGH HOOF and wish him ALL OF THE VERY BEST as he recovers. This is the 2nd time he has had this type of surgery…the last one took place 6 years ago. So, our thoughts are with Barry and his family as he recovers during the upcoming summer months.
Additionally, MY TEAM read that Rosie Napravnik is having surgery this morning on her arm / wrist. Rosie has had a tremendous year winning many races and riding titles. The anticipated time for her recovery is yet unknown. They will have to see how things go, according to the DRF, before they know when she can return to riding. We would like to wish her ALL THE BEST as well!
On a very serious side, I’d like to send all of our friends who may need a HUG a big one. It never ceases to amaze ME how quickly in life things can change…in a moment! To ME, that’s why it is so important to truly enjoy and appreciate the healthy and happy times….as well as being respectful of the challenges that may develop….not only for yourself…but others.
With Love,
Hugs to All~(Rosie and Barry…especially thinking of YOU today!)
Z

Zeny the video of you and Barry is really good. He found just all the right places didn’t he and you being the lady you are just let him. Of course you have a very special rapport with the men in your life.
I hope both Rosie and Barry are better soon. Does anyone know when your segment on ESPN will air?

LouAnn Cingel of Union, Missouri
My best wishes and prayers going out to Barry Abrams and Rosie Napravnik too. Yes, life can change in a quick moment and it is so important to appreciate each and every moment. Today is important and should be lived to the fullest because tomorrow is not promised.
You are looking so good and bet you are enjoying all the warm weather and all your family and friends there at Lane’s End. Just seeing your pictures, melts my heart. You are so gorgeous my lady! Take care of yourself and remember I love you lots Zenyatta!
Charlene Crumpton
Your thoughts are indeed very serious today, Zenyatta. I only wish that our politicians would realize that although they are in “competition” to win votes, they should understand that they must still be “friends”. As you said what joins competitors in racing is love of horses. What should join competitors in politics is love of our nation. As a retired history teacher I know what happens to great powers when the leaders in BOTH parties forget this lesson. I fear for my nation that we have forgotten such a basic truth. Yes, my thoughts too are with Rosie & Barry. Perhaps our thoughts might also turn to our wonderful people at this time of what may be great self-inflicted peril. It has been said that history is a hard teacher as she gives the test before the lesson. We have no such excuse as you have just reminded us all of the lesson.

No wonder your owners got to have you…the best female racehorse ever. They raised you right and to care about the right things. My dad was in the ER 2x this weekend and my dog got hurt. He’s 10 and may need surgery. You hit close to home with your message Z. God bless you and your owners, and all of our friends and loved ones.

As a girl, I loved an aunt — a ‘Telex’ operator — she made us laugh, but died too young. Years later, Lily Tomlin & ‘Ernestine’ at the board, snarky and nasal, brought that same wackiness . .. Some days, firestorms, tornados, hell & highwater bring wariness; weariness at what next can get you down — or at least make it seem like too many calls & not enough plugs. ~ Harriet Vaughn, Trina, Judy B., Mr. Terry C., Georgia Harper (plus wonderful husband), Karen Mitchell, and Sharon Call`s link to the flight of Valentina off the shoals, make all that moot, for here is Zenyatta, grounded and gorgeous and full-hearted. Grateful again for all you, and what is shared here, whatever comes.

@Terry Crow – Thank You
.
Here is one that kinda fits in with Z’s post today.
.
WALKING THE DOG
.
A Woman was flying from Seattle to San Francisco. Unexpectedly, the plane was diverted to Sacramento along the way. The flight attendant explained that there would be a delay, and if the passengers wanted to get off the aircraft the plane would re-board in 50 minutes. Everybody got off the plane except one lady who was blind. A man had noticed her as he walked by and could tell the lady was blind because her Seeing Eye dog lay quietly underneath the seats in front of her throughout the entire flight. He could also tell she had flown this very flight before because the pilot approached her, and calling her by name, said, “Kathy, we are in Sacramento for almost an hour. Would you like to get off and stretch your legs”? The blind lady replied, “No thanks, but maybe Buddy would like to stretch his legs.”
.
Picture this:
.
All the people in the gate area came to a complete standstill when they looked up and saw the pilot walk off the plane with a Seeing Eye dog! The pilot was even wearing sunglasses. People scattered. They not only tried to change planes, but they were trying to change airlines!
.
True story…
.
Have a great day and remember……

THINGS AREN’T ALWAYS AS THEY APPEAR.

A DAY WITHOUT LAUGHTER IS A DAY WASTED
